OK I feel really stupid asking this. I have a app installed on my android phone called /kbin. It has the logo of this site, seems legit and is functioning fine. When I go to view details of the app in the google play store (which is where app details it says it was downloaded from), it cannot find it. It says 'something went wrong'. Google search is failing me. Was there a mobile app removed from the Google Play app store? Is there a way I can track this down further? Thanks!

I'd like to self-host a Mastodon and kbin instance, but without the hassle of the actual hardware management nor the uptime. I've heard of #yunohost but wonder if there are other alternatives?
Can I buy my own domain name and use it for 2 services (like Mastodon and kbin?

I think the best part of all this is... I wasn't even really a reddit user. I am an orphan of bbses, forums, irc, discord, myspace, Orkut, etcetcetc. But I haven't been on anything in two years. Not even Mastodon. But this tidal shift had me wondering where people are going so maybe I could dip my toes back in and out myself back out there. And maybe find interest and things to follow like bands and such that I miss from the bigger nets of old. I did occasionally browse reddit to find info or random posts about bands that I couldn't find elsewhere these days.

I really don't know what the f is happening with the world.

After using Kbin for about a week, I think this is where I'll stay for the meantime.

Reddit is very impersonal, instagram and twitter are both too focused on "NEW NEW NEW NOW!" forms of content where you are discouraged to pause and look. If I ever use Facebook for anything that means something went horribly wrong.

But so far the community here is much more involved, and posts you make actually get seen.
