I’ve set up everything, but anime subtitles aren’t showing up when I search for them. I’ve also set up Bazarr, but it can’t find any subtitles either. Any suggestions?

So Amazon finally closed up the kindle 4 pc loophole (bah) and that means I need to learn how to find ebooks for the authors who insist on releasing exclusively on kindle.

Looks like ebook-hunter and the like are the way to go for that (and I set up a reminder to try to get an invite to myanonamouse and we'll see how that goes). But... that site uses tiny-files which is straight up cancer. Not the end of the world to click the same link and close the same blocked pop ups five times in a row for a one off but... yeah.

Back in the day we used apps like jdownloader to make this less painful but from checking out the flatpak... that might be actively malware at this point AND it wants me to install definitely malware browser plugins and the like.

So is there a better alternative? Preferably something I can run in a container on a random server.

Thanks.

Everywhere I look that says "original triliogy" it's always the second re-mastering, never the remastering that was released in the 1990s or the original un-remastered versions

Hey all, I'm looking for FL studio. My cursory search on 1337x mainly (I use the search engine in qbit) only found what I consider to be medium to high risk results. Most of the torrents I'm finding are a single .exe with maybe a readme and a site link. Some also have [haxNode] but aren't uploaded by the haxnode account. Results are few on 1337x and the qbit search engine found most of them on TPB (which I have been meaning to remove from the search list)

TL;DR any recommended place to get FL Studio?

I wanna listen to a particular song by an artist who has recently turned pretty nazi. As I generally use Spotify I now refuse to listen to his music in there, esp as it generates earnings. I kinda wanna pirate the music somehow…I’m not gonna as I’m not gonna down a song or two and then store it on my phone like it’s the year 2000. But short story is this me justifying piracy to myself.

Hello folks,

TIL that how can you bootstrap my DHT nodes before downloading a torrent.

Find a good famous software from fosstorrent and seed it for some while and then when you seed it for some time, your DHT count will be increased. now you can easily download a torrent by just providing the hash of the torrent ( assuming some DHT node knows where the file of the given hash is ).

hope you learned something new today, if you have a good idea than this feel free to add it in the comment section :)

Hey fellas,

just came across this sub to discuss my torrenting issue.

I am using linux, have a mullvad subscription and use qbittorrent. Because I read something about VPN-killswitches not being 100% reliable, I also bound the network interface from my mullvad-VPN to the qbittorrent-client.

Now something, what is kind of weird. I started a testrun over night with some legal torrents. In the morning I saw, that the downloads where finished and also seeding. The mullvad client said, that it was connected. But when I wanted to make a "torrent-IP-leak-test" online, I realized, that I couldn't open any website, because the "website couldn't be found" (firefox btw).

So I tried to ping 8.8.8.8, which worked, so I assume it must be something wrong on a DNS-level. In terminal I also checked if the Mullvad network interface was still connected, and it was. After I made a simple reconnect to the VPN-server via the MV-client, everything was normal again.

My first guess was, that this issue possibly occurs, because my ISP does an automatic reconnect in the middle of the night.

Now I'm wondering if that setup still can be considered safe. Did you experience similar problems? Is it a threat to privacy?

Using Debian if that's important.

~sp3ctre

+++EDIT 1+++

Observation 1: The source of the issue must be the automatic reconnect in my router (required from ISP) in the middle of the night. It encountered too, when I chose another reconnect-time. A manual reconnect in the router interface led to the same issue. Interestingly, pulling the plug from the router doesn't lead to it.

Observation 2: Since I wasn't able to check my external IP without being able to DNS-resolve these "ip-check-websites", I decided to go the direct way via IP of the website (found via who.is), which worked for some websites. Turns out, at least my IP-address seems not to leak (its my VPN-IP). These special torrent-IP-check-websites won't work at all, if the DNS can't be resolved at the beginning of the process (when putting the test-torrent into the list).

I will try if it makes any difference, when I turn of my alternative-DNS in the router. Will also try some other VPN-servers.

+++EDIT 2+++

The Mullvad-support solved my problem. I want to share it with you:

It is probably because the NetworkManager updates /etc/resolv.conf which the Mullvad app also updates. So it overwrites the change that the app made.

The Mullvad app does not use the NetworkManager but it will use systemd-resolved if you configure that. Disconnect Mullvad and use the following commands:

sudo systemctl enable systemd-resolved
sudo ln -sf /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf
sudo systemctl start systemd-resolved
sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager*

So I downloaded this Pre-Installed game from a respected torrent site. But whenever I run the game, the bottom 5 files get updated/changed apparently. And this torrent goes to the error section in Qbittorrent. Now I have to delete the exe and other small files from my folder and redownload them again through this torrent else this torrent wouldn't seed.

So I would not be able to seed those bottom 5 files unless I have a completely fresh install of the game ? and that means, I either have to unselect those bottom 5 files from my torrent client or create a copy of the game in another Folder so the exe and other python files don't get updated as I play the game ?

Hello !
I've been working on this thing for a year, it was intended for personal use but some friends liked it and now all our hard drives are saturated with flac files.
A self-hosted shared Qobuz / Tidal music downloader, looking for fellow sailors to test it and publish a stable release if anyone is interested :)

New to this, but just set up Stremio on my desktop with a paid Real Debris subscription, and added the Torrentio (along with some other addons).

Worked amazing this morning - watched a new episode of our kids favorite show that we didn't have access to before (~20 min long) flawlessly. BUT when we tried to load the next episode we lost our internet connection. I thought it was a fluke, but our ISP is pretty reliable and it just happened again. Tried to load a show, it was slow and laggy, then we lost our WiFi.

SO, obviously there's a problem. We aren't on a VPN yet because I read that we didn't need one when using RD, but something is clearly wrong and I don't want to piss our ISP off and lose our service.

