Hi everyone! I'm launching my side project and unlike my previous projects, I want to share my progress publicly. My first step is to share my launch strategy.

Here's what i'm doing for the first few days. I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!

Plan

  1. Scrappy demo video
  2. Show HN
  3. Reddit
  4. Twitter
  5. Backlinks
  6. Ads

Scrappy Demo Video: I've created a short video showcasing the app's capabilities without any direct promotion. Keep it super simple. I will use that video when posting on Twitter.

Show HN: In the past, my projects didn't gain much traction with HN, but I've seen some valuable traffic come through even with a few upvotes.

Reddit: I'll be sharing insights on r/OpenAI and r/OpenAIDev about building my product with the GPT-4 Vision API.

Twitter: My project was inspired by 2 videos sharing new capabilities with the new openai vision API. I will mention those creators hoping to get more reach.

Backlinks: I own multiple websites getting hundreds of unique daily visitors. I adding backlinks in the footer and announcement banner on all of them.

Facebook Ads: I will spend $20/day on Facebook Ads just to an get idea on my cost to acquire a user.

Why I'm Skipping Product Hunt (PH): Given my limited reach and the challenges of breaking through on PH, I'm holding off on this platform for now. I will probably still post on PH later to get their SEO backlink.

That's it!What else do you think I could do to enhance my launch? Any feedback or experiences you'd like to share would be immensely helpful!

I am a software developer with a full time job. My salary is not enough for me rely completely on job, and I cant take the risk of leaving my job and finding another one, because I live paycheck to paycheck and dont have any savings.

Lurking through buildinpublic and here on reddit, I feel like a loser.

I am comparatively good doing full stack development ( Nodejs, React etc ). Considering my strong and weak points I came up with following projects in 2 categories.

  1. Build some products My strong points are: I can spend time building projects, but I dont have money to buy servers or to launch them, minimum cost considering database and all would be around $100/month ( Coming from India, this amount is huge for me, Its approx 8000/month )
  2. Build design templates I can spend time learning about designs since, initial investment here is low ( cost of figma, framer ) and then sell templates which can eventually help me earn sustainable amount of money, But issue is, My design skills are complete zero. For example, I get confused when I want to decide colors, or fonts.

So which path I should spend my time on ?

Hi there!

I built an alternative to Google translate that's fast, accurate, and 1/30th the price. 20+ supported languages, not billed until 100k tokens, and already used thousands of times with real language learning users.

The landing page has a demo for you to test performance yourself for free. (Also landing page says 1/13 the price because had to account for all 3 big names, with varying prices each).

Test it out for yourself (no card or account required) :)https://translateapi.web.app/

I'm excited to share https://picapetname.com: an AI-powered website that generates creative names for pets based on their photos. Being a pet lover and AI enthusiast, I wanted to combine these passions to create something fun and engaging.

Here's how it works:

  1. Upload Your Pet's Photo: Snap a clear picture of your pet and upload it.
  2. Choose a Name: The AI will suggest names that match your pet's appearance and personality. You select your favorite!
  3. Receive a Certificate: After selecting a name, you get a personalized certificate featuring the chosen name and your pet's photo, ready for sharing or printing.

I'm looking for feedback to improve and would love to hear your thoughts. What do you think about the name suggestions? Are there any additional features you'd like to see?
