The same question was archived on r/trackers. Would like to get notified when a compatible tracker is available for testing, it's not even clear if there is an implementation just yet.

The specs are here since 2017 https://www.bittorrent.org/beps/bep_0052.html
Compatible clients are available, at least qBittorrent (from v4.4.0) and BiglyBT.

In the UK, the broadcasting rights for tennis are moving from Amazon prime/discovery+ to sky-sports. The price is increasing from ~£6 a month to ~£35 p/m. I know there’s plenty of live streaming sites available to watch live matches, but when the tournaments are in the US or Australia the time difference doesn’t work. Are there any sites that allow you to watch tennis matches on demand?

I was able to get rid of ads and verification but it gives me an error when trying to buy Sync premium after the general (non custom) patch has been applied.

Might be a bit niche but has anyone found any good sites for davinci resolve presets / plugins?

Can only seem to find Adobe related stuff.

MotionVFX presets would be excellent

I wanted to download a book that is no longer in print, but I discovered LibGen is down on the .onion and on the .fun domain, the .rs domain gives some scary warning message from my router about child pornography. What happened, is my dear LibGen gone?

Hi,

I have a playlist with around 5000 songs. What is the best way for me to migrate from Spotify so I can actually have them, unencrypted, on a physical device. I am tired of songs being taken out of my playlist due to licensing issues.

After trying endlessly for two years to run a file sharing site with user anonymity we have been tired of handling the extreme volumes of people abusing it and the headaches it has created for us. Maybe it is hard to understand but after tens of million uploads and many petabytes later all work of handling abuse was automated through all available channels to be fast as possible. We have auto banned contents of hundreds of thousands files. Banned file names and also banned specific usage patterns connected to abusive material to the point where we did not care if we accidental delete thousands of false positive in this process. Even after all this the high volume of abuse will not stop. This is not the kind of work we imagine when acquiring it and recently our proxy provider shut us down.

This can not continue.

Just a heads up: on my testing, the app seems to crash on Mac. Works fine on Linux though!

hi, so I got somewhat decent speed on my plan atm.

mega is usually what I go for, that gives me max speed dl, but recently got myself a 4k tv and now I wanna dl 4k only content lol. mega have 5gb limit and I gotta switch servers(vpn) every 5gb which is annoying. I think gdrive has put limits also. I love ddl but I think as a free user we are screwed.

torrents, free, I think is wishy washy with speed. I have some experience but if I go this route its best to leave overnight on a laptop and hope for the best the next day that it has been dl'd.

Usenet I got block account sitting there for ages. probably the best speed and no limits from memory. but gotta use my block account which is paid :(

any1 have better ideas? tx 4 reading. feel free to msg me if you don't want to share ur super duper secret 😛

been searching for a bit and can’t find a reputable source for these.

using FCP on mac and looking for plugins/packs (such as the ones made my pixel film studios & motionVFX)

found a few remnants on 1337 but the hosters got mixed reviews from what I saw.

im aware of gfxplug but they seem to be dead.

any suggestions?

Hi there I was wondering if anyone could help me out with an issue I am having with Stremio and Real Debrid.

When I browse for releases in the app on Android TV I see "Error with Real Debrid API key" but if I scroll right of that I see results for RD+ and different resolutions and I can play the files - does this mean it works fine? Any idea how I can resolve this ?

Thanks a lot

Hello all, my apartment has been selected by Nielsen to participate in their program. We don't really watch much TV but the min is 1h/month and we get something like $500 in the first 2-3 months, so that's my incentive to say yes. My concern is of course letting Nielsen know that some of the movies/shows I watch were pirated.

I've talked with one of their techs and this is how it's setup: They hook up a box to my AP, connect it to the network, then mount two RF scanning devices to each TV to listen for hidden broadcast signals and to confirm who is watching by having us check-in with a remote-like device. Then they make sure my TVs/streaming devices are on the same network as their box, and they somehow link them via MAC addresses. Nothing is connected to phones or PCs.

Here's my setup: I'll have a guest network created for the box and I'll move the TVs/streaming devices over to that network when I want Nielsen to see what I'm watching. Everything else is on the main network, and I use VPNs on my PCs and phones anyways. I also have a remote server I connect to via a different AP which has a WG tunnel. From this server I stream movies/TV shows via JellyFin, and when I want to connect to it I switch the TVs wifi connection over to the WG AP.

