Basically the title.

More details : My gf's teacher basically sent them a link to download a pirated version of Photoshop to work on some minor thing. We live in a developing country where piracy is the norm even in universities and the like, because no student has the means to buy it. I just want to know if it's likely safe to download from there.

This is probably a ridiculous question, but I usually stream from my laptop to my LG tv or my phone to any other tv, and I find that using my VPN keeps the casting output option from working. Like in Popcorntime, the Watch Now doesn't show my tv, only the laptop app or VLC. On my daughter's fire stick I can't even cast to it unless I turn my VPN off.

I don't have any problem streaming Plex or Emby from my laptop to the tv. Is there a way to cast without compromising my privacy?

Hey i was playing around with my sonarr/radarr containers, i wanted to get the permissions right. Everything was just 777. They are in containers with -e PUID=1000 -e PGID=1000. When i set their folders to 700 and chown 1000:1000 the folder. If i go in the container i can read write all i want and outside the container the permission is like excpected to the 1000 user, but when i wanna add it as root path it shows the top dir but nothing below it.

Does someone know how to fix this? Now i set the dir back to 777 and its working but i would like to restrict it more. Thanks for your time!

Type some random doubts here

1- it's better to use the native player or go for VLC 2- differences between superflix and peerflix. I'm having some issues of search for a movie, appear in name but it is another movie (like The Lost Weekend: a love story) also today began to have another problem of http error in some superflix movies (Magical Mistery Tour)

I have a library of videos that I've downloaded with whisparr running in a docker container. I've had a problem with the sqlite DB getting corrupted on a daily basis. I followed the guide on switching to postgres and it only took about 15 minutes, including setting up a postgres server. I really recommend anyone running it to do that. There's been a noticeable performance boost too.

Pretty much what the title says. I noticed that ProtonVPN Linux has an EXTREMELY limited interface compared to their program on Windows. I also do not appear to have the option to bind qBittorrent to ProtonVPN the same way that I did with MullvadVPN. Has anybody experienced ProtonVPN on Linux and successfully used it for torrenting? It's nowhere near as simple as on Windows, from the looks of it.

So there are multiple sites&groups that pirate video games especially on PC. I was wondering if there are places on the internet where you find source code for games especially the highly modifiable ones like Half Life 2/Portal and Skyrim. Or groups that crack into the source code of games (or even software in general), not only for PC maybe PS, XBox or mobile too, and share it. I just wanted to see some code samples of games or their engines, maybe I get hooked into video game design. Shout out to Valve for sharing a lot about the creation of Half Life 1

I used to spend a lot of time on news:// protocol back in the 90s, but haven't touched it for good 20 years or so.

Could anyone point me to a good primer on how to use USENET for piracy? Looking for advice on client software, or webapps, good services worth paying the subscription that will give me access to all the right newsgroups and archives.

Last time I used news, all this stuff was free, so I'm at a bit of a loss on what's worth paying for.

Btw, I did try looking for answers before turning to Lemmy, but ended up with just a ton of SEO garbage articles designed to serve ads, waste time and provide no real answers :(

[ ENG ] Title says it all I wanna know if there's a Streaming Site/App that has Movies/Series on Latin American Spanish that isn't shady, and preferably doesn't require an account

Any help is appreciated!

Hi guys! I'm kinda new in stremio, and don't understand quite well how do I search subtitles if they don't appear ASAP (Spanish subs). Any addon to recommend? It's better to play on external player or with native?

I've noticed that there's generally good coverage of big-name games, and while that's cool and all, there are still a ton of lesser-known games trapped exclusively on platforms like Steam. Anyone know what sites are more likely to have them?

This release, I2P 2.4.0, continues our effort to improve the security and stability of the I2P network. It contains significant improvements to the Network Database, an essential structure within the I2P network used for discovering your peers.

The congestion handling changes will improve network stability by giving routers the ability to relieve congested peers by avoiding them. This will help the network limit the effect of tunnel spam. It will also help the network heal during and after DDoS attacks.

The NetDb changes also help secure individual routers and the applications that use them. Routers can now defend against attackers by separating the NetDB into multiple "Sub-DB's" which we use to prevent information leaks between applications and the router. This also improves the information available to Java routers about their NetDB activity and simplifies our support for multihoming applications.

Also included are a number of bug fixes and enhancements across the I2PSnark and SusiMail applications.

As usual, we recommend that you update to this release. The best way to maintain security and help the network is to run the latest release.

The trackers I’m in are very heavily movie/tv focused. Aside from RED, is there another good tracker (that’s relatively easy to get in to and survive) that has a lot of older music in it?
