I worked at a vape shop for like 2 years, and got laid off when it closed about a year ago. It was a pretty low traffic place (hence the closure), so most of my time was spent on the couch watching reality TV and crocheting.

On occasion, the lights would flicker, the door bell would ring, or the TV would glitch. I assumed it was faulty electronics and shrugged it off. Over time, however, I would get the feeling that someone was sitting next to me or just generally "hanging out." I grew to enjoy the company despite acknowledging that it could have been my subconscious breaking up the solitude.

When the shop closed, my boss sent me home with the lounge couches. I didn't think much of it, and I also didn't say goodbye to my "friend." I got laid off a month before my wedding, so it honestly didn't cross my mind due to the stress. Since then, I've been seeing shadows and figures in my peripheral. I'm no stranger to mild hallucinations, but these would bring feelings of nostalgia and melancholy with them.

Earlier today, I was crocheting and watching reality TV again. I felt like I was being watched, even though my husband and cat, my only roommates, were next to me. Every minute or two, I would see what appeared to be a head and the tip of a shoe poking around my door frame. When I hallucinate, it's usually a one time thing, and not usually visual. On top of that, my cat seemed to notice it as well. I suddenly remembered my "buddy" from the shop, and how long it had been since we last "hung out."

I spoke to it just in case it was more than psychological. I said, "Hey. If you're not the shop ghost, get out of my house. If you are the shop ghost, you can stay, but stop being a fucking creep and join me." I felt silly doing it, but that familiar sense of someone sitting next to me came back, and the visuals stopped.

I'm not sure if I got my friend back, or if I had one in the first place. I don't mind a chill ghosty roommate, but I do mind delusions and psychosis. I'm 50/50 on what I believe, so I go to therapy and do weekly cleanses to cover all bases lol.

My aunt tends to have some supernatural vision, she tends to see something her other family members can’t see. One night, me and her son were having a sleepover at her house and we decided to stay awake as long as we can. It was about 1AM, and when we were watching a movie when suddenly all the lights went out. The power box which was in the basement was very far and needed atleast 2 rooms to power it back on. So, as we were heading in, we paused. My aunt was there, standing faced back looking at something in the dark when she said, “Get back to the living room”. We were obviously scared and terrified, when suddenly we got a call… from my aunt. She was not home at all.

My girlfriend recently moved into her own house with a friend of hers, one morning when they were at work me and my friend were talking about how creepy the basement is, which contains things left behind by the previous tenants, and her parents as they lived there right before her. There is a weird feeling of being watched and we decided as a joke to put our ear up to the basement door to see if we could hear anything, and what we heard were footsteps sounding like they were at the bottom of the stairs. Because it’s not the best area we opened the door to make sure there wasnt an unwelcomed guest living in the basement as the house sat empty for a week or two other than what’s in the basement, and no one was there

Fast forward about an hour and we were talking about it in the living room (basement is directly below the living room, and bottom of the stairs just about line up with where we were sitting) and I stand up to go grab my phone charger, I immediately sit back down because I felt something smack the floor under me from down in the basement, followed by a knock on the basement door. We decide to give it about 20 minutes before we searched the basement, with no sign of anyone being down there uninvited, windows covered in cobwebs so we knew no one had gone through them. There was however a cup that wasn’t there before, which had something molded in the bottom quarter inch of it. He went to the corner where some of said left over items from previous tenants were and found a black hat with a hand painted pentagram on it. We decided we were going to leave it be and investigate some other time.

Her friend ended up moving out about 4 days ago the light switch at the top of the stairs to the basement has started turning itself on in the middle of the night.

The other morning I heard my dad’s voice call for me from the kitchen, he has never been to that house and the kitchen connects directly to where the basement door is.

The latest update I’ve gotten was from last night where my girlfriend was getting ready for bed and tried to turn off the hallway light with the light switch by her bedroom, it wouldn’t shut the light off so she went to the other end of the hallway to turn it off, when she got to the other switch her cat hissed at the switch by her room and took off running away from it, and the light switch flipped on its own.

If anyone knows any ways to repel something like this, please let me know because I would rather not have a ghost in her house

Hi, First of all, I have to clarify that English is not my native language, and I had to translate this with ChatGPT. If something is not understood, it may be because of that.

When I was a kid, I lived with my parents in our first house. One night, we were watching The Passion of the Christ together. At some point, I got bored of the movie and decided to go to the bathroom.

To get there, I had to pass by my parents' bedroom. As I walked by, I saw something that still haunts me to this day: a huge, tall, grayish figure with an extremely skeletal body was coming out of their room.

