I'm looking for recently published research papers. I'm wondering what are the methods of obtaining recently published research papers apart from methods described in the megathread ?

Hi all fellow sailors. After having spent lots of time and effort recently to properly setup my environment, i have put toghether (more for MY personal future reference than anything) the guide linked to this post. It's not done, a few things are missing, but i hope it could be usefull also for more people in the future.

I want to run only qBittorrent through my VPN but with my current setup, I have a namespace for OpenVPN and qBittorrent runs entirely through it. The issue with that is that Sonarr and Radarr can't access it. Because of that, I would like to switch my setup to use a network interface instead. What would be the best way to do that?

Edit: I used this guide, with some changes to make it work on my setup, to set it up. I can also post my docker-compose file here if anyone's interested.

So I am planning on buying an ipad, never owned one before. I have always been an android guy and from what I have heard Ipad os or ios is pretty restrictive in nature so I was wondering how much does it hamper the piracy experience. For example on android I can torrent files of any nature or size without any restrictions and sideload the apk's of paid apps to enjoy them for free, can I still do all this on an ipad or should I just drop the idea and get an android tablet instead ?

Here's a TG4 link for example: https://www.tg4.ie/ga/player/catagoir/siamsaiocht/seinn/?pid=6339798682112

I found this guide – https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/404994-Decryption-and-the-Temple-of-Doom – that has an 'Edit January 2023' example for how to rip from TG4 Seinntóir/Player.

But I get different results. When I do this step...

2. MPD - describes the media and how to get it. Developer Tools (F12 in your browser) select Network tab and enter 'mpd' in the filter box. Then start the video. Copy the url. It will look similar to this, BUT DO NOT USE THIS ONE, get a fresh copy. as it carries a token, which needs to be fresh each use.

...it seems to be the mpd not of the television program, but of the 5-second video of the TG4 logo.

I'm not sure is there still a such a singular [video file URL]. In the "Developer Tools (F12 in your browser) select Network tab" I see lots and lots of 'segments' with .m4f extension coming from Brightcove. My mental model is that when the tutorial was written there was one file, now TG4 have gotten more cautious and split it up into tiny one-second segments. Is this hypothesis right? Is there a way to do Step 2 in https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/404994-Decryption-and-the-Temple-of-Doom ?

I currently pay for Netflix 4K. But I want to watch the content in 4K on my laptop and Netflix won't let me do that since I'm using Linux/Firefox.

I also have a Jellyfin server and rip my BluRays, so I'm used to ripping my own media to stream on my local network. I'd like to rip some of the newer "planet earth" style documentaries from Netflix which is presented in really beautiful 4k video. Is there a guide somewhere which will walk me though how to do this? I imagine I'll have to buy some additional gear to do this, but I'm not averse to that.

If anyone can point me the right direction, I'd be grateful.

edit: I realize there is Office web and it's good but it has nowhere enough features. Also, do you guys think (Open, Libre, Only) office has as many features as Microsoft Excel?

I am taking business studies this year and you really do need excel for that. I can obviously use OnlyOffice Suite which is quite good and will get most of the jobs done, but it's not equivalent to MS Office suite and in business you use what's used most frequently, so yes, MS Office it is. But as much as I realize what a key role Microsoft plays in the Business, I DO NOT WANT TO PAY for it and I certainly DO NOT want to pay a subscription for it, but I want to learn it and the best way to learn is by doing it, so, I want to install MS Office Suite on Linux without actually paying for it, so how can I do it?

Skip this rant: Every freaking thing is a subscription right now, I mean, there's positives to that, but you feel like you own nothing. Don't want to be a conspiracy theorist or anything, but it feels like every company took "You will own nothing and be happy" to heart. Again, subscription model has it's advantages, but I don't want to subscribe to something I know I am going to need for the foreseeable future.

This may be a stupid question, but I just got back into pirating some shows and movies and realize that many of the QxR files are much smaller than what I downloaded in the past. Is it likely that I am sacrificing a noticeable amount of quality if I replace my files with the smaller QxR ones?

For example, I have Spirited Away from 2017 at 9.83 GB, but I see the QxR is only 6.1 GB. I also have the office from 2019 and the entire show (no bonus content) is about 442 GB, while the QxR version is only 165.7 GB. Dates are what they are dated on my hard drive, can't speak to their actual origin, but they would've been from RARBG. (Edit to add: I also can't really speak to the quality of the downloads, back then I was just grabbing whatever was available at a reasonable size, so I wasn't deliberately seeking out high quality movies and shows - a simple 1080p in the listing was enough for me).

I did some side by side on episodes of the Office (on my PC with headphones, nothing substantial), and I don't notice any differences between the two.

Thoughts on this? Are people better at ripping/compressing/whatever now that they can do so at a smaller size without sacrificing noticeable quality?

Ahoy I'm in search of a comprehensive sfx pack that will cover most sfx for dnd 5e spells and generic sounds for ambience.

I've been working for a few days to track down and assemble a free soundpack for myself but for the quantity I need for this project it's starting to look like way more hours than I'm willing/able to commit.

