My options for internet connectivity are very limited. I was wondering if I could go to a library or coffee shop or wherever has a good connection and do all my downloading remotely, or if I will run into problems/restrictions.

I'm thinking they may not allow VPN's or something like that?

I'd really like to get started with this stuff but finding the technical requirement exhausting.

Trying to install privoxyvpn- "simply add the proxy to your browser and ensure the configuration is correct" (no help as to what this means, or how to do it and following the basic instructions just renders my browser unable to connect - googling the error message gives me replies like "simply make sure you read the logs" (no description of how to get to the logs or how to read them)

hearing I need a proxy and a reverse proxy, install SWAG — "first, point the A name at your server and the CNAME at the A and then install the SSL certificate - but be sure to pick between directories and subdomains if you have fewer than 20 domains in your account."

Like what the fuck does any of this mean?

Then I hear if I have a proxy it might interfere with the reverse proxy and both might interfere with the VPN and vice versa.

How does one even get started?

Hello! I recently set up my first home server, and would like to set up qbittorrent on it. I tried using protonVPN, which is what I use on desktop, but got rate limited because torrenting on the free plan is not allowed. What do you think of hide.me vpn? it has a CLI linux version, I think I can install it inside the docker container and set up a killswitch (that should be built in? at least that's what they say) to torrent safely.

I know paid VPNs are better and also pretty cheap, but I cannot afford one right now. Any tips?

I've heard great things about them but I'm not too willing to part with 50 euros over them. Are lessons ever put on PDFs or videos, or is there a way to keep them fully interactive? Any resource would greatly help. Thank you all!

Anyone have resources for finding book summary pdfs? I have Blinkist already.

I am interested in Shortform but they never run any discounts. Their summaries are fantastic.

You all remember just a few weeks ago when Sony ripped away a bunch of movies and TV shows people “owned”? This ad is on Amazon. You can’t “own” it on Prime. You can just access it until they lose the license. How can they get away with lying like this?

GitHub has removed the popular pirate streaming app VancedFlix from its servers in response to a takedown notice sent by Sky Italia. The request targets a similarly named repository on the developer platform, as well as the app's APK file that's linked under the download button on the official site VancedFlix.

If someone had the Rune version of the game, what do they need to run the updates to get to at least have fsr2 in the game?

not being able to ctrl-F a textbook or have click-to-chapter links sure makes studying harder these days... and any scanning software worth it's salt will at least do the bare minimum OCR automatically...

I really like this podcast, which is usually aboutother things, but because I love the bay and Peter Sunde and everything they (at least used to) stand for.

When I saw it I had to listen to it and it was really nice listening to Peter Sunde for an hour.

Under Settings > Import List > Advanced List, there's an option to provide a List URL for a Custom List. What format would that need to be in?

Right now, dozens of domains linked to live football piracy sites are redirecting to the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment. Domains began displaying the ACE seizure banner on Saturday and the list has been growing ever since.

I look for this article:

https://www.heise.de/ratgeber/Anleitung-fuer-einen-Eigenbau-Waermetauscher-fuer-das-Taupunkt-Lueftungssystem-7183776.html

, and it seems to be on archive.is, but not really. The zip file can't be downloaded, and the article frame never comes alive.

Is this content available? If so, where?

If the content WAS on archive.is, why is it gone?

So I’m pretty new to Yuzu and Emulating the games.

I managed to get FitGirl repacks games of emulation and they work without Prod-keys and Firmware.

Now, I managed to get Prod-key and Firmware 17.0.0 but no idea what, I do with it and what I do after to get games.

I tried googling here and there but couldn’t get an actual answer or landed on unknown sites which, I find hard to trust.

Could someone explain, get me into the right direction or anything like that?

EDIT: SOLVED. Apparently the only thing I just needed was the NSP-Games files and then load them into Yuzu.

I recently stumbled upon this announcement of the long awaited Copilot Pro. I need to prepare a PowerPoint presentation this week so any capacity to use this for free would be tremendous. Thanks y'all!

The image, which has since been removed, doesn’t give away too much. However. Warner Bros. is clearly alarmed by the leak. The movie studio has a history of cracking down on the unauthorized distribution of leaked material and this is no exception.

Lots of podcasts anymore have subscriber-only exclusive episodes. Is there any reliable place to find those? I'm interested in locating the episodes for podcasts like Savage Lovecast, Swindled, Dr. Death, and Sex and Politics.

Hello! I'd like to write a script to download videos from streamingcommunity.estate from a given video URL, and to do this I need the m3u8 file url. Currently I manually go to the network tab to search for it, but I'd like the script to do this automatically. Do you know of a way to achieve this? Bash or Python if possible, otherwise any other method will do fine. Thanks in advance!

Looking for any recommendations for an IPTV provider that does Sky Sports (UK) in UHD/4k. Feel free to dm me directly, thank you!

Does someone have a script that converts all videos files from 264 to 265 and changes the name?

Even an attempt at it would be appreciated

looks like I will not convert anything at all.

It is definitely not worth converting x264, even less x265, to av1, if you are the only consumer. Just think about it. To get any "significant" space gains, while keeping a close to original quality (you will inevitably lose some detail), you need to spend maybe at least 3-4x more time encoding than the actual total video length, probably more, maybe 5x. Taking an average of 3GB/hour, 2TB is about 650 hours. x5 that's like 3250 hours. An 8 core ryzen will have like 150W total system load encoding av1. 3250h * 0.15 kWh =~ 500 kWh. 500 kWh * 0.15$/kWh (I took an optimistic electricity cost for these days, might be a lot more depending where you live) = $75 in electricity costs. Setting encodes, moving files around, will also take up some significant amount of time. You will gain maybe 1TB, if compressing audio to opus as well, less than that you will have significant video quality losses. 1TB of hdd space is worth $15 these days. And you don't waste time/electricity+money/video quality.

So it's only worth to get existing published encodes of the material you own, of if you are planning on publishing yourself. Or just for fun, if you want to experiment and encode one movie to see what's the best you can get out of av1.

In the end, the KIA car company made its cars into subscription models, I really hate this because in the end the car we buy with our own money doesn't feel like it belongs to us. Should we finally buy an old school car ? so as not to be affected by this subscription models or is there a way to crack the software installed in it ?