I froze. I didn’t know what to do, so I ran back to the living room where my parents were. I started shouting, trying to tell them there was a man in their room—but it was like they couldn’t hear me. When I looked back the figure was even closer. I panicked and closed my eyes. But even with my eyes closed, I could still see it—clear as day. I put my hands over my face, trying to block the image but it was still there.

Then, suddenly, I felt like I had been snapped back into place. I was sitting on the couch again, exactly where I had been before I “got up” to go to the bathroom.

I told my parents everything I had just experienced. They looked at me strangely and told me that I never moved from the couch. According to them, I hadn’t said or done anything.

Hi everyone. Few months ago I went on a 7 day mountain trip with my family (Dad, mom, 12yo sister, 18yo me). on the 6th day, we went to a little hike, and we found a small but old antique shop. They had lots of old antiques but a doll caught my eye And we bought it.

Now skipping few months (probably 2). We started experiencing something abnormal. Mind that I have a corner for all my figures and collectibles and no one moves them. So, It started with the doll getting tumbled in the middle of the night. Then, we started experiencing shift of the doll's position. From the collectible corner to tv cabinet To infront of the mirror. Only I noticed it and I did not mind it. But few days ago I saw her sitting in a completely different room. I asked my family and they all said no one moved her.

Now, the day before yesterday, when my mom woke up in the morning around 7am (mind that everyone was fast asleep) she found the doll laying beside her... And she freaked out. She asked everyone later in the morning about the doll. But we all said that "no, we did not move her". Now, at this point my little sister is freaked out, she is a kid and is absolutely scared of the scary stuff. So, she placed the doll infront of the picture of God. She thought this would restrict the doll from moving on its own. But on the very next day, she was sitting on my desk (which is right infront of my bed) and was literally staring me down (This was today).

And sometimes i also get this weird primal feeling that something is watching me... And when I look at the doll, her eyes almost feels "real" somewhat moving and watching every thing I do.

Now, I'm completely freaked out and I don't know what to do. Mind that we're a religious family and we all swore on God that we did not move her. So, y'all have to take my word on that. Can someone explain what is happening to me.

I worked late Friday and it was about 1am when I decided to take an uber, coz subways are very weird at this hour, though it's NYC. The city was safer before Covid, but lately it's been filled with awful late night events as there is so much lawlessness in late night New York.

I'm on floor 51 and the elevator stops at 31 and noone enters and I am hitting close and then I hear footsteps and I wait with my hand on the elevator door to keep it open, thinking it might be building security looking to go down, and here comes a firefighter who is in full gear and is filled head to toe with ash like debris but I look at his feet and no debris is falling off him and there is no debris or dust on the floor considering how dusty he is and i look into his face, it's a white guy and he has blue eyes and I nod and he nods. I said Hi and he doesn't speak back. And we get to the ground floor and he walks in front of me and he exits the building. And I find it very odd and then I head out and wait for my uber.

Then I go back in and there are three security guys at the lobby and I ask them if there is any fire in the building and long story short, I tell them, listen there was this firefighter in gear and filled with dirt walking right in front of me and we both walked out together.

All three of them swear they saw nothing, they just saw me coming out of the elevator and head out. I haven't slept properly since Friday. I already spoke to my priest Sunday and he asked me to keep praying the rosary or have a prayer to archangel Michael handy.

I won't tell you which building coz I don't wanna give out my place of work - but it was one of the buildings which went down during 9/11

I changed the floor numbers to further obfuscate my place of work.

I have heard of others run into paranormal events at ground zero. I personally witnessed people in suits sitting by one of the pools circa 2016 and then they vanished, but this one was 1:1 and it's giving me nightmares.

Just throwing this out into the cyber ether. This message will self destruct in a few hours, I felt like I had to share, but might delete later.

Ok so, I had this unexplained experience as a kid, around 10 years ago, and wanted to share now that i found this community. Being honesty, I'm a very skeptical person, more than I should be considering this experience and others I've had, but I'm fascinated by supernatural stuff, and would love to see the opinionsa and explanations, supernatural or not, of people eho are more knowledgeable on the subject.

Basically, i used to have an imaginary friend when i was a kid (around 5 to 7 y.o). One day, on a holiday, some relatives at my house. It was night, my cousins and sister where swinging on a hammock, and my aunts and uncle where sitting around it, talking. I wanted to get on the hammock, but my sister and cousins where teasing me by not letting me, so i said " I'm gonna call Teteco (Imaginary friend's name) and he's gonna blow you off the hammock". Now, I don't remember if there was wind, and almost no one else seems to remember either, but my sister said there wasn't. The important thing is, as soon as I said that, the hammock suddently started violently swinging in an unnatural way, almost throwing them out the hammock. It swung so much it could probably hit the ceiling of the veranda. I don't remember if i was scared at the time, but everyone ran into the house, my cousin (who was around 18) even cried, and my grandma wrote J.M.J (Jesus, Mary and Joseph) on every door and window. Even after that, the hammock kept swinging for some time. Even now, my sister and my grandma don't like me to say his name or even talk about it. Personally, I'm not really scared when i think or talk about it, since I was a kid, but it does still creep me out a bit.

