Hi everyone! I'm planning to deploy my server with an ARR-Suite and would appreciate some tips and tricks before I start, so I don't have to tear it down later. I want to automate it as much as possible while keeping it relatively simple, as I'm a beginner.

Firstly, I'm looking to download movies, TV shows, and some audiobooks. I am interested in using both Usenet and Torrents. I am German and prefer most of my media to be in German. I understand that most torrent trackers and Usenet groups are in English, but I'm primarily looking for German content. Can you recommend some public trackers or groups for this?

I understand that if you want to use private trackers and contribute to the community, you should seed for extended periods. How can I set it up so that I can seed for a long time while still using the files, renaming them, and moving them to my preferred directories without disrupting the seeding process? Are there any good tutorials or videos you would recommend?

I have tried to start this project multiple times, but I often run into the issue of wanting an automated system that renames and organizes these files into my desired directories without destroying the seeding process and without duplicating files, as I have limited storage.

If this post is not appropriate for this community and should be in a homelab forum, please let me know. I would love to hear about your setups and best practices.

I discovered this by accident. It may not work 100% of the time.

If you create a patreon account using a simplelogin alias, patreon will automatically flag it as suspicious after a few minutes and delete the account.

This means you can make an account. Purchase whatever you wanted and wait. The account will be deleted as suspicious and the money is automatically refunded.

Looking for a place to find the Windows version of this without paying $20 for a single version or $5/month for regular updates

EDIT: which one of you mad lads did this? https://codeberg.org/WetOtter44/StrawberryMusicPlayer

Recently my music downloader of choice yams.tf shut down. It was the only place I got music out of convenience. It's the only apple music ripper on fmhy. Now, I can't get new music and lyrics. I'm looking for a solution to this, whether that be self hosting(I only do FOSS) or a better downloader. Just note that I value organization and consistent file metadata.

Thank you very much for any suggestions.

Update: Decided to go with Torzu from the AUR. Thanks for all of your responses, everyone.

Hello, as in the title I'm searching for this classic anime remastered from blu-ray. I'm not german nor japanese and finding it is difficult. Could someone with more insight in those countries's warez's and torrents help me out?

Anybody else had this issue.

I have a media server setup with Plex and Jellyfin and now people here prefer Jellyfin but Plex is available on more devices and my users prefer it.

Now I tried watching several movies on iPhone via Plex app and it kept freezing and I had to exit and start again and half the time it wouldn’t remember where I was. I tried to watch the same movies on Jellyfin, again on iPhone and no issue.

Any thoughts? I did watch a movie at my friends on Plex through Firestick with no issue so not sure if it’s iOS or my home network and Plex or something else.

Hello there. I'll cut to the chase: I dont want to buy nzb finder subscription to for 18 files. I daily use nzbgeek and its more than sufficient but I could not find there third remastered season of garfield and friends. And look, this stuff is unique, i think is not available anymore on any streaming. I was able to get everything in full hd from geek, but they lack third season. Its on nzb finder but damn, I literarly need it for a day, not the whole year. sooo i need help guys :)

I switched to windscribe last month because the proton CEO starting spewing politcal BS, and I wanted port forwarding that wasn't locked behind a shitty GUI.

As far as I was concerned setup was super easy, the VPN speeds were great, and port forwarding worked really nicely. The whole price for a fixed server and port forward, + unlimited data was a bit much (at $95/year) but for the ease of use and speeds I was getting, I was happy to stick with them.

My setup is a always-on server with a 1gbps connection, where yes, I fucking seed my shit, all of it. I have about 30TB of linux ISOs and counting, and it's rare that my combined upload speed is less than 1MBps, ever.

Which lead me to getting banned from windscribe with no notice or warning in the middle of last week. This lead to me having to spend tracker points to avoid HnR, and i'm also unable to grab any new ISOs until I find a new VPN provider that won't ban me for actually using the service full time.

I did shoot them an email (after talking' with their AI bot first), and they were actually helpful enough. The offered to restore support, so long as I promised to not torrent with them again (which, I honestly did promise not to. I'm not sticking with a VPN service that can't handle me actually using it for what it's advertised for) and they did unban the account. Whole email chain took about three days to get resolved.

My sticking point is that they still have instructions on setting up torrents on their own website, and that they specifically allow for unlimited data (with the plan i paid for) so long as it's just one user. I did not break those rules. After clarifying that in the support email, they still said that I was using too much data (despite the unlimited data advertisement) and that torrenting was not allowed on their service.

TL:DR: Windscribe bans you if you use a lot of data, and support says torrents aren't allowed, despite their website advertising such. Proof in the attached images.

If y'all have any other suggestions for a VPN that allow port forwarding i'd really appreciate it.