My concerns:

Can Nielsen see what I'm doing regardless of what network my TVs/Streaming devices are on, due to them having the MAC addresses and everything of course going out via my ISPs WAN?

Does it matter if they detect pirated content? I've heard it doesn't but these things can change I'm sure, and I am in a country where you can get in trouble.

If I were to change networks on my TVs/streaming devices will their box complain? This is something I plan on asking the tech when I talk to him next.

It's hard to find much info on the subject that isn't dated as Nielsen has changed how there setup works in the last few years.

Thank you fellow crew members and Cheers!

The Main Question

I am looking into updating/upgrading my home media server using some old hardware from my main PC, and I would like some advice on Operating Systems. I have used Windows 10 for the life of this server, and I do not know if that would be the best choice for the future.

My main use case is a Plex Media Server with Remote Access and Hardware Acceleration, but I would also like to self-host a few items, including NextCloud and possibly Bitwarden. I have looked into TrueNAS CORE a bit, but I am uncertain how it would handle these Plex features. Regarding Remote Access, Plex says that it requires

64-bit Ubuntu (16.04 or later) or 64-bit Fedora (26 or later) distributions

and that

Compatible FreeBSD servers require Plex Media Server 1.13.9 or newer

Plex also says that other distributions may work with hardware acceleration, but they are not officially supported. They give a list of supported NAS devices, but they do not mention installing TrueNAS on your own hardware.

My experience with Linux kernel OS's is relatively limited. I had to use Ubuntu for university, and I have used ZorinOS and Raspbian/Raspberry Pi OS at various points. I am familiar with the terminal, but I am by no means an expert.

A Few Lists

Why am I considering moving from Windows 10?

  • Tired of unstoppable automatic updates causing unexpected downtime
  • Interested in potentially less resource-hungry OS's
  • Would like to use an OS more suited for a home media server, if possible

What is my current hardware?

  • HP Compaq Elite 8300 SFF
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-3470
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Storage: 500 GB OS Drive, 6 TB Seagate External (STKP6000400)

What is my planned hardware?

  • Motherboard: MSI B250M PRO-VD Micro ATX
  • CPU: Intel Pentium G4560
  • RAM: 8 GB DDR4-2133 (only have 2 RAM slots)
  • Storage: 500 GB OS Drive, 1 TB Internal, maybe the old 500 GB Internal, 6 TB Seagate External
  • Still need a case and a power supply
    • I will either purchase new ones for my main PC and use those for this, or I will purchase new ones for this purpose.
    • As a note, my current main PC case can fit 3 internal hard drives.

A couple of random points

  • The Pentium G4560 has a slightly lower benchmark than the i5-3470. However, it is 5 years newer. Both CPU's support Intel Quick Sync Video. Would the newer G4560 still perform better for Plex despite having slightly lower benchmarks, or would it ultimately be a wash?
  • I feel like using the 6 TB Seagate as an Internal drive would allow it access to a more reliable power supply and a faster data connection. Do any of you have experience shucking this model? Would it even be worth it, with the access to a USB 3.1 port that I would have with the planned hardware? A quick search tells me that it may be SMR, but I am already using it as my primary media drive so I am not certain if this would affect shucking any.
  • I would very much like a more automated method of backing up specific folders on the 6 TB drive to either the internal drives or my two 2 TB Seagate external drives that I use for backups. On your suggested OS, do you have a preferred software/script for this?

I'm wondering if there's a place like crackwatch for new movie/show releases, news and such? Not like direct links of course but news when things have been posted or sourced.

Obviously it wouldn't be allowed in this community, but how feasible would it be to make a community on a friendly instance and start shipping data through it somehow? If it works for NNTP it ought to work for ActivityPub, right?

Potential problems:

  1. Community full of base64'd posts immediately gets blocked by everybody's home instance.
  2. Community host immediately gets sued for handing out data it might not have a license for.
  3. Other instances that carry the community immediately get sued (see #2).
  4. Community host is in the US and follows DMCA and deletes all the posts that are complained about.

Maybe it would work as a way to distribute NZBs or other things that are useful but not themselves copyrightable? But the problem with NZBs is you have to keep them away from the people who want to send DMCAs to the Usenet providers about them, or they stop working. So shipping them around in a basically public protocol like ActivityPub would not be good for them.
