Help! I cannot figure out how to share files on Soulseek. I had one file set up at the start (I wish I had known that this would be an immediate requirement or I'd have been better prepared before installing Soulseek) but there's no option for adding new files. Under "Options" --> "File Sharing" there's a box for file sharing but it only gives me the option of REMOVING the shared file, there's no option for adding one, and I removed the only files I had been sharing because I thought maybe it was set up as a one-at-a-time thing so now I'm sharing nothing at all and I'm kind of freaking out.

Please, I want to share files but I'm not a software engineer like pretty much literally everyone else. I'm also very mentally unhealthy so please, I know that it's kind of standard procedure to be a dick on the internet but I can't handle it, I just need help. Please. Please. Please.

I started using Soulseek this week for the first time, and one of the first things it prompts you to do is share some files. Okay, this is reasonable, so I set up a share file but it's really small because A) I did not know I would have to have things already set up before starting an account and B) I do not know how to change things.

Under "Options" -> "File Sharing" there is a box that shows where downloaded stuff goes followed by a box that says "Shared Folders" but there's only an option to remove shared folders, not one to add a new folder.

I do not speak the language of software engineers.

Soulseek has been pretty good for downloading stuff so far but I did get a message from someone saying I should share more stuff and I want to share more stuff I just don't know how.

Since we are all pirates moving away from Lemmy I was thinking if another r/Megalinks style community could be made on Lemmy and survive? (Or pehaps already exists?)

For those that don't know Reddit pirate history, r/megalinks was a sub where people shared links to megaupload usually for files for download. It was a very unique hub and usually had some rare stuff that downloaded quickly thanks to the uploaded service not being p2p. I actually still have a full back up of it that I'll check for stuff I can't find and they'll still be working.

But as Reddit got bigger posts kept getting hit with takedown requests until Reddit itself got sick of it and banned the community. Eventually the community there made Snahp, which is very good but it's private status makes it feel a bit small compared to the old megalinks sub in terms of available options.

Posting links is sort of a strange grey area, even more so than torrent hosting, But idk what the reality of having a community like that would be. Sure an instance owner can say "I won't care" but if it gets too big and the MPAA starts getting pissy, it might not be worth it to them. But with Lemmy's growth and services like Debrid existing now, it would be better than torrenting for the most part. (I also use UseNet yes, but it's not great for old or aging content)

I see more and more (I assume young) people that are bootlickers on r/piracy that I'm wondering the following.

IF, the real productive people, like the mods on that sub like db0 for example, come here, and there is still people there is it really important to have a sub there?

You see, if there is no productive conversation going on that sub, because the people who are productive came here, that sub will die off, but slowly.

At least we got rid of the bootlickers, right? Also, as always piracy always gets banned, if a site gets too big, too mainstream. r/piracy was mainstream. It's better if that sub is the frontpage of piracy, but the real important things are happening here.

My request for the mods: Next time, when there is a need for an update of the megathread, don't update there. No need. Just do it here. It helps lemmy more that way.

I'm thinking about getting Lucky Patcher. Is it safe? Where is the official place to get it from?

Thx in advice.

i'm thinking of getting a smartwatch to possibly replace the need for a phone (if it fails i'll use it to go on runs instead of having a chunky phone with me), trying to google it i've mostly seen watchface piracy but nothing about apps

Just got DMCA takedown notices from Github for my rarbg dump forks. The originals were also taken down.

As in title. What's your experience with it? If something isn't executable, then it has to exploit vulnerability in order to run anything malicious. But does it happen often with mp4, mkv and other files like mp3 or epub?

I assume that if I use updated linux, then I'm mostly safe?

You know, a reason why we liked reddit and stackexchange is the upvotes/awards and that the site tells you what the post owner liked (which is supposed to be the answer you're looking for). what is the alternative here ? or does the admin add a bot to do this stuff on the instance ?

also the search ! we used to use google search and write reddit or stackexchange after what you searched, or like site:mathstackexchange.com at the end of the search query, how do I search for content that I want on this "fediverse" ? or at least in an instance ?

if the question should have been asked elsewhere please tell me, I still struggle with the fediverse

So IVPN is also removing port forward. Who's next?

3590

I don't know if the mods of this comm even have any control over the sub anymore after the admin intervention, but I think this would be the most reasonable outcome.

It's currently listed as the fallback forum, which is a damn shame because the sub is a big source of users; it's why I moved too.

People who do want a better alternative with 3rd party apps can only move if it's properly listed.

Listing it even as a sister community would be better than what it is right now.

Does anyone have any recommendations for where i can get UK TV? Specifically im looking for more niche stuff that dont hit mainstream. (currently tryna find "The Overlap on Tour") Ideally public trackers, but a private tracker with some way of getting in is better than nothing i guess.

Thanks

I recently started exploring the wonders of the *arr world but I struggled to setup my Sonarr and Radarr profiles so that I could prefer "German DL" files. After working on it for a few weeks I think I've found a pretty good solution now.

If you find any flaws or have suggestions I'd like to hear them of course!

Hey guys,

I'm a member of several really good private torrent trackers so I have no issue downloading movies and shows. However, sometimes I like to have live TV in the background while I'm working. I haven't been able to find a reliable way to do this since Mobdro went down. Are there any options?

I'm preferably looking for something that has an Android TV app, although I'd be open to buying a little set top box as long as it isn't too expensive. I've done a bit of research and have seen quite a few vague mentions of 'IPTV services' but I don't quite understand how that works...

Deluge has this nice plugin called scheduler that let's you program at which time the torrents should download/seed, if you have a small homeserver on something such as a raspberry pi you can just schedule deluge to work when you're asleep, this way you can seed/download while not impacting your bandwidth when you need it, very useful to really slow connections (like mine).

This way you can keep seeding for months without even noticing!

I know it's a dumb question but what are the chance for a 0 seeder torrent to suddenly be active again? Do I just need to wait it out?

3597

So I've not seen it mentioned before, but if you want to start getting into private trackers, you can check out the private tracker general thread (/ptg/) on the /g/ board of 4chan

4chan is what it is, but there is a lot of good info in just the OP (please read the OP entirely before posting, I beg of you), and that's how I got into private trackers

PS: you wont get any invite, dont ask for them

Is it possible to add eMule as a source for Radarr or Sonarr? I've noticed that eMule is often used for older content.

Is UTR still around anymore? They seem to have stopped posting on 1337 and their website is no longer, I was wondering if they were still around

I'm going to buy a kindle paperback (I've never had one), and I'm sure I'm not going to buy any books for it. What mods/steps/other stuff do you guys suggest to set it up?