I was made a moderator of !retropirates@lemmy.dbzer0.com a while back, but now I'm not sure what to do with it. Direct links to newly dumped titles would be a violation of rule 3 (only reason I left the Grimace's Birthday post up is because the game was free in the first place so who cares). !roms@lemmy.dbzer0.com exists, and it itself is already niche but more popular than !retropirates@lemmy.dbzer0.com...

I'm not sure what to do with it that couldn't already be done in !piracy or !roms@lemmy.dbzer0.com... Do y'all think there's a good place for it on here? What would be a good way to differentiate it from !roms@lemmy.dbzer0.com and !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com?

Translating the Debian install instructions to tor network use, we have:

  torsocks wget https://apt.benthetechguy.net/benthetechguy-archive-keyring.gpg -O /usr/share/keyrings/benthetechguy-archive-keyring.gpg
  echo "deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/benthetechguy-archive-keyring.gpg] tor://apt.benthetechguy.net/debian bookworm non-free" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/benthetechguy.list
  apt update
  apt install makemkv

apt update yields:

Ign:9 tor+https://apt.benthetechguy.net/debian bookworm InRelease
Ign:9 tor+https://apt.benthetechguy.net/debian bookworm InRelease
Ign:9 tor+https://apt.benthetechguy.net/debian bookworm InRelease
Err:9 tor+https://apt.benthetechguy.net/debian bookworm InRelease
  Connection failed [IP: 127.0.0.1 9050]

Turns out apt.benthetechguy.net is jailed in Cloudflare. And apparently the code is not developed out in the open -- there is no public code repo or even a bug tracker. Even the forums are a bit exclusive (registration on a particular host is required and disposable email addresses are refused). There is no makemkv IRC channel (according to netsplit.de).

There is a blurb somewhere that the author is looking to get MakeMKV into the official Debian repos and is looking for a sponsor (someone with a Debian account). But I wonder if this project would even qualify for the non-free category. Debian does not just take any non-free s/w.. it's more for drivers and the like.

Alternatives?

The reason I looked into #makemkv was that Handbrake essentially forces users into a long CPU-intensive transcoding process. It cannot simply rip the bits as they are. MakeMKV relieves us of transcoding at the same time as ripping. But getting it is a shit show.

I am not in a place where I can afford a VPN (do not start suggesting cheap VPNs to me istg), and in addition, you have to place a lot of trust in the VPN. Tribler seems promising, except... For the giant disclaimer that's been on the site for years. That worries me. I am quite worried about getting scary letters from my ISP or something when torrenting.

Do not put yourself in danger. Our anonymity is not yet mature.

Tribler does not protect you against spooks and government agencies. We are a torrent client and aim to protect you against lawyer-based attacks and censorship. With help from many volunteers we are continuously evolving and improving.

Edit: Seems like there are a lot of issues below the surface as well... https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/19118584/10120234

And Lokinet, I2P, and GNUnet have their own massive problems... https://comment.ctrl.blog/discussion/tribler-onion-routed-bittorrent

ngl, kinda depressing that it's like this...

Edit 2: I misread the article a bit, it's not quite as dire as I thought it was initially, but the warning and the fact that only the core file-transferring features are anonymized at all... Is a bit disconcerting.

The site I usually use only has Polsat Sport 1, 2, and 3. But doesn't seem to have the fight specific channel.

Apology if this is the wrong place to ask.

Aiii! I have some rare torrents with only a few active seeders, but I can only seed about 8 torrents at a time due to my very slow server. If I try to seed more, Jellyfin doesn't work properly.

Currently, I select a few torrents to seed for a few days, and then I switch to new ones. However, I feel bad for those who need to download torrents with only a few or no seeders while I have them but not actively seeding. I could activate these "dead" torrents, but I don't want to waste my bandwidth by not seeding most of the time.

Is there a way to automatically detect and activate demanded torrents with no active seeders? While deactivating running torrents which don't are in need of seeding?

Before you send me to the megathread, I have checked there, none of the sites have the files I looking for. Vimm got hit a few months ago and idk where to go.Recommendations for PSP? Mainly looking for capcom games

318

Pretty sure doing so would violate rule 2 and yes a contribution will be made to the piracy community even though I was ridiculed for asking last time

319

Yes. All the yes. I was shaky on it at first, because I really didn't want to dive out of my depth when it comes to piracy (which really only includes torrents). I thought it was going to be confusing, but it really is just "sign up, pay, and get your API key". And the price is right (using realDebrid).

However, I'm a little concerned. This makes it all so easy to stream and such, but what happens when everyone starts using it and torrents are no longer downloaded and properly seeded? Should I go out of my way to download something after I watch it and then seed for a few weeks? I still keep my VPN around, so that's totally an option. I'm using Stremio in conjunction with realDebrid.

