I'm considering using RD, but before sign-in up and paying for it, I would like to know if is there a way or a guide on how to get tools like radarr to automatically use RD for downloads instead of using VPNs and seedboxes/torrentboxes.

If you do have a similar setup, can you describe it? Thanks!

I use Hetzner as a seedbox and then have PLEX as my media server ran on the same hardware. It's worked perfectly fine for years. But recently PLEX says they will be blocking Hetzner hosting in the next few weeks. I've been considering moving to Jellyfin for a while, but I'm worried they will do the same thing in future.

Does anyone know if that's a real possibility?

Also, if I setup a VPN and just download stuff I torrent from my seedbox to a local PLEX server, would I be in any more risk of legal issues then I am now?

Am I looking at this completely wrong, and I should do something completely different?

To clarify what I am thinking of doing:

Keep my Hetzner as my seedbox and continue to download using my IPTorrents account. Setup a Local Plex or Jellyfin server and download from my seedbox to that local server that will be ran behind a VPN.

UPDATE: So this past weekend I did some testing and JellyFin is now my new Media Streaming software on my server. Going to take some time to learn how it works compared to PLEX, but so far things have been nearly 1 to 1. Thanks everyone for the help, I'm very grateful.

The aim is to have a qbittorrent setup combined with a service like plex (or jellyfin?) to easily stream music, movies and TV shows to my mobile devices.

Is there a comprehensive guide or list of good software and hardware one could use to accomplish such a thing?

What I know/have already:

  • Good, paid VPN: Mullvad
  • Mediaserver software: Jellyfin
  • Torrenting software: qbittorrent
  • ???

About

I2PSnark is an I2P-only BitTorrent client built with Java. This allows you to spin up a docker container with a I2PSnark client which can be managed through the web-ui. This specific I2PSnark application is from the I2P+ team at https://i2pplus.github.io/ and http://skank.i2p using this package http://i2pplus.github.io/installers/I2P+_2.2.0+_i2psnark-standalone.zip.

Testing

Use this .torrent file to test if your I2PSnark client is working:

Another one is close to biting the dust. Sci-Hub is out, Z-Lib got ran off like a dog and now IA is going to remove a host of books because these publishers just can't stop being money-hungry bastards.

This is why I support piracy. Knowledge should be free. To go after a nonprofit organization that just wants to make digital books and other formats accessible to everyone when majority of uploads can't be downloaded only borrowed, is just so devious and greedy.

I'm so tired of it. Laws around copyright and intellectual property need to be reformed. I feel so helpless :c

Basically I want to download a serie in a specific language and absolutely nowhere I can find it and recently I saw that the serie is available in the language I want in The Pirate's Bay but I know the bad reputation of the site and I have never used it.

I ask if it can be considered "safe" in quotes because at least in this specific case the files are not executable, they are only .mkv and in fact I don't even plan to play them on my PC, I plan to play them on a computer I use as a media center that has no internet access (and it's Linux). And although this setup should be considered "safe" enough, the question itself makes me curious.

In the torrent there is only the chapters of the serie and nothing else, or so it seems, I would analyze the files in VirusTotal before playing them but each chapter weighs more than 1GB (they are in 1080p and last more than 40 minutes) and VirusTotal does not allow to upload files of a certain weight.

I am sorry for the generic question about a site with a bad reputation, but although according to my knowledge everything should be fine, there are always things that one does not consider or go unnoticed due to ignorance or lack of knowledge.

So, I've tried to get into torrentgalaxy to get some stuff and on the top of the website there's this message:

|NEWSFLASH| Adblock is actively breaking site features again, disable when experiencing any issues.

Trying to find a torrent (Firefox, uBlock origin just updated) leads to results without names and figuring out how to get into the actual page of a given torrent leads to the page without the download torrent/get magnet link links.

I've tested with a browser without adblock and lo an behold, the issues are gone, but the site is obviously unusable.

Am I the only one experiencing this? There's no honor among pirates? Any other alternative?

i know this is extremely unlikely to happen, but imagine if both mozilla and google decides to remove adblock extensions in every way, if that happens, would you still pirate?

Some people might say about *arr aplications, but imo that wouldnt work, simply because without adblocks, the trackers would do something to stop it.

