As an 80s kid, I remember saying this word... a lot.

While other colloquialisms seem to have hung around this one seems to have vanished from common vernacular.

I have some questions ...

Did everyone say this, or only my siblings and I? Is it Western Australian? Australian? or Global?

Where did it come from? Does it mean or refer to anything or is it just random syllables?

Where did it go? Why did this word fall out of favor while others are still in popular use?

For now, researchers are urging the public who see a sick magpie to follow this checklist:

Avoid contact with the bird. Record what you see, including the location of the animal and take photos or video if safe to do so. For more information, see the WHA guidance document for sick and injured wildlife. Contact a wildlife rehabilitation group or your local veterinarian.
If you see any other unusual signs of disease or deaths in wildlife anywhere in Australia, you can report it to:

o your local State/Territory WHA Coordinator

o the 24-hour Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on free call 1800 675 888

o your local veterinarian

o the Department of Primary Industries or Agriculture in the State/Territory in which the event is occurring/occurred.

Queenslanders might have Gout Gout, but we have O'brien... "Oo...Ooo... Ooo.. O'brien!"

But in all seriousness is Aussie athletics having a moment?

Desflurane is a commonly used inhalational general anaesthetic agent, and it is also a potent greenhouse gas, with a global warming potential 2540 times that of carbon dioxide (CO2).

Following support from WATAG and the Western Australian Drug Evaluation Panel (WADEP), desflurane was delisted from the WA SMF in August 2023

In short:

The largest recorded fatberg in WA, weighing 30,000 kg, was found in Perth's sewer system during routine maintenance.

Fatbergs are entirely preventable and form due to non-flushable items like wipes and fats being disposed of incorrectly.

What's next?

Workers spent two days earlier this week using an excavator to break up and remove the fatberg, which has been taken to the tip.

A big thank you to the lovely lady who turned around and walked me home as she had an umbrella and noticed I didn't. Love you Perth.

I haven't seen much reporting on this.

No one is surprised Labor have the Assembly, but that's all the media seem to be reporting on.
