Recently discovered the wonders of the stremio + real debrid + torrentio, works wonders on the newly bought Nvidia Shield Pro. However, I would like for the rest of the family to experinece the same, and completely get rid of all other streaming services. But... as the pirate I am, I started thinking about workarounds for only having to pay for 1 real debrid account. As my family is scattered across multiple different locations, we cannot due to RDs rules, share account, as far as I've understood. So my question to my fellow pirates are as follows:

  • Is there a way for me to ONLY pay for 1 RD account, yet give access to other family members?
  • What happens if I were to run all TV's and devices behind the same VPN(tailscale exitnode), would that be enough to to let Real Debrid think we're all on the same network?

I have the full *arr stack set up on the side, (but much prefer to be streaming most of what I watch). I will however download older series and shows that have multiple seasons.

Or is the answer to this to turn to Usenet instead?

Let me know ur thoughts and experiences.

tldr;

Piracy in Finland on a sharp rise, still the lowest of the Nordics even though 40% of shows pirated are Finnish. Sweden has double the amount of pirates compared to others.

Hello scurvy dogs

Im looking for some advice on how I should go about continuing to watch youtube while blocking / bypassing ads on my LG TV.

I recently ended my premium subscription because of price hikes and such but webOS on LG TVs is very restrictive with its apps.

Ive started to use LibreTube on my devices which is awsome but ive only got a couple of options that might work on the telly:

1- I host a local Jellyfin server for all our other content needs so maybe i can integrate youtube into this somehow.

2- Ive got a spare Pi 3b laying around that I could use as something and just HDMI to the TV which im fine with.

Currently I think that maybe running android on the Pi and then using LibreTube on that is my best option.

So my question is, what do you guys use / what are your setups to watch youtube ad free on ya TV?

As I get more and more invites to private trackers, I'm finding that I find myself spending more and more time on public tracker websites.

I'll only use private trackers if I can't find what I'm looking for on a public tracker. Private tracker rules can get pretty onerous and I prefer to just avoid the whole scene if possible.

If I'm honest, this opinion surprises me. I didn't expect to prefer public trackers. I always thought that private trackers were so cool and exclusive. I don't think that way anymore.

When I wanted to set this up, the process was confusing I found a post on Reddit that provided more clear instructions for me to use. I've copied it here (and fixed some of the spelling mistakes) so that it's on Lemmy too.

Hi!! Since i used to struggle a lot with the guides available (partially bc of attention span issues) and i had to figure out lots of things myself when i first got into ReVanced, here's a step by step guide for downloading it on non-root devices! :>

Be nice please and excuse any grammar errors since English isn't my first language, if there's anything i missed, let me know!

DISCLAIMER: Never download from (or use) sites that arent apkmirror and/or GitHub. These are the only ones necessary anyway and the other ones are not trustworthy. Also, ReVanced doesn't work for iPhone devices as far as I'm aware (sorry lol). THE STEPS IN THIS GUIDE MIGHT NOT BE NECESSARY FOR EVERYONE BUT THEY WERE FOR ME its okay if you find it a little overboard but i struggle with following tutorials and i struggled with errors that most ppl didn't mention anywhere so i included the fixes that helped me!

Links for the necessary downloads are at the end

Preparations:

Turn off Google Play Protect

Allow unknown downloads for your browser in settings

Disable/uninstall YouTube app

Steps:

Download Vanced microg

Download Revanced Manager

Open your files app and install both

Open ReVanced Manager. Check for the suggested version of YouTube (patcher -> select application, then find YouTube and check for the currently suggested version)

Look up "YouTube apk [suggested version]", find & open apkmirror.com, download the correct one that is NOT a bundle (and pick nodpi) and install it as well

Go back to ReVanced Manager. patcher>select application>YouTube.

Click on selected patches. either use the default ones or you can do some cherry picking on your own. (some patches that i find worth including are at the very end, dont entirely depend on them alone tho)

Once done with patches, ensure that you included "vanced microg support". That one is necessary.

Press done and patch. Once its finished, just install it.

there you go :> ReVanced is ready to be used and you can sign in to your account

Shorter Version:

Download and install Vanced microg, ReVanced Manager and the currently suggested YouTube APK

Open Revanced Manager, select YouTube to patch it

Select the patches you want (must include Vanced microg support)

Let it apply the patches and install once its ready

Repatching ReVanced after an Update

Open and update ReVanced Manager if needed

Check the currently suggested Youtube version and download it, if necessary, from apkmirror.