I'm not using it of course until we figure it out. I've considered getting Proton VPN and trying with that, but I feel like after two times losing our connection I probably better not make any mistakes. 🫤

Advice please?

UPDATE: Resolved, I think. 🤞 Our WiFi came back after a while, and I made a few changes. I deleted the newer version of Stremio and replaced it with the older stable version, changed DNS to quad9, double checked my Torrentio configuration, and ran it using Proton VPN. It was slow and laggy, but I think that is more to do with WiFi speeds here than anything else. Tried without VPN and it still worked but didn't improve speed.

Technology; Piracy in Era Of Computers

Feb. 24, 1983 - The New York Times

AFTER a number of false starts against the black market in computer software and hardware, efforts are under way to protect future computer products by making each one as distinctive as the person who uses it and thus harder to copy.

As a result, there may be gradual erosion of the difference between hardware and software and a significant change in the way ordinary users purchase and operate their computers.

Over the short run, manufacturers acknowledge privately, the battle against software pirates is already lost. Most software comes packaged on floppy disks, record-like pieces of plastic that store information. And most computers include utility programs making it possible for even a novice to make an exact electronic back-up copy of almost any commercially available program.

Thus computer owners can exchange thousands of dollars worth of software as easily as children trade bubble-gum cards.

Some mail-order houses sell pirated copies of software for half the cost of the original.

Efforts by legitimate manufacturers to encode their programs to prevent copying have merely led to an expensive cat-and mouse game, in which determined hobbyists and pirates break the codes as fast as manufacturers create them.

Manufacturers hope for better luck with the next generation of computers. Seymour Rubinstein, president of the Micropro International Corporation, a leading software house, said, ''Eventually each machine and program will have a specific identity, and they will only run together.''

In the most widely suggested plan, every computer in the country would be sold with an electronic ''serial number'' in the computer's central processing unit. The machine would compare its own number with one embossed on the software sold to the machine's owner. Users could make unlimited back-up copies but could not pass them on because neither the machine nor the software could operate unless the numbers matched.

But a problem, according to Mr. Rubenstein, arises if the computer is repaired or replaced. Users would find that their old software would not operate with the new machine. ''There are ways around that, but we're still working on it,'' said Mr. Rubenstein, who is studying copy-protection methods with a committee of the Association for Data Processing Service Organizations.

In a variation of the serial-number plan, the first use of new software would prompt a message from the computer showing the identification numbers of the program and of the machine itself. The user would make a telephone call to the manufacturer, giving his credit card number and the two serial numbers, and would receive a code to make the software function on that machine.

More radical plans envision the elimination of floppy disks, which many people already regard as an inefficient way to store information.

Instead of a disk, a computer program would be stored on a ROM, meaning ''Read Only Memory.'' This is a computer chip engraved with unalterable computer instructions. When purchased, the computer would already include chips containing popular software, such as word processing programs, spreadsheets for financial planning or graphics packages. But access to the programs would be limited to users paying the price for the key to unlock the full powers of their machine.

Some people advocate building the software into the hardware. They cite home arcade games as their model. Game cartridges are essentially ROM's that are plugged into the side of the machine. While they can be copied, doing so is difficult and expensive. Kaufman Research Manufacturing Inc., a small company in Mountain View, Calif., recently received patent approval for a ROM that will execute a program but will not disclose the full structure of the program, the prerequisite to copying. ''The only way to replicate it,'' said Marc T. Kaufman, inventor of the device, ''is to put it under an electron microscope.''

But merging hardware and software has its problems. Unlike a simple Pac-Man game, a sophisticated program cannot just be plugged into the machine. And permanently installed chips limit consumers to using the programs provided by the manufacturer of the computer.

''If this industry has learned anything in the past year,'' said Rick Magnuson, director of retail marketing for Digital Research, ''it should be that consumers like to select their own software.'' Programs embedded in the machine are also impossible to update without changing chips. Mr. Rubenstein likens the problem to ''buying a video cassette recorder with all the movies already built in.''

Fighting the software pirates means headaches for ordinary users. ''Any system of locks and preventive measures makes everyone's life more difficult,'' said Edward Currie, president of Lifeboat Associates, a New York software producer. ''The last thing a manufacturer should want to do today is traumatize his customers.''

Hi ! I would like to enquire if any of you have any info on ripped DDR. I have a version from ~2020 that I continue to use. I haven't found any newer version but I'm probably not looking in the right places. The original post on emuline has info obscured and some download links are now dead. I don't know how to configure server to track score, unlock more songs, and other useful things, and I'm a bit scared to broke everything and to not be able to play anymore. Hopefully someone here can help me :)

I'm currently using the emulator Duckstation, but I'd be willing to switch to a different one if it's easier to set up online play.

Which seedbox providers would you recommend and which one do you use?

270

I never did it. How can I do it? And where I need to go for it?

271

Hey all, I know a lot of people are migrating to private torrent sites, and OK, that's a choice. However there are still a lot of people on the public torrents who are just leeching and not seeding.

I have several popular (old/classic) movies in my feed that I have uploaded (literally) 1000x the original and many more in the several hundred times. That's fine, I choose to support the community, but it's pretty depressing when I look at the seeders count and those movies have 2 or 3 other seeders.

This only works if you share. Please don't cut off as soon as you've downloaded.

And on a personal note, if anyone has audio or video files for "Machine Gun Fellatio" also listed as MGF could you please start seeding in particular

"MGF Pack 1"

"MGF+Pack+2"

"MGF+Pack+3"

If I can get the download completed I'll keep them up permanently, but unfortunately as they are obscure/rare I'm getting nowhere.

Rules don't permit me showing the torrent link of course. DM if that would help

Where do I get newest version of all 3 movies? Cant find torrents somehow.
