This project is dead, is there anything comparable that's updated?

Everyone here is talking about how to get the latest and best stuff, but no one is talking about how they actually manage it 😜

So, how do YOU manage your Movies / Shows / Music / eBooks / Games?

I begin:

  • Plex for Movies / Shows / Music
  • Kavita for eBooks and Manga
  • Romm for my Gamecollection and Roms (it supports PC games aswell)

I really like Audiobookbay for discovering new books, but if I'm searching for something specific it is a bit annoying to navigate with their sometimes broken search and the vague categorization. Seeding is also sometimes sparse, especially with older uploads..

Does anyone know good alternatives? There doesn't seem to be an audiobook category in the megathread (yet) ;)

Thing is, I have the batman series from the 60s that I downloaded a long time ago. I deleted the torrent but I want to seed again because I remember it having like 1 or 2 people seeding and I have better internet nowadays, I have two questions on this:

  1. Is there a way to find the torrent directly from metadata on the files or some other way instead of having to search on sites until I find it?

  2. If I were to find a different upload of the same files, can I just verify the files I have and start uploading directly without having to download them first?

r/Piracy on Reddit is more of a meme subreddit. I've never seen any actual discussion or valuable information as I do on this community. Why is that?

Do you know where I can stream succession?

A friend of mine shared this with me i though i could also share this with y'all

It seems many of the public Torrent trackers took down their RSS option. Are there any non-private trackers that have solid RSS feeds of their torrents?

Almost always my movies even though i have tons of music, and always the most obscure shit. I have Disney movies and Breaking Bad, but people go for the auteur french sci-fi animated features.

Soulseek gives me much the same joy of sharing as torrent does, perhaps more so because it's one-on-one with a username instead of an IP.

It's very easy to contribute to Soulseek as opposed to torrent, you just mark your shared folders. I think there's probably more content as a result, at the cost of the inefficiency of multiple people offering the same thing. Which i'm not sure matters.

I don't know if the rooms are really worth it. You only get the messages starting when you logged in, so you can't catch up to what happened before; this problem is particularly relevant because most rooms are dead; those that aren't dead consist of a lot of vicious arguments; and it's live chat anyway, never my favorite format for discussion.

I prefer Soulseek to eMule just because it works, but i also found it simpler.

Unfortunately my VPN doesn't play well with Soulseek, apparently it doesn't support port forwarding? I'm not sure how to fix this. It may in fact have been a problem when torrenting too the whole time and i didn't notice.

Overall i really enjoy Soulseek and will probably always have it in the background, it's pretty great!

I think maybe 3/4 of you already knew this, but it is just beautiful to see piracy represented in a nice song, still makes me dream of a free web 😢

I'm already loving the quality of posts and discussions I'm seeing here. There's a reason why we're consistently in the Top 10 of all lemmy communities!

With all the reddit 3rd party apps shutting down today (RiP Sync) I expect to see a big influx of users. And our new user application inbox is overflowing as well. I hope y'all will put the new blood through the steps!

Keep up the great content mates!

Influx of Lemmy brothers and sisters incoming. Already 3K and growing deep, we may as well rebuild together. Let's do this! 🤝

Edit : Yes there are workarounds using Revanced. Check the comments for some awesome help on how to do this if you wish! Just know, in the future it will most likely end up being patched annoyingly and I therefore recommend looking forward to the future with us here.

A good example of why GitHub and similar sites/services are not reliable or good places to publicize this sort of data.

It seems kind of dubious that the DB could be DMCA'd for containing copyrighted videos, when it actually doesn't 🤔

The ones listed in the wiki are either very troublesome or have dead links. Do ya’ll know any good ddl sites or trackers for them?

I am using this right now but if someone have any better recommendation it would be appreciated.

Title. Have fun and patience, because downloads off archive are very slow.

Also, if y'all know a decent place to share some of that stuff again, comment so me and others can grab it off the archive and reup it elsewhere for easy access

EDIT: Not everything is still archived. Just tried to peruse Starfinder folder, and it has been deleted from Archive. Some other folders and files are still working

Is there a good tracker for TV shows? I've looked on torrentgalaxy and 1337 and having trouble finding some shows and the mega thread seems really barebones.

I haven’t really worried about cracked games since I started using Steam years ago but I had a bit of a revelation today regarding my willingness to play something and my willingness to pay for it. So my question is are there any risks to the standing of a Steam account if you play cracked games on the same system?

Hey everyone,

I am new to the community and have some questions regarding safely seeding torrents.

  1. When using a seedbox, should I be using a VPN (to access the control panel) on my end at all times? I am worried that the seedbox IP will be discovered by copyright groups and they will figure out who I am by contacting the seedbox provider.

  2. Is it safe to be paying in Bitcoin? I know Monero is the safer option, but I haven't found much support for that and I'm not even sure if the copyright groups will have the means to track Bitcoin anyway.

  3. What can possibly happen assuming I am found to be seeding copyrighted material through a seedbox. Would I just receive a DMCA notice or C&D, or would it be more severe?

  4. Should I lean more towards being paranoid, I am not planning on becoming a big seeder and I'm sure there's bigger fish for these groups to worry about, but you never know what the future holds. Are these groups known to have a lot of resources to track seeders down?

Thanks for any help, and if there's something important that I'm missing, please let me know!

Browse through thousands of Roms from a myriad of consoles

The 3DS Modders of you might know this page aswell as myrient is the backbone of hShop. But to all the others, enjoy this wonderful fileserver!

It contains nearly every ROM i searched for. The newer consoles are not on it (Switch, PS4, etc.) but all the retro consoles, heck even up to the 3DS, is all there.

You can connect to it via FTP, Rsync or browse the fileserver straight from their website.

They got different repacks of the games and usually offer all different regional releases.

Have fun with it!
