The linked video is part four, where Jim gets into the first scene of the game. Thought anyone else who's anticipating this solo expansion for STA might find it interesting.

I'm pretty confident the game must be a bit quicker to get into if you're not trying to explain everything step by step while recording yourself.

While we just saw with the Nielsen numbers from June that SNW is continuing to perform well against other original streaming series, Parrot Analytics is demonstrating that the audience interest is being maintained through the season and the strikes. Only the Witcher and Stranger Things rank higher.

Parrot Analytics demand metrics pull together several different measures including social media engagement as well as their own surveys and focus groups.

They are one of a very few metrics that are designed to provide global measurement and comparisons between and across markets. They also capture demand on phones and PCs not just televisions. Here’s their profile for Strange New Worlds for the US. You can see other countries using the menu at the bottom of the page.

While there had been scepticism about how accurate they were for the US, since Nielsen’s streaming metrics have become available, Parrot has been confirmed to provide a fairly accurate estimate of where rankings of actual viewership will fall.

Here are the Mastodon posts directly from @GoodAaron@mastodon.social.

He also confirms that the DVD release of the back half of season one, with special features is going forward for September.

@GoodAaron@mastodon.social suggests there will be some new information on Prodigy tomorrow.

Is it possible that there may be some announcements at San Diego Comic Con?

Let’s keep boosting Prodigy positively.

For those who are willing to engage in change.org’s petitions (regrettably monetized), the Save Star Trek Prodigy petition is nearing 30k signatures, and could use the support to break the threshold during the SDCC weekend.

Since remastered versions of DS9 and VOY aren't happening any time soon, I think the next best thing should be a SD-BD release, kinda like how Discotek Media are doing with some old anime titles

The advantages :

  • Better video quality, since higher bitrate
  • Better audio quality compared to DVDs
  • More episodes per disc

What would you think about such a release?

The Directors’ Guild of Ontario hotlist is a fairly reliable source for production guild news. Star Trek preproduction in the Greater Toronto Area usually shows up there before any official announcements of production dates.

Today’s hotlist update adds a rumour for a CBS Studios television movie to start production in October.

Is ‘Dovercourt’ the working pseudonym for S31 this round? Or is there some other made for streaming movie in the schedule for CBS Stages Mississauga? Only time will tell…

If you're having trouble seeing posts on the instance, including the discussion post for the latest episode, chances are you need to check your account's language settings.

In your user settings, make sure “Language” is set to both “English” and “Undetermined”. You can select additional languages as well, but they aren’t currently allowed on this server. On desktop, you can use CTRL+click to select both options. This will allow you to see content for which the author has not set a language, and content which has been set to “English”.

I thought this video was absolutely fascinating throughout, even the ad.

The main thrust of it is about how natural Earth languages make use of idiom and metaphor frequently, and how Tamarian is subtly different from this. But we do also make use of a similar direct literary allusion, to different degrees in different languages. Mandarin has a number of examples, but we can also point to "crossing the Rubicon" as an example in English.

More recently, the use of memes has taken on a very Tamarian-like role.

My two favorite "vehicles" in all of fandom are the Enterprise-D and the BTTF DeLorean. And what do you know, Andrew Probert had a significant hand in designing both, as well as the first updated Enterprise in Star Trek: TMP. Here's a cool interview with Andrew from back in 2001.

I saw someone on Reddit wondering why the community was so sure of Trek going dark again with Paramount not doing so well financially. Seeing the response was unfortunate as most people feel that it might be a bad time for Trek. And I guess it makes sense with the Hollywood strikes as well.

But I was curious what Lemmy thought. Maybe im in denial too but I'm curious if you guys think the worry is warranted.