I think I just want to know a bit more about how it works and how the P2P functions. I want to be able to give back, but I only seed a few torrents at a time. I just don't have the money for a large seeding server right now (which I may fix with a Pi5 at some point). Seeding is currently my only option/skill in helping piracy stay alive and the digital world stay free.

Off topic questionAs a curious afterthought: Does anyone remember Azureus when it was just Azureus? I had a hard time remembering the name (it changed to Vuze) until the other day when I was listening to this: Teleport Pro Keygen Music (YouTube for those that use other frontends). This tune really brought back some good old memories of the OG (loose term, they're OG to me) torrent pirates and their BANGER keygen music. Legends of their time... I really do look up to them. They're fucking heroes.

Anyone has a guide or can send a sample of the config.js (with api keys and any personal info erased)? I'm having some troubles following the official docs and I can't find info anywhere.

I've been on 1337x, ABC, torrentquest, eztvx, msearch, and pretty much all of the other sites on the megathread, both for "greatest treasures" (the general purpose section) and the movies & TV section specifically. Yet, the show that my wife and I want to watch is nowhere to be found in any of these. We're confused why, as it's not exactly an unpopular show.

Despite it not seeming to exist in a torrent format anywhere, among many other shows, it is forbidden both here and elsewhere to ask for help on finding a specific title. I was just hoping to learn the reasoning why. Is it just because the forum would be flooded with people asking for titles instead of taking the time to dig through the resources? What are people supposed to do when they do dig through the resources then?

A group of prominent intellectual property law professors has weighed in on the high-stakes AI copyright battle between several authors and Meta. In an amicus brief, the scholars argue that using copyrighted content as training data can be considered fair use under U.S. copyright law, if the goal is to create a new and 'transformative' tool. This suggests that fair use could potentially apply to Meta's training process, even if the underlying data was obtained without permission.

This case has a clear piracy angle, as Meta used BitTorrent to download archives of pirated books to use as training material. Notably, the authors argue that, in addition to copying pirated books from Anna’s Archive and Z-Library, in the same process Meta also uploaded pirated books to third parties.

This week, a group of IP Law Professors submitted a “friend of the court” or amicus brief, backing Meta’s fair use defense. The professors, including scholars from Harvard, Emory, Boston University, and Santa Clara University, have different views on the impact of AI but are united in their copyright stance.

The brief stresses that Meta’s alleged use of pirated books as training data can be considered fair use. The source of the training data is not determinative, as long as it’s used to create a new and transformative product, they argue.

“The case law, including binding circuit precedent, holds that internal copying, made in the course of creating new knowledge, is a transformative use that is heavily favored by fair use doctrine,” the professors write.

The professors’ argument is centered around the concept of “transformative use.” They note that using books outside their original ‘reading’ purpose to create an AI model, transforms the purpose of the use. This internal copying, they argue, falls into a category courts have consistently recognized as fair use, also known as “non-expressive use”.

The amicus brief cites several cases to back up their line of reasoning. This includes the Perfect 10 v. Amazon lawsuit, where the Ninth Circuit found that it was fair use when Google created thumbnails using images copied from unauthorized “pirate” sites, because the resulting image search tool was transformative.

The authors cited conflicting cases, but the professors note that cases where fair use was denied typically involved copyright infringement related to personal consumption, rather than use of content to create something new.

The brief distinguishes this case from those cited by the plaintiffs, which involved unauthorized copying for direct consumptive use (e.g., downloading for personal enjoyment). In contrast, Meta’s internal copies were allegedly not perceived by humans but used to build a new tool.

“Fair use, like copyright as a whole, ‘is not a privilege reserved for the well behaved’,” the brief notes. “Fair use doctrine should focus on the consequences of a ruling for knowledge and expression. Other considerations should be left for other legal regimes.”

Other countries, including Japan, have reportedly crafted exceptions in their law to allow tech companies to train LLMs on copyrighted material, without permission.

The U.S. has no such exceptions, but the professors urge the court to consider fair use. As the VCR and other innovations showed, copyright shouldn’t stand in the way of new tools and developing technologies.

For years an absolute champion named CC created great karaoke tracks and kept a Mega archive updated monthly. The Mega link is dead now. If anyone knows a new location I'd appreciate a tip.

CC if you are reading this, and it's all over, thanks for the good times. Your work was epic, and you really helped my karaoke parties.

I was surfing lemmy since some time ago, and checking this community I realized there are missing changes compared with reddit wiki. Is this because of any particular reason?

Edit: Sorry if this was asked before but I couldn't find any post with the topic. I'd be glad to help if possible.
