I bit the bullet so you don't have to (exchange rates are a fuck but I couldn't wait)

However, if you can afford to support the great work the link you can do so here for $25 USD

My partner asked me if I had any podcast recos specific for news since she isn't on Twitter or anything really. She enjoys Rev Left every now and then, but she's looking for something more timely/news-focused and like an ongoing run-through of current events from a (hopefully) Marxist perspective, or however close that can reasonably be.

I'm putting together a list and have Democracy Now and Citations Needed (although CN is lengthier and less "hard-hitting news" type podcast than what she's looking for). But I'm kind of stuck. The Socialist Program with Brian Becker is kind of like too aggressive and focused on imperialism, I don't know anything about Coffee with Comrades, Deconstructed seems lib?, also don't know anything about the Jacobin podcasts like The Dig. Is Behind the News any good?

I feel like Democracy Now is the type of comprehensive news delivery that she's looking for the most, but I know that show can be anti-communist too. Idk, what does everyone think?

*Edit -- Hell yeah thank you all so much! I’m going with Morning Means TV, Give the People What They Want, The Punch Out, Citations Needed, and Democracy Now for a solid wrap of news podcasts

Anyone know how to get a hold of the Hinge Points episodes in a sharable way for a friend who is not a CTH Patreon? I was specifically looking for the Civil War episode and can only find this broken link - (something like c10.patreonusercontent.com, idk it didn’t paste correctly).

My friend is a lib who is super into history and literally argued with me that history is, indeed, simply a collection of unrelated events. An act of randomness. He’s a smart guy too and not entirely a lib, and I was blown away by that

I've seen a lot of reference to it lately so I gave it a try, listened to the first ep about the Russian Revolution. He said something about how opposition to socialist utopia was "human nature" which seemed :LIB: but wondering if I should give it another chance. Or is there anything better in the same vein? Also saw Tides of History mentioned

Like, I see all these other shows making podcast empires (Chapo has one, Rev left has one, etc.) while the podcast of the website continues to only be featured in Intercepted once. You'd think there would be more crossover between them and other left shows considering how popular Gramscian critiques are.

hi comrades, i've set up a new server to host bootleg feeds. some of these come from podking's roundups and some are fetched from the original locations.

let me know if you have any requests, i will add more over time if server space and bandwidth allow.

also, if anyone has any premium subscriptions that they would be willing to share, please DM me. all the files are rehosted and any identifying tokens are scrubbed from the feeds (see the TMK feed for an example feed sourced from patreon).

looking in particular for the following feeds:

  • beep beep lettuce
  • the bottlemen
  • 5-4
  • death panel
  • srsly wrong

The top comments are all calling her a dumbass, especially since Dasha got vaxxed and her Covid was mild. Also some of these comments are really vicious and personal, not that Anna K dosen't fully deserve it since she is the one who cultivated this following and with all the shit she's talked in the past.

Like the old Chapo sub had a contentious relationship with the hosts but we were way more civil than this.

After a long day, I like coming home and playing video games while listening to funny leftist podcasts that don’t really take themselves too seriously. So basically the opposite of revleft radio, citations needed, cushvlogs, etc, as these are usually pretty serious and dense (with info) and require me to devote brain power.

I don’t really know that many podcasts so the only ones that I can really think of that go with what I’m talking about are like pod damn america and (sometimes) true anon. I think CTH and cumtown would also work but I’ve never really given them a chance because I’m not interested in listening to libs.

Danny and Derek give an update on Afghanistan, discuss Based Biden's rejection of European complaining, do a reading series on Obamanaut Ben Rhodes' recent article in Foreign Affairs, and address the appointment of Nicholas Burns and Rahm Emanuel as ambassadors to China and Japan, respectively. They then talk to Emily Atkin, who founded the essential newsletter Heated, about climate change (it's real bad, folks) and what we need to do to make sure humanity makes it past the year 2100.

Thank you to Courtney Rawlings and Don Hughes for their help with the LeMay University ad.

I've been enjoying this podcast from Daniel Bessner and Derek Davison. There's not a lot else on the left that discusses foreign policy consistently and in the terms its really thought of by major actors. Haven't listened to this one yet. They usually drop Fridays.

Sorry, I know debatebro-ism is the 12th type of liberalism :denguin:

Disappointed by Wolff tbh. He's too moralizing, comes off as a Christian Socialist. He's also long winded, yeah I know it was a live debate but he should've been able to make his points more focused. He also hangs on to dead ends (Socialism's definition isn't amorphous, Mondragon is good, etc.) which he doesn't need to. He basically rolls over to Destiny's weird hostility to using history and class relations to explain modes of production, doesn't put enough emphasis in them as processes instead of things that people just enact one day.

Can anyone confirm the facts about the guests in the article? I know it's on fucking medium.com, but the screenshots are fairly damning, and I suppose I'd just like to see if anyone knows if these claims are bad faith or not - I haven't been able to verify much myself.
