When asked which Economic Model Does he Prefer Cornel West had this to say

{ When you think about self respect, when you think about self determination, when you think about self defense, that comes from a bottom up orientation.

What does a democratic economy look like? It doesn't look like a capitalist economy. Capitalism is not a democratic form of organizing at the workplace, it's heirarchal, so I'm for workers control.

Am I a socialist? certainly there's a strong socialist dimension to what I'm talking about but that's just a moment... but we've got spiritual and cultural dimensions that go far beyond isms, far beyond ideoogies.

In the communist tradition I would be closer to council communists than the vanguard communists "the Soviets Without Bolshevicks" that's what happened at the Kronstadt Rebellion when they were crushed. Soviets are Workers Organizations whereas the Vanguard Party were imposing their will upon the Workers Organizations so that the workers counciles got crushed. So people like Pannakoek or Gorder(?) . . . These are so called Council Communist who become revolutionary socialists critical of Vanguard Parties orientation... }

" The Biden Administration announced this week that the Labor Department (DOL) will update federal prevailing wage standards for the first time in decades, resulting in thousands of extra dollars per year in workers’ paychecks. The new DOL rule is being hailed by labor leaders as a major win for working families and “another promise kept by President Joe Biden.” "

When I looked at the different political systems currently in place around the world. I noticed one core issue. Power corrupts people, be it democratic elected, rich or authoritarian there is always an incentive to abuse said power for personal gain. It also attracts people who strive for power, who usually experienced a lack of control in life and are unsatisfied.

In an ideal world politicians should work for the good of the people, but that seems impossible in current systems.

So how do you build a system that doesn't insitivise using political power for personal gain. I think it is a rather tricky question.

Some of the ideas I had feel free to discuss:

  • Strictly limit the legislative period without exception. (minimizing the time exposed to power and possibility to using it for personal gain)
  • A politicians elected get permanently limited in their private posetions, in exchange for the opportunity to change policy. (you need to give away personal benefits in order to gain power)
  • Punishment for thresholds of personal gains. In our capitalist society for example, I cannot imagine any billionaire, who did not exploit and therefore use violence against other people in order to reach these riches. I think it is fair to assume, that no one can reach this amount of wealth, without any moral wrong doing. It therefore could be classified as a crime and procecuted as such.

Any criticism and ideas are welcome. I'm no expert, so excuse me if I got something wrong. These are just ideas.

The coups in Mali and Burkina Faso already demonstrate that the new military regimes have no programme nor even a genuine intention to address the deep-seated problems engendered by the private appropriation and looting of these countries’ resources by big corporations.

Quote:"The alliance is also marked by a strong ambivalence. It was founded with the intention of ending the hegemony of the West and the imperial practices of the hegemonic power, the U.S. Attacking the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency is a central project within this strategy. But at the same time, the BRICS countries are not striving for a fundamental change in world trade, they are ultimately only seeking to inherit the West and the U.S. within the framework of the world capitalist system – and to fall into the same imperialist practices that the U.S. is accused of. This is evident not only in Russia’s imperialist war in Ukraine, but also in the conflicts within the alliance: China and India, for example, are often on the brink of war in the Himalayas over border disputes."

I've heard that their history books talk about european history(, Charlemagne, ...), that's insane, i didn't believed it at first(, and still suppose that it was exaggerated, and that their school books probably talk less about the history of Greece, Rome, and western Europe, than Africa and the rest of the world).
I can attest as someone living in France that we know much more about allied/useful countries like Japan and Korea(, and the u.s.a. of course,) than about other african countries that speak french, we can't expect them to seek a strong alliance/union with us if we don't know their cultures, these ties will fade if the french government does nothing linked to them except anti-immigration laws to preserve our so-called "french" "historic" culture, we could begin by t.v. shows partnering with them, but it only shows how our efforts to maintain these (cultural/.. )ties are close to none, we could have salvaged some connection with them(, not economic). We're living in a bubble, afraid of foreign "disinformation".
And while westerners forget(never learn) about our actions to preserve a favorable status quo, africans are more aware than us of what we did in their country, and probably also in Asia, the Middle-East, South America, and their own continent.
If we succeed in being united in uniformity, like we're fighting for, then does it mean that future schisms will be sanctioned ? Is it even worth fighting for hegemony if a diverse union is more desirable ?

Honestly he's right, the most ressources/..-rich continent is suspiciously the poorest, it can't continue like that, i've only theories(, protectionnism//liberalism, exportation of raw materials to import manufactured goods, crazy compounded interests, ..., i've started two posts on this topic this past year w/o ending them), but i certainly hope it'll change, as soon as possible.
And we(sterners) shouldn't simply stop benefiting from the global South, but actively help each other instead, to the point of slowing/stopping our growth for them, 'and then they'll help in return later if we need it'/'simply because we can&should'.
(That's partly how/why a union is still possible/desirable, and how 'a muslim/christian/.. behave'/'the Kingdom/City of God comes unto the Earth', if we 'seek the Supreme Good in deeds and not in words'/'take religion seriously')