I'm on android and I'm wondering if there's any way to skip the ads without getting premium? I don't need the premium features necessarily but I hate the ads interrupting my practice. Anyone have any reliable leads? Thank you.

https://codeberg.org/Strict3443/qbittorrent-i2p-vnc

I have created a Dockerfile which will compile the latest version of qBittorrent which has experimental I2P support into a docker container with VNC support. The reason for this is my server is headless and I wanted to use the v4.6.x version of qBittorrent, but the qbittorrent-nox version of v4.6.x does not have I2P options yet. So I had to build the GUI version on top of a VNC image.

In doing so, this will build a container that has VNC capabilities where you can utilize a desktop environment to setup the GUI version of qBittorrent with your I2P settings, and then just use the web-ui from there on.

Why?

I am a qBittorrent user and wanted to start downloading and cross-seeding torrents with I2P, so I built this image as a drop in replacement of my linuxserver/qbittorrent docker container and it just works.

Why don't you post the docker image?

I am not sure how yet, and I also left it as a Dockerfile so that you can build this on ARM or x86-64 depending on your needs

Note

This image can be quite heavy and take a long time to build, but until v4.6.x is out of beta, this will do.

Just to clarify, I'm talking about thousands of torrents across hundreds of different directories.

Looking for a service for live sports, but payment methods are always limited.

I'm feeling pretty down and pretty injured, I almost lost an eye the other day, so what torrents can I seed to make yarrr happy?

I'm trying to finish grabbing a show, but Sonarr says the final season is #3, while the rest of the internet (i.e. torrent sites) says that season is #5. It looks like the first 2 seasons were split up into 1/2 seasons when originally shown. So while Sonarr is looking for Season 3, it's finding the first half of what it thinks is Season 2.

This is something I'm noticing in the ROM space, especially for non-retro titles like WiiU titles. The file sizes are often very massive, between 5 and 20 GB. Downloading from these places, especially the internet archive has a download speed of maybe 500 megabytes per hour. It's quite slow compared to torrents, but when it comes to the roms subreddit and megathread, it's pretty much all direct download.

How are you supposed to get some of these games with 4 day downloads when the downloads bug out after just 40 minutes or so?

So today Unity announced changes in how they are going to monetize their game engine, and it is, rightfully might I add, poorly recieved Here is how much youtuber Dani would have to pay unity if they consider his games to gain over $200k in revenue Dani's hypothetical unity payments

Now I don't know how much tracking crackers and re-packers remove from the games getting cracked, but if unity were to count cracked games as a valid install (and they will count every install of a game they are aware of), thn piracy could seriously bankrupt indie devs. Like, not just losing them revenue, but actively losing them money. While piracy is already in an ethical grey area, I think that is just a bit too much. So, I want to raise awareness of this, and with it I have 2 questions to ask:

  • Do the people that crack games make sure to remove the ability of unity tracking cracked installs?
  • If the answer to the previous question is "no", how do we make them aware of the fact that it is probably for the better if they do this?

I am interested in how pirates on the internet (which i am not) would get there hands on the files to a game, just, for example, Baldur's Gate 3, without torrenting? Now, I have heard tell of a place where these nefarious no-gooders would do this, for example gog-games.to. But, once they have acquired the file, what steps to these pirates take next? I have heard that .bin files come with these illegal files? How would one approach using those bin files? All out of curiosity of course. Thank you!

I'm looking for a YR-DLP GUI for just music, or a good way to access music in general. I had a lidarr-on-steroids instance running but it kept disconnecting from deezer and i'd love to get that back up and running but it looks like it's not supported any more. Yt-dlp looks like a decent enough plan B, but i'm open to other discussion

The ongoing and often extreme and overreaching battle against piracy within the audiovisual industry continues to escalate, with recent discussions focusing on devices capable of infringing intellectual property (IP) rights. As stated by Sheila Cassells, Executive VP at the Audiovisual Anti-Piracy Alliance (AAPA), companies in the entertainment sector should be wary of “any technological development” that could potentially grant access to pirated content.

From historical technology like the VCR to modern advances like AI, all technology holds inherent potentials for piracy.

At the center of these discussions are specific devices including set-top boxes, Firesticks, and Android apps, often condemned for enabling piracy. The AAPA’s somewhat radical standpoint is a call to outlaw the production, marketing, and distribution of any such device.

A reported Free Download Manager supply chain attack redirected Linux users to a malicious Debian package repository that installed information-stealing malware.

The malware used in this campaign establishes a reverse shell to a C2 server and installs a Bash stealer that collects user data and account credentials.

Kaspersky discovered the potential supply chain compromise case while investigating suspicious domains, finding that the campaign has been underway for over three years.
