In unrelated news, music piracy is on the rise.

PS. I am sorry that my wording of this rubbed so many people the wrong way. This is a truly a nasty update of terms and agreements, and it's going to hurt a lot of people financially.

If it's all fine with you stay in. But if it's not you have a little over 30 days to get out.

I'm looking for World of Darkness books, the backup of the trove on reddit is missing a lot of the books so I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can find something more complete?

I’m looking to setup a media server with Jellyfin+*arr for my home. My LG tv has Jellyfin app already. Is there a tutorial, or script to install all the necessary tools on my SBC?

Hello! I know this is probably not piracy, but I think that this community is the best one to ask this. I'd like to stream live TV on my jellyfin server, and in the future perhaps try to implement a way to silence the audio during ads, but I want to start a step at a time: Before going in jellyfin, let's try with VLC that is easier. The live stream I'm trying to stream is taken from raiplay, the official website of RAI, the main italian tv station. I ignorantly just downloaded all the 4 .m3u8 files with this extension and, one at a time, I tried to open them with VLC, but all I obtained was VLC loading forever. What's going on? did I missed something important?

[if you know of better ways to do this, any recommendation is welcome!]

thanks in advance!

Visits to music piracy websites went up more than 13 percent last year, a new report says. The majority of those visits were to sites that allow users to download the audio from YouTube URLs.

ACCUMULATED RELEASE SIZE FOR JANUARY 2024

From the 54.960 scene releases, only 9.420 of them had file + size information.

They total to: 16.61 TB (16.619.701 MB) in 115 thousand files (115.373).

No idea about the size of the missing information, so the real value should be much higher.

this contradiction always confused me. either way the official company is "losing a sale" and not getting the money, right?

I currently have a very comfortable lil home server with the arrs and plex (would like jellyfin but it's not there yet for me, currently fielding emby given how Plex is going), basically all sources are usenet.

I'm nearing a point where I either have to delete some stuff or expand space, which is not cheap, and some of my older drives are likely due for some failures too. So after seeing the popularity of debrid I've been wondering if it'd be worth to instead spend the money on it, but would like to ask some questions. I spend maybe around $70/year on the various bits for Usenet and I expect I'd have to spend around an average of $80/year on drives for just expanding storage (obviously assuming I don't just delete stuff). And that's with avoiding 4k just for storage reasons (my internet could take the streaming tho)

Even just the price of Usenet seems to be more than the price of a debrid subscription though and from what I understand I'd not need new disks with it either.

From what I understand debrid is a shared download space for Torrents/direct downloads where if someone adds something it's available for everyone (presumably it gets deleted if noone accessed it for some time and would have to be re-downloaded?). It's possible to mount the content via WebDAV to make it accessible to clients/media servers to stream directly from debrid.

My questions are..

  1. Is there still a point to sonarr/radarr with debrid?
  2. How is the quality? (both in terms of media quality and in terms of file organisation so things are discoverable and accurate, e.g. chances of things explicitly named wrong so you think you're about to watch Brooklyn 99 and instead get porn)
  3. I would likely go the path of using zurg and keeping with Plex/emby - any experience with how well does this work (any recommendations for or against)? What's the mechanism for picking what is available in the mounts to the media server.. or is it just.. everything on debrid?
  4. I don't really use any torrents at the moment, from what I understand that's primarily how you get things on debrid. Would I have to start looking for good trackers to get content or is there no need because chances are someone will have downloaded/shared most things?
  5. I guess, am I assuming this works very differently to how it actually does? Any experience from people who did the swap from Usenet/arrs to some debrid + media server?

Many questions in a wall of text, I'd be grateful for any answers to any of them! Thanks!

I guess most people know about the movie web app site, which pulls videos from various sources.

Recently they added a request to download an extension to your browser, for optimal perfomance and better quality.

It is featured on the firefox android extensions site from Mozilla, it has a github page. What I read online is that it seems the extension wants access to everything you do in your browser, which seems kind of sketchy.

What do people here think about it? Anyone installed it and can say more?

Edit: thanks for all the comments, looks like less people knew about this than I thought.

Had a free sub, running out though. On a tight budget currently so trying to find a way to play offline or any good sources for these types of stories?

Ideally, to be played on a phone at night.

To whom it may yoho:

So I’ve got a linux server with Docker installed a a container with Deluge in it. I have 98 torrents currently in Active or Seeding status. My download and upload speeds are set according to my calculated rates for my speed test. Ports are set for incoming connections, that port is included in the Docker container config, allowed through the firewall on the server itself and forwarding set up on my router. I have 3 private trackers I’m testing with those 98 torrents and the torrents are a mix of high seeding demand torrents and just whatever I had sitting around. The only torrent out of 98 that are uploading anything is the Ubuntu torrent I’ve been using to see if it could be the private trackers.

Speed test:

Download speed is 347Mbps Upload speed is 23Mbps

DNS settings are set to use 75.75.75.75 and 76.76.76.76 and 8.8.8.8 on my router. My server is set to use the router as the DNS.

The 63430 port I’m using has been confirmed as open from external port checkers.

I have tried using qbitorrent on a separate machine and have been running into the same problems so it sounds like it’s a network-wide issue.

I am not behind a VPN (yet… though it sounds like it could be a requirement)

This is my home network and I own the Gateway so any ISP shenanigans would be from outside the home.

Does anyone have any suggestions? And is this the right place to ask?

Thank you in advance! I’m running out of hair to tear out!

Way late edit: In case anyone finds this in the future, my permissions were set incorrectly. The user that was running the torrent app didn’t have folder access…

First off, I'd normally ask this question on a datahoarding forum, but this one is way more active than those and I'm sure there's considerable overlap.

So I have a Synology DS218+ that I got in 2020. So it's a 6 year old model by now but only 4 into its service. There's absolutely no reason to believe it'll start failing anytime soon, and it's completely reliable. I'm just succession planning.

I'm looking forward to my next NAS, wondering if I should get the new version of the same model again (whenever that is) or expand to a 4 bay.

The drives are 14 TB shucked easy stores, for what it's worth, and not even half full.

What are your thoughts?

I might be asking a rhetorical question here but I was curious as to the overall consensus on physical media. Do support it because, unlike streaming, media can't take away what you've payed for? or are you against because it's a waste of money when you can "acquire" it through "alternative means?" I'm also thinking about getting a 4K Blu Ray player for when my wife and I get a new place; preferably one that can also play self hosted media. What do you guys think?

finally got access to CGPeers and snatched a copy of NukeX, I'm still worried that Foundry will still somehow snatch my hardware ID and send me a threatening email. I've already wiped Nuke and all related files from my hardware and nuked my foundry account, anything else I could do in order to shield myself a bit more before I install the crack?
