See linked posting. I've commented there with a link to a CLI tool in Python that allows downloading of IA collections. I've submitted a patch to enable specifying start and end points so that it's easier to resume downloading a huge collection, or to allow multiple people to split up the work.

https://archive.org/details/georgeblood

https://archive.org/details/78rpm_bowling_green

F*ck the RIAA and absurdly long copyright.

EDIT: There is more than one collection of 78s on IA, so I updated the title.

The issue with these collections are that they're absolutely HUGE. And yes, IA offers torrents for them, but as a separate torrent for every. single. album. And the torrents have all data in them -- FLAC, fixed-rate MP3, VBR MP3, PDF liner notes, etc. etc... there may be some extremely hardcore data-hoarders out there who want everything, but IMHO as these are scratchy old 78 records, FLAC is overkill to just save the audio in a listenable format. The George Blood collection, just the VBR MP3s, is looking to be about 6TB. With ALL data it might be over 40TB! I can't afford that many hard drives :)

So, my approach at the moment is to save just the VBR MP3s (they seem to be done at up to 320kbps VBR) and the JPEG album cover. If I have a chance and any storage left afterwards, I can make a separate pass to get the album liner PDFs...

Tool used: https://github.com/jjjake/internetarchive

Patch to allow setting start and end item indices for downloads: https://github.com/jjjake/internetarchive/pull/605

Example usage to grab just the VBR MP3 and record label JPG for each (note the --start-idx and --end-idx arguments):

#ia download --start-idx=4001 --end-idx=8000 -a -i --format="VBR MP3" --format="JPEG" --search collection:georgeblood

I'm going to concentrate on the George Blood collection for now.. I'm starting at item 1. It would be great if others started at index 50,000, 100,000, 150,000, ... and others started at the end and worked backwards in similarly-sized chunks, so that it's assured someone gets each of them.

Until a decade ago I was one of those blind Apple users that was using iTunes as the only way to organize my music.

Now I've liberated my collection using navidrome and/or direct syncing the whole library via syncthing.

Today I noticed that I have about 20 m4p files that can't be played with anything. Seems like one day I was drunk and I purchased an album on iTunes, so I guess it's DRM.

There's a way to convert those files to something with more freedom?

I don't have iTunes but in some box in my garage I have a 15 years old iMac with some ancient os version that can't be updated because Apple's marketing team said I should buy a newer one

I'm tired of spotify giving me random issues.

What's a good replacement for this?

Riseup vpn is a free, donations based VPN, that doesn't require an account and has no logs policey. They doesn't have lots of serves like Protonvpn for example but they're running for years and support P2P, so if someone is too short for paying for a VPN, I think its a pretty good for some use cases.

Hello, I just downloaded BiglyBt after seeing it on this community. I found some files that I want to download. I got a 30% through and now its completely stalled. It seems it lost connection with all peers/seeds. I've tried restarting the program and computer. Still unable to reconnect. Could I get some help on how to restart the torrent and complete it? Thanks!

Here's a screenshot of the download

I’m sorry if this isn’t the right place to ask but I don’t know where else to go. Their dedicated Reddit is on private due to the fiasco.

I’m watching “Mr.Robot” and pretty often an extra letter with the subtitles comes, shows as [P].

I added a screenshot of what, I meant.

Does anyone knows what this means?

PS: I recommend this show!

I thought about using OpenVPN for piracy, since it's open source and can be easily set up on Arch Linux. Does anyone know about the quality of it or if I should use another VPN?

Does anybody know of a way to use their IPTV service to watch together with friends besides screen sharing? I wanted to watch some sports with friends and I hate that when I use discord, there’s lots of frame drops and quality issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hlo I have a linux laptop (popos). I use lutris to launch my windows games. I have a pdp controller for xbox. It works great with steam and legit games but does not work with games i launch through lutris, no matter if pirated or legit. Lutris recognizes the controller in the wine control panel, it just does not work in games. Another controller, also pdp, but in a different color, works fine with lutris games. What is going on here? Can i fix this somehow?

