I haven't updated my music instrument library in years, especially since newer official software doesn't play well with pirated plugins. The last time I downloaded VSTs was 2012ish, back when PB and KAT were still good sources. Music technology (and the instruments people like to listen to) have taken a huge leap since then. I do mostly pop and jazz, so I've got East West, Session Horns, Session Strings, Broadway Big Band, Kontact, and a couple miscellaneous Native Instruments plugins. Does anyone know of production level VST sources for newer versions of these or better software?

All,

I've been deliberating over this ever since I got usenet and got access to easy downloads of 70-80gb 4k remuxes. At first I believed I was getting fake uploads or something, but it seems to be a pattern. The remuxes have extreme noise that's really distracting and actually discards some of the depth information of the scene.

on the other hand, the smaller 265/264 files appear to be smoothing out the noise, but also some texture detail. You can see from the comparison above.

Note that the noisy version is hdr10 and the non noisy version doesn't have hdr.

My question is, is that grain supposed to be so prominent? or is the scene releasing these remuxes pulling some shortcuts just to release a remux?

Is this noisy version how it's supposed to look? or did they fuck up the encoding? Don't flame me for not knowing. I'm hoping this can be a touchpoint for constructive conversation, and to help other confused mateys on the journey to visual bliss. Thank you

edit::

This resource helped me understand. Long story short, this is the intent of the director - potentially enhance the period piece aesthetics. I suppose if it looks as crisp and sharp as a movie filmed on the state of the art digital camera, some of the cold war aesthetic would be lost. I get it and I will watch it and enjoy the graininess as the director intended 😂

A couple things that confused me:

  1. I know sometimes scene groups take shortcuts and this can really affect quality. For example transcoding x264 to x265. Yes, some groups do this and it's of no use to anyone. My concern was that I may be downloading one of these releases.

  2. There are movies from 40-50 years ago with very little to no film grain noticeable. Many remuxes don't have that grain. I'm not big in the filmmaker scene, so I guess it was somewhat a surprise to learn that some filmmakers actually want that grain in there..

Thank you all for your input and I hope this thread can be of use to folks that have this same question. Cheers mateys, happy sharing :)

So, I've used different sites like soccerbite or nflbite but I spend half the game trying to find a stream that doesn't freeze every 5 seconds and require a browser reload. Is there anything as sophisticated as the *arr suite for live sports? I'm assuming an iptv set up is the solve but I don't know where to start looking there and if I can integrate it into my system or if it lives in isolation.

Some time ago I gave up using sonarr & radarr to watch (popular) tv shows and movies because the search just stopped giving decent results. Now I heard that rarbg has also quit.

So I am wondering, is this still a thing?

  1. Plug in the dvd

  2. Run lsblk to see if it got detected

  3. Run dd if=/dev/cdrom of=dvd.dvd status=progress

  4. You can now play the ripped dvd using mpv: mpv dvd://0/dvd.dvd

If you need to get rid of digital restrictions management, you can try this guide

I have some good PDF ebooks I'm willing to share, but I suspect the seller embeds some tracking data in them to link them to my account, as every time I download them from the official website they have a different hash while being visually identical. The same when checking against the copies a friend bought from the same seller. Since I dont wanna get banned, can you recommend a way to remove that stuff?

I downloaded Dave the Diver from fitgirl the other day and have decided I want to buy it from steam. Is it as simple as copying the save folder/file? I looked it up, the only thing I found was someone currupting both versions of the game. I really don't want to lose my progress, I've already played for around 10 hours.

I downloaded the first 8 through a torrent, but I think there are 12-13 copies. This isn’t mushoku tensei, so both annas archive and zlib have failed me. I would apreciate if people here could provide more niche websites to search.

I've been putting off renewing my mullvad membership because of the port forwarding thing. I only want to use it for torrenting. Is it really crucial to find a VPN that supports port forwarding? If so, what's the go to option now that it's becoming increasingly uncommon?

I'm looking something the can download mp3 from Spotify. All the direct download sites in the mega thread don't have what I'm looking for. All the web app just scrap youtube and keep getting wrong songs or covers. And I'm to stupid to get any of the pc apps to work with out a step by step guide.

Is there an addon for playnite to automatically download cracked games, comparable to game pass for pirated games?

I’m in a couple good PTs and noticed I can get better content there then on public trackers usually, been PT only for almost half a year.

So to primarily PT users, what are your favorite PTs and why?
