Hi, In short: will I run the risk of receiving an angry Hetzner e-mail telling me to stop downloading torrents when I configer my local deluge client to connect through a local gluetun VPN client to a selfhosted wireguard vpn on a hetzner server? I have limited knowledge of VPNs but as far as I understand it the connection provided through gluetun from client to server (vpn) is safe, encrypted, private (somewhat) But connections from the (vpn) server to the public tracker is not, right? Or does the vpn tunnel extend to the destination? Context: I am running a deluge torrent client to download and seed torrents coming from radarr and sonarr its all running containerized through docker on my local machine. The Deluge client is using a VPN connection (via Windscribe) through a gluetun vpn client. `https://github.com/qdm12/gluetun.
I am not very happy with the speeds of Windscribe and I have small Hetzner server running with a wireguard vpn container I got working, that I hope should provide a faster download/upload speed.

Hetzner is pretty strict when it comes to downloading torrents from public trackers. A couple of years ago I basically had my plex server and a deluge client running on one of their servers. At first I used only private trackers but some content was not available so I added some torrents from public trackers. A couple of days after I got an angry e-mail from viacom through hetzner telling to quit it.

Does anyone self host their VPN and on what? And do you use it for downloading?

jackett (by the way thanks to those suggesting it here!) lists hundreds of indexers... but how to choose which ones to focus on? Is there an updated repository with some stats and indexing by category, popularity and easiness of access, or forums with reviews? Some basic google searches provide SEO optimized pages listing some of the most popular ones but was wondering whether there was some "insider" "awesome-torrent" repo with this kind of info, thanks!

I'm looking for a a manga that came out in April 2009, It contains 4 different Star Trek TNG stories called;

  • Changeling

Picard assigns newly commissioned Ensign Wesley Crusher to his first away mission. What follows is an amusing lesson in humility for a newbie ensign who's just a little too full of himself. Stardate 43903.2 Trade paperback anthology of manga-style Star Trek: The Next Generation tales. Edited by Luis Reyes and Bryce P. Coleman. ISBN 9781427812728, 5 in X 7.5 in, 192pp, b&w.

  • Sensation

Answering a distress call from an archeological expedition, Crusher and Troi must find the cause of a disease affecting expedition staff that ultimately begins to spread among the crew of the Enterprise. Stardate 44389.2

  • The Picardian Knot

The captain's emotional state is in question following an aborted assassination attempt by a Romulan officer. Stardate 43920.9

  • Loyalty

While Picard is recuperating from his assimilation by the Borg, Riker is called to a secret meeting. Senior Starfleet officers want to sideline Picard and put Riker in command of the Enterprise. The first officer mounts an emotional defense of his captain, with some surprising help from Commander Shelby. Stardate 44012.3

There was also an October 2020 reprint called Star Trek: The Manga - Boukenshin.

Star Trek Graphic Novel Collection Volume 135. Hardcover reprint published in the UK.

More information about it is here & here here.

I have looked at GetComics & LibGen, neither have it, libgen has only a single 2006 TOS manga. I have a usenet subscription if that is helpful. As per the instance rules, I'm not looking for a specific link, I should be able to figure what direction to look next with a point in the right direction.

Is there any Torrent Creator on Linux that supports BEP-47 protocol (optimize alignment) ? It’s okay with or without GUI.

Currently using mktorrent, but does not support this important feature. I didn’t find anything on google.

Any suggestions? thanks.

EDIT: for creating v1 torrent.

My trial is almost up and I'd like to download the videos along with the subtitles if possible.

I know next to nothing about widevine decryption so forgive my ignorance - I was wondering if I download protected files now and get a widevine key later from another device, would I be able to decrypt the file with that key? or must the decryption be done with the same key/device that was used to download the file?

Yeah, it sucks. Spent the evening trying to find two foreign movies. One I couldn’t find anywhere(DDL, public trackers, and a private tracker) and the other I did find but locked behind a paid account for a ddl that I’m not sure is even legit. Combined with an EP I’ve had set on SS for years and combed everywhere. This is why preservation is important y’all

I want to rip the contents of a pay website, but I have to log in to their web site on a web page to get access

Does anyone have any good tools for Windows for that?

I'm guessing that any such tools must have a built in browser, or be a browser plugin for it to work.

I've been using either Spotifymate or doubledouble to automatically plug in spotify playlists and have all the tunes downloaded.

Doubledouble tends to have issues with regionlocking and will freeze a good bit of the way through processing certain playlists, so I've found it less than reliable.

Spotifymate is way more reliable, but when you plug in the link to the playlist, you have to download each song individually. This is not a problem with small playlists, but when you come across larger playlists it makes it a very tedious task. I may just be stupid, but I don't seem to see a way to download the whole playlist with one click.

Anybody know if its possible or should I look for other solutions? I should also add that I would be more than happy to use some sort of software that automatically makes spotify playlists into youtube playlists so that I can download them from youtube directly with jdownloader if that is an option, I just didn't see that anywhere.

Thanks in advance!