There is no denying there are plenty of other methods that work better for others. However if you want:

  • Cheap
  • Quick & Easy Setup
  • Run on any device (Exception for iOS but you can get around this with Stremio Web + VLC)
  • Whole Movie + TV Shows catalog to browse. Seeing trending items is handy.

Only issue I have had is niche Movies or TV Shows just do not have a Real-Debrid entry to stream so I'll have to manually search, but this is rare.

NFL season starts in a couple weeks. How do yall stream NFL games? I've usually used buffstream in the past but I'm wondering if there's a better site/method.

I'm running my arr stack on Unraid. I set it up using a combination of Trash's guide and Ibracorp's video (linked in same article). Everything had been working well. I believe I made some changes to Qbittorrent's handling of completed torrents, but I honestly don't recall. I've learned my lesson in that regard and am carefully documenting my various self-hosting adventures now.

The issue is when either Radarr or Lidarr download something new, it creates a subfolder called Radarr or Lidarr, then has the new movie/album inside the applicable folder by itself. As a result none of the hardlinks or mover tasks work properly. Sonarr, on the other hand works fine. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could check or change to fix this? So far all my research shows complaints of either app creating its own subfolder per movie or album rather than a new folder named after the app.

Here's an example of radarr having it's own folder created after I deleted it, then queued up a new download. It makes a new 'radarr' folder and puts the finished download in it, instead of 'movies':

Normally I don't have much time to watch movies, and for the occasional one Netflix is good enough. But once a coupple of years there is a specific one I want to see which is not on Netflix.

Normally I can find it on ThePirateBay, but sometimes it's offline.

So my question is, how to get a movie like "Sing 2" in a easy way like I used on TPB now in 2023.

How to pirate ESPN+? (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

I have a full set of instruments on ps4 with at least a hundred songs of dlc. Is this something people do regularly?

I already had a cyberghost sub, but decided to try to switch to something better for seeding.

I have tested ProtonVPN and PIA, but ended up refunding PIA as the port forwarding didn't work once. ProtonVPN has worked maybe 5% of the time, and will likely be refunded as well.

Is there such a thing as a VPN that can consistently forward ports? I'm considering trying AirVPN next, but am hoping someone could confirm whether it works or not first. I'm also open to any other recommendations.

Thank you!

So I have a few 5TB external drives with all my media. I mainly just hook them up to my xbox and use kodi to play the files locally. I should probably be investing into a NAS or some sort of JBOD, but that's a whole other issue.

So no drive is backed up but they are all new (about 6 months old). Obviously, hdd drives can have mechanical failure, be a dud, or just plain suck. I do smart check and make sure the drive health is fine. I have been reading about bit rot and not sure if that is something I have to worry about and an immediate thing (or it's just some snake oil shit). I want to make sure the data stays readable and in best shape I can have it in for as long as possible. From the reading I have done surfin the web "refreshing" the data is usually done by rewriting the data. I guess what I am worried about is data corruption. With all this being on a HDD, mechanical failure is probably a bigger issue, and is something I should eventually get to with actual backups/parity. Drives are getting cheaper but I don't have the cash to drop right now on better/larger/enterprise (or NAS) drives to set all that up. I don't really want to re-download 20+ TB of stuff just to rewrite my data or shuffle data back and forth between my computer and the drive to rewrite. I could be going about this all wrong, so some pointer or input is helpful.

I use CrystalDiskInfo and HD Tune Pro to check drive health, but kinda just wanted to know if there are programs make help against data corruption, if it's even something that I should be immediately worried about, if I'm going about this in a dumb way, or if I should just start saving and work towards bulding a NAS, JBOD, ZFS or some shit. (if I'm honest all that shit seems out of my ballpark cause I like to just download and play, but it may be time to learn more about all that shit with regards to raid, parity, and having true backups)

tl;dr : I want to keep my shit for as long as possible on my HDDs. Back ups = good, but short of doing that, how to make sure data I currently have stays healthy on current drives?