I'm currently working on a program that leverages an LLM to match the last few sentences a GM says to a sound from a database.

So that as the dm is talking they can trigger the listener who will snag 10 seconds of audio and convert it to text and submit it to the Ai to match the sentiment to an audio file which will play automatically. The program is actually in a working state... But basically I need to assemble an enormous library of sfx and it's starting to become an issue.

I have 11 dollars to my name and can't purchase a pack from really any of the services that I've found on google... But I don't want this project to die and I want to try a campaign with my friends and really create a cool ambiance..

Any advice for me?

This is the app called Franco Kernel Manager, one of the best kernel managers that are out there... Even when it was outdated (which I think that's the cause it got booted from the PlayStore?).

I used it to check the process of my phone and monitor the active and idle drain mostly, I paid for it a long time ago, but now it just fails to check the licence and it doesn't let me use it fully... I think there must be a cracked APK over there...

EDIT:

Fortunately the app is back in the store and hopefully that update version comes soon enough!

I'm using my mp3 player to listen to albums. I've been using this site to download my music but it has no track number data. So I have to write that myslef manually. If there's a a program that can download albums for my that'll be great. Ideally I'd want it to do mp3's at 320kbps.

Thanks for all the help!

@piracy Do cracked apps still send data to Google/Android or they bypass them?

I was wondering if while using (trusted) cracked apps they still send data to Google, Android, Meta, etc. or to the app owner.

https://www.220-electronics.com/ is having a sale. I have bought several players from them and they've been great

Now, I know what your thinking, are region free players piracy? Well, it depends which country you live in

I'm trying to get a pdf of Australia in the Global Economy 2024 from my digital copy, but any methods for extracting the books turn out to be more than two years old, and defunct. So, just curious.

I have heard that there iptv services which are really private and don't advertise openly and provide really great services. I don;t remember but i saw it here/reddit that they are available on private trackers' forums. I am on Avistaz, bakabt, torrentleech and few others not worth mentioning. I would like to learn more about them so please let me know

There's a troubleshooting application for MacOS I'd be happy to buy, but the developers only offer it as on a subscription model, which is unacceptable. If I'm going to buy software, I'd better be able to own it and still be able to use that version in 10 years. Subscription is the worst of both worlds -- pay for the thing, but don't get to own it.

I couldn't find a crack of it on torrentmac.net, so now I'm itching to try cracking it myself. I have the free trial downloaded and installed but it expires in a couple weeks. Any tips?

Are there any safe, functional apps for iOS mobile devices (specifically iPhone, but iPad would be nice too) that let you use Youtube without ads? Something like what Youtube Revanced is for Android.

Just a heads up since this doesn't seem to be common knowledge. There are a lot of different services. You can search "residential proxies" or "clean ip address vpn" and similar. Not sure if I'm allowed to name the names of services, but the one I use (not affiliated, just been using it for a few months now) has a US VPN option for $10/mo BUT there's a $20 setup fee. Similar prices for other countries I think. If you use some of the shadier services that use browser plugins and desktop apps to "loan out traffic" then you can probably get them a lot cheaper. Just don't install anything from the shadier ones, use the VPN config files.

Does anyone know what the deal is with Readarr? They say they are having issues with their metadata provider so I can't search books. Does anyone know?

Hello sailors,

as a long time FireTV stick un-enjoyer, I finally decided that the time has come to get rid of this piece of crap I was baited into buying because of the low price. The number of streaming services keeps increasing (splitting content among different servives) and each and every one of them is demanding for an increasing amount of money for a monthly subscription; "buy this movie only" services dont actually give you shi except for the right to stream it for as long as it stays in their library, even though af course you pay 13,99 as if it was a physical copy of a movie. In addition to that, the FireTV is now completely filled with ads. I am tired of this shitty customer treatment, im sailing.

I am not experienced into local media-sharing and management, so I am looking for advice... What's my best move to replace it?

I thought a good idea would be to buy an unexpensive MiniPC that i can put behind the TV? Is that overkill? But what OS would i put into it? A linux distro I am guessing or Android TV? Is there a way I can interact with it using a remote? Are there instead "better" FireTV sticks (no ads and let users install and watch what they want)?

Gimme advice or share your secret setups please :)

Some background. I set up a Jellyfin server for my family to host TV shows and movies for them for free. I finally had enough of Xfinity and switched to T-Mobile 5G home internet, but in doing so, I lost the ability to control my network's port forwarding. I'm spending literally half the previous amount on internet and getting the same speeds, so I don't plan on going back.

What I do plan on doing is setting up a new server at my parent's house and running it on their network. Problem is that I'm 2 hours away. My plan is to use Qbit, jackett, and the arrs to automatically download torrents. Is there any way to automatically rename torrents to match Jellyfin's naming convention for organization and metadata downloads?

Hello all.

So i have setup some Arr apps and i mostly download movies in the highest quality. But i started to notice, With REMUX almost always i got black bars on all 4 sides. Is their a way to prevent Sonarr from grabbing movies that have these black bars? Also whats the point of getting REMUX if it has 4 black bars? the movie gets really small in the middle of the screen.