AudioBB (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

So I use AudioBB (not to be confused with Audiobookbay) quite often (in conjunction with RD for premium links), looks like site was suspended by hoster for some reason (message posted on their kofi page). I am not sure if this is against the rules (if so, ill delete post or it can be taken down)

Just thought I'd bring this up for those that were wondering . I understand as pirates spending money isnt really part of it. At the end of the day that is fine. Not really asking for donations or anything cause at the end of the day do what you want.

Not posting any links or what not but those that donate can look into it (not that hard) on their kofi

Hey guys, made an account here. I had originally setup an account on the FMHY instance but its been down for the past half a day or so. Anybody know what's going on? Were they hacked or something? Or are they just doing some sort of server maintenance?

Either way, I'm happy to be here with fellow pirates and looking forward to continuing sailing the seven seas with you lot. ARRGH

Ages ago I bought a movie off of a certain company's video streaming service. We will call them GRC for short since I do not want to draw the attention of their bots. I downloaded the movie onto my PC via the GRC Windows 11 app, but rather than a simple .mkv like I hoped, I found a folder with 5 different files. Two of them are .mp4s whose names end with audio_5 and video_12 respectively. Two of the files are something called .MPD files. One of them is something called a .DFXP File.

Does anyone know how I turn this mess into something I can play off a Plex or Jellyfin server? The *_video_12.mp4 is 110% encrypted since nothing plays when I run it through VLC.

Edit 1: I am doing my own research as well. An old thread a few years back claimed Aimersoft could break the encryption, but when I tried to use it the program just crapped out on me. If anyone is reading this and doesn't know the answer, you can help out by upvoting the thread. The more eyes that are on here, the higher the odds we can break this DRM together. Thank you :)

Edit 2: I believe the encryption can be removed with ffmpeg, but I will need to get the WV encryption keys first. Does anyone know how to do this?

Final Edit: From my readings in this thread, and research elsewhere, this sort of project looks to be best done in the hands of pros. Intercepting these keys requires a certain degree of skill I do not have. So to answer the thread's titular question: "Bypass it all together." Get a capture card, HDMI splitter, and just record the movie.

There seems to be a sub-group of salty dogs that sail without protection. They are often US saying they get lots of letters from ISP but nothing comes of it, lately. I'm one to hedge on the side of caution and will be continuing to use VPN but just wondering how much this is just a loud minority and how much truth is to it?

Hi everyone,

So i've been downloading (rsload) from the megathread, and windows defender won't cooperate. I'm basically 99.9% sure there is in fact nothing harmful, but defender detects a virus and refuses to let me set it as an exception. Even if i try it literally refuses to let me and i haven't been able to install anything (software, patches, nada). Anyone know a work around?

Strike 3 Holdings and an alleged BitTorrent pirate were scheduled to appear before a jury this week. True to form, that didn't happen.

Extract

These types of lawsuits rarely make it to a full trial and this case did nothing to upend the status quo. The adult entertainment company and defendant reached a confidential settlement at the eleventh hour, but with both parties reportedly happy with the outcome, who takes the moral victory remains unclear.

Over the past several years, adult entertainment company Strike 3 Holdings has filed thousands of copyright cases in U.S. federal courts... Strike 3 previously informed the court that it repeatedly found an IP address, assigned to the defendant, sharing pirated movies. This was backed up by technical evidence as well as other expert testimony.

Strike 3 sees the outcome as “historic”, in part due to the permanent injunction agreed as part of the settlement deal. ...This injunction, which has yet to be signed by the Florida court, stipulates that the defendant will have to pay $125,000 in damages if they infringe any of Strike 3’s copyrights in the future.

...“The reality was that the raw PCAP data was extremely weak and closed to non-existent. We mapped the PCAPs and recreated .MP4 files from the PCAP data and nothing was playable. Strike 3 could have taken us to trial and they chose not to.”

Now that the trial is out of the way, Strike 3 can focus on the many hundreds of open lawsuits filed at U.S. federal courts. The company is currently on track to set a new all-time record for the number of complaints filed in a year.

As someone who aggressively adblocks everything, one of the final places that ads can still reach me is in annoying ad reads within podcasts. Youtube sponsorblock is incredible but it seems no one has yet adapted this for podcasts. Has anyone else managed to find a solution here? As far as i can tell in my googleing, this doesn't yet exist. Anyone else extremely interested in something that skips/removes sponsor segments from podcasts?

I just got a second-hand Texas Instruments TI-Nspire CX II for school and need the student software to send files to the CAS. However, I did not have the activation code for the programme since the CAS was second hand.
I have looked through the MegaThread but have no luck :(

Hi!

I want to get more into reading but books can be expensive and bulky.

I thought I'd buy a Kindle (or similar) since those screens are pleasant to read on, but I don't know if there's anything specific I should be looking for piracy wise.

Apparently amazon has added support for epubs so I'm hoping it'll make it easier to load with my own downloaded books?

Also, the version names/models of kindles are crap.

Edit2: I've decided I'll buy a paperwhite kindle (2020 version). I found a 2nd hand one, like new, for 80€ with a screen protector + magnetic cover. This way I'm still not supporting amazon :)

Edit: I seem to have posted this same/similar question yesterday but I have no recollection of doing so. If this is something you're interested have a look at that post.