Delete the old Youtube APK since you wont be using it anymore

Repatch and install

NOTES:

-I don't recommend just applying all patches, especially since you may not want everything they have to offer or they sometimes cause problems for some people. its best to go with default and then check if there's anything you want to change (including or excluding some patches)

-if, for whatever reason, you still encounter errors such as the patching process aborting, the app not opening or something else going wrong,, please make sure you have followed every step correctly and if necessary, go over your patches again. Try starting from the beginning if you cant find other solutions.

-after you have successfully finished everything, feel free to turn Google Play Protect back on or disable downloading from unknown sources for your browser, if you'd like.

the most important patches (imo) to be included:

-vanced microg support (obviously)

-client spoof

-hide ads

-hide watermark

-sponsorblock

-video ads

plus: exclude enable debugging to make ReVanced work more smoothly!

And like i said, don't just rely on them entirely otherwise your YouTube app will probably suck really bad ngl but these are the ones i feel like should be included for sure.

Links:

Vanced microg

ReVanced manager

As for the YouTube APK, you can look up the suggested version and find it on apkmirror (Note:I didn't put the link here because I think it may count as a link to a pirated title, not sure though)

Good Luck!!

Hello fellow pirates!

I have a question that many pirate siteops might already encountered - how do you monitor availability your website in uncommon locations?

There's ton of services to monitor if site is blocked in US/China/EU/Russia et c., but none of them could say if your site is blocked by Kenian or Bangladeshi authorities.

So if you know such service, please share it's name or URL.

Many thanks!

Title. Just curious, before I buy a book, as certain books available only internationally on Amazon are apparently purchasable without needing to change location, so curious if I can DeDRM later.

As the title says. I am using the ByPass Paywall add-on and it used to work, but since some time it just doesn't. I've made sure the site I am trying to visit is listed in the list of sites, and I've also manually added it, but to no avail. Does anyone know any good alternatives to bypass paywalls, or some way of troubleshooting the add-on?

Anyone know a good place to find them? :)

Supporting small creators that contribute to the creative commons, or free software developers using the money saved! This is like, protesting proprietary stuff, while using the saved resources to support creators that respect our right to reuse/remix instead. I hope that makes sense lol

In North America, using Xfinity for reference. I want to create both a home NAS and offline Wiki/media backup. Problem is to get the amount of data I need would blow through my plan and throttle my speed. I guess I could try and do it over a longer period or download just before the billing cycle renews so even if I go over it will reset. I would rather avoid these scenarios, the only other thing I can think of is using a cafe or library connection, that might be what I have to do. Any ideas on places to download massive amounts of data or ways to get around throttling? Thanks in advance.

Summary: A recent UK government inquiry into the challenges faced by the film and high-end television industry has recently received submissions from major Hollywood studios advocating for KYC (know your customer) rules for hosting providers, similar to banking regulations to identify money laundering. If adopted, this would help them to identify people hosting pirated content.

The submissions are united in identifying the same solution to this problem: the UK must implement a ‘Know Your Business Customer’ regime to compel commercial entities (including online intermediaries) to establish the true identity of their business customers as a precondition for selling, and receiving payment for, digital services.

I've been seeding the torrents that I download since the old days of Limewire, but I've always download and re-shared by seeding.
But a few months ago I couldn't find a set of audiobooks I'd been looking for with the original narrators from the 90s.
I finally found a set on CD on eBay and coverted those to mp3 and loaded them on my phone, but it occurred to me that others might also be looking for a complete version of the series too and wanted to share that media.
Apologies if it's an obvious answer that I somehow missed.

I'm looking for recently published research papers. I'm wondering what are the methods of obtaining recently published research papers apart from methods described in the megathread ?

I want to run only qBittorrent through my VPN but with my current setup, I have a namespace for OpenVPN and qBittorrent runs entirely through it. The issue with that is that Sonarr and Radarr can't access it. Because of that, I would like to switch my setup to use a network interface instead. What would be the best way to do that?

Edit: I used this guide, with some changes to make it work on my setup, to set it up. I can also post my docker-compose file here if anyone's interested.
