In case you don't know: Any Pokémon you catch in the wild (not hatched from an egg, given to you via in-game trades or caught in dens) has a certain chance to come with a "mark" attached. These work like Ribbons, you can toggle them on/off and they stay attached to the Pokémon in question even if you trade or evolve it.

1 - 5 star Gimmeghoul raids are also on with a chance of shinies

New trailer for the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC from today's Nintendo Direct. It surprisingly contained footage from both part 1 and part 2.

Wanted to see what people think about doing weekly Pokemon giveaways, at least until the community grows enough that it can be split off to it's own community.

I only have Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl and Sword & Shield at the moment, but if anyone wants something from that let me know.

From an old discussion on reddit. I was an avid breeder back then and mainly interested in Aprimons while trading, yet people kept being confused about what is and is not an Apriball, trying to trade me 'mons in Dive Balls, Luxury Balls or Master Balls when these aren't interesting for a breeder. It might still be useful for someone even tho this information is likely no longer accurate for Violet/Scarlet (I haven't played those and don't plan to either)

Two of my favorite subreddits were Nuzlocke and pokemonribbons. Should we keep those as part of the general discussion for now or split them into separate communities?

I lived Red and Blue as a kid. I think I played Gold on an emulator back in the day.

I really loved the challenge I had playing Red as a kid. I liked getting through an area with just a few hp left.

I never got hardcore into the newer games and have been so disappointed with how easy and hand holding the newer games have been.

I would like to play a romhack. Can someone make a recommendation for me?

Preferably one that's not a rom hack, though I dig those too. I'm looking for something a bit harder than the originals and maybe a bit more mature, but still fair and whimsical. I'd like a game with pokemon from as many gens as possible, and fakemons are fine too.

They can be dual-typed, but at least one of those has to match the type you choose. What type are you choosing, and what's your team look like?

I would have to choose Bug-type, of course. Team composition would be Galvantula, Yanmega, Heracross, Centiskorch, Genesect, and Rabsca. As to why... I just like 'em, lol. I'm not much of a competitive player. What would your team/type be?

Mine is Squirtle.

When I finished Pokemon Scarlet, I thought about a fun group picture with everyone. It took me awhile to actually get to this, but I did enjoy it! There's a lot of rough parts, but it was interesting to try and only use GBA colors. I also got it displaying on an actual GBA!

The overlay on it is using Glaze. I don't process everything through glaze, but something illustrative I do try to. CC BY-NC-ND

I recently did the "Professor Oak Challenge" for this one and had lots of fun.

We talked about everyone's favorite Pokémon, but who's your least favorite? A Pokémon that, no matter what, will never make it on your team? Or maybe the Pokémon you find least interesting?

I have a few, lol.

  • Mr. Mime. I've never liked Mr. Mime, I always found him a little freaky since the first time I saw him. I don't have a problem with clowns or mimes or other performers of the type... I just really don't like Mr. Mime.

  • Shedinja. I love the concept of Shedinja, but the execution is... Lackluster. Wonderguard is basically pointless, since Shedinja's weaknesses are so common, and even moves that aren't super effective can still take it out if they have a secondary or battlefield effect...

  • And finally, a recent Pokémon, Quaquaval. I. Cannot. Stand. This design. Quaxly is... Okay. It's the least strong of it's starter trio. After that, it's all downhill in a big way, lol.

What about you guys? Who are your least favorite Pokémon, and why?

Personally i'd say XY and gen 6 in general, mega evolutions are excellent and they made an actual effort putting lore into the games (plus i'm french so i may be biased because kalos), ORAS were imo the best remakes ever and are exactly what a remake should aim to be.

Everybody has a favorite Pokémon/Evolutionary line. Who's yours, and why?

Mine has to be Totodile! I love the whole evolutionary line, but Totodile is hands-down my favorite Pokémon. My first ever Pokémon games was a copy of Pokémon Gold with a broken internal battery; it couldn't store save data. On long road trips, my sister and I would pack the GameBoy Colour and Pokémon Gold. We would pass the GameBoy back and forth between stops, getting as far as we could before we had to turn off the GameBoy. Whenever we inevitably had to restart and pick our starter again, Totodile was always my choice. I've got lots of great memories from that game, even if we could never save our progress.

Who's your favorite Pokémon, and what's the story behind it? First starter, clutch battler, best design?

NPS and P:LA may be the most visually stunning Pokémon games I've ever played. It makes me sad knowing the franchise is unlikely to bring the things that make these games so great forward.
