Hello all. I was looking for a specific Car diagnostic software package and I noticed that this type of software doesn't come across often on the seas. are their any good places I can go to start looking for this kind of software. The software often cost up to 500 dollars or more and for me it would be a one time maiby 2 time use.

using IPFS on Z-Library? (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

ok maybe i'm just being a dumbass. I'm getting textbooks off of z-library per the megathread, as they are the only site that lists the specific books I need currently. I am browsing via TOR.

I can't seem to see a download button or link for the books I am looking for, nor for any other book I open. Maybe this is because I don't have an account. But let's say I don't feel like making one, because that means spinning up another burner email, and and and.... idk. I'm lazy.

I thought I'd be nice and access the content via the IPFS CID using the IPFS desktop node/app thing from here. Zlibrary lists IPFS CID's for all books they host. That will save server load on them and likely be faster for a couple of the 200+MB PDF's.
But it absolutely can NOT find any of the CID's that z-library gives for any of it's content, whether I click browse or inspect in the search box or use the import function, even after I let it sit and run on my extra seed PC for two days to populate the peer list.

I know IPFS must be working as some of the test CID's I used from the tutorial imported ok.

am i being dumb? am I missing the fundamental purpose of the IPFS CID's here or something?

Anybody know a good resource to download coloring books. I'm looking preferably for like kids coloring books, like frozen or bluey or ones like that that I can print out for my kiddo. I've check all my normal areas, and the ways that I download ebooks. But I'm not finding coloring books.

I know there are a bunch of sites that have free printouts. But it just gets tedious downloading them, saving them and then having to print them that way. There's also huge differences in quality of the art. I was just curious if there's any compiled ones already online for download.

What are your secret tips for streaming different series online. I only need 1080p but I'm also fine with 720p.

Other than FOSS games for android/ emulators, is there a way to get games that are privacy respecting and free. I've seen versions of games, including paod games on piracy sites and I wonder if they are infact better. My niblings love usimg my phone for games but havent liked anything yet, tolerate lato and towerjumper at most. Also towerjumper hasnt had an update since 2019, should I uninstall it?

Hey there, I've been using for example abjects irc for some time now with great pleasure, but it's kind of bothering me that I don't find a way to automate it in some way.. I wanted to try Overseerr and radarr, etc., but I noticed then, that those don't support ircs/xdccs.

Does anybody have a way with Plugins or something to enable xdccs on those?

I also found cli xdcc downloaders, but those are not offering search options.

Then I tried using irssi, for now this would kind of be enough, together with other measures. But I am not able to configure it nicely and there are many question marks on that.

Does anybody know a different/better irc cli client, which also supports xdcc?

I'm open for all hints belonging to xdccs :) Torrenting isn't my thing tbh.

Greetings :)

I am specifically searching for early (and new) episodes of the Community Service Radio show put on by The Crystal Method.

Early shows in the early 90s were college radio broadcasts in California, and later moved to SiriusXM shows.

Mixcloud has a good chunk, but nothing before eps 60ish or anything recent. Google and DDG sleuthing yield no hidden treasures.

Does such a niche interest and community exist anywhere that would have such bounty?

Arrr, and all that.

I decided to share this here too since sailors don't seem to visit !opensignups@lemmy.ml and the murky waters of the orange sea should be seldom visited anymore.

► What is a private tracker?

Private trackers are loosely defined as private torrent sites where a membership is required in order to download their torrents. An accurate description would separate private trackers into 2 parts: the tracker itself and the website that accompanies it. A torrent tracker is a server that tracks peers in a torrent swarm and assigns/connects peers to each other based on its own internal criteria. The tracker then reports to the website which, on top of providing a download link to the torrent file, will display all relevant info for that torrent, including peer/seed counts and optionally a peer list if the website operator chooses to include it.

Unlike public trackers, these are not a free-for-all buffet. You need to contribute back (by uploading) a certain amount proportional to the amount you have "taken" from the tracker. This arrangement can vary a lot from tracker to tracker. Private trackers track this balance of contribution by a "ratio", which is simply a ratio of uploaded data, divided by your downloaded data. If you downloaded a total of 2GB and uploaded a total of 4GB, that would make your ratio a 2.0. Trackers will sometimes have different methods of maintaining an acceptable ratio, either by offering bonuses the longer you keep your torrents seeding, to providing "half-leech" or "freeleech" content. Freelech content is the most commonly used method, which means the torrent that is marked as freeleech is free to download, meaning it does not count against your Download stats, giving you an opportunity to gain upload from it without sacrificing any "download buffer". Some torrent trackers are "ratioless", meaning they don't require you to maintain any sort of ratio in order to keep using the site, they just require a minimum seed-time on all downloaded torrents (which is usually also a requirement on ratio pure trackers, but typically the seed-time isn't as lengthy as on ratioless trackers).

Hello frens,

As a great opponent of any form of IP, I have been following the event of Disney's Steamboat Willie entering the public domain with great amusement. The incidents where creators have been falsely demonetized on youtube for rightfully using this film is further underpinned by Disney's decades-long shameless practices. The linked article sums it up quite well I think.

hi all, i saw a post (or perhaps it was in the comments) about 1-2 weeks ago of a website to download any youtube/vimeo/instagram/tiktok/whatever video/audio in many different formats. it was a FOSS website. dark background, with maybe red text in places? on mobile, it had tabs on the bottom for video/audio/other.

i tried searching for it for a while now with no success. was hoping someone here mightve seen it too and bookmarked it..

i remember finding it via a lemmy post or comment.

if anyone can help me out its greatly appreciated!

thanks yall <3

I mostly do everything on my phone and I've found cloudstream satisfies my needs with a surprisingly negligible amount of effort. Is there something very much like that but for audiobooks (and possibly ebooks)?

I don't have a lot of HDD space so I only seed torrents that I download to ratio of 2. Recently I discovered Stremio and torrentio add on. It is nice and l like the simplicity, but isnt it only leeching? I couldn't find anything in settings that would enable seeding. If it is only leeching idk if I want to use it.

For example if your total ratio is 0.60, set the target ratio to 1.67.

I recently checked back on the PiratedGames subreddit after long while not being there. And I wonder what other people here think but in my opinion, the quality of the subreddit has gone downhill.

Most posts from what I see are now ‘’meme’s’’, ‘‘I justify pirate because..’’ and ‘’This is my collection!’’. Pretty much just hurr-durr look and upvote me kind of content.

Actual content to help with problems, discussions (besides, I justify it because) are not there.

I know this is kind of an ironic because, this post isn’t necessarily a helpful thing either. So apologies for that.

Also what is the smartest thing to do, follow the megathread here, there or both?

The more I check Reddit, the more glad I’m that the original Moderator of PiratedGames went to Lemmy.