I’ve been sitting on this for a while. I haven't told anyone about this, because it sounds fucking crazy, but it’s stuck with me for months and I need to get it out. If anyone else has experienced something like this in Texas (especially Central TX), I’d really like to hear about it.

Way back in September, I was going through severe depression, and was very suicidal. I came up with a plan to kill myself, which was to jump off of a water tower. When the time came, I snuck out of the house, around 1 am, and began my 25-30 minute walk to the tower. Now, my original plan was to climb the water tower, but when I got there, I noticed a radio tower pretty close by, and thought, "Yeah this will kill me for sure".

To get to the tower, I would have had to cross this field with an abandoned building off to the side—it looked like it was made out of shipping containers. I wasn’t really focused on the building, just heading toward the tower. But that’s when I saw something that made me stop dead in my tracks.

On the far side of the building, something was peeking around the corner. Just the upper half of its body. I only saw it for a split second, but it was tall—at least 8 feet, completely white, and not shaped like any animal I’ve seen before. It was fast. As soon as it realized I’d noticed it, it turned and bolted. The speed it moved with wasn’t normal. It was almost like it wasn’t bound by the same laws of physics—like it was too big to be that fast, too smooth in the way it moved. It was too uncanny.

Now, I just want to clarify to everyone that I have never been much of a spiritual or religious person, up until that point. I have always followed logic and reasoning, so when I saw that creature, I immediately began thinking of reasonable explanations. At first, I thought, "Was that a cow?", because I heard mooing in the fields. So I assumed that what I saw had to be a cow. But when I got far enough to see the area around the building, I saw that the cows were all fenced in, far away. There was nothing else around. And I mean, there's no way a cow could stand on its legs like that and move at the speed it did.

What really messed me up wasn’t just the sight of it—it was how I felt. The wave of dread that hit me was overwhelming. Not like normal fear. It felt primal, like something inside me knew I had to get out of there immediately. And here’s the weirdest part: I went there planning to die. But after seeing that thing, I didn’t want to die anymore. I was absolutely fucking terrified. I've never seen something like this before in my life. I don't have any history of hallucinations, and I wasn't under the influence of any drugs. What I saw...was absolutely real.

I’m not saying it was paranormal. I don’t know. But it was real—real enough that it made me turn around and leave when I thought I was ready to die. If anyone else has seen something like this—especially near towers or isolated areas in Texas—let me know.

My mother passed away very unexpectedly about two years ago. She had cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy, which she was responding well to. Her death devastated us. For a long time, it was really hard for our family to discuss the circumstances leading up to her death - it was just too painful and sudden.

Eventually I learned from my father that for the entire week prior to her passing, my mother had begun to see HER mother (who had passed 10 years prior) randomly throughout the house - in the corner of her eye, entering into rooms suddenly, and even in her dreams. She never said anything to my mother - just simply made her presence known. Often times, she would be smiling. The morning of her passing, my mom told my dad that she felt like she was outside of her body. Not in a mental way but in a physical way. She felt like she was observing her body from the outside - that she was only halfway here. She said it was a feeling that she had never felt before. She passed hours later.

It gives me chills to think about what she felt in those final moments. At the same time, it gives me comfort knowing that perhaps she was welcomed into the afterlife by her mother, or that she was able to prepare for her own passing, at least internally.

Has anyone ever heard of experiences similar to this? I have never told anyone this in fear that they would think I’m crazy or in denial or whatever else. Thus, I’m sharing it here.

Hey everyone,

I'm not someone who usually believes in paranormal stuff. I live in an 11-story apartment building, and until recently, I’ve never experienced anything I’d consider abnormal. I’ve always felt comfortable in my home.

But this past week, a few weird things happened — and I can’t stop thinking about them.

The first thing happened one morning. Because it's hot, I usually sleep with the windows open. As I woke up and reached to close the window, I glanced at the building across from mine. I can see the rooftop of that building very clearly from my room.

And that’s when I saw someone standing up there.

But… it didn’t look like a normal person.

Even though it was a bright, sunny morning, this figure looked completely black, like a shadow — no visible features, no clothes, no face, nothing.

It stood still for a moment, then slowly walked away toward the inside of the building and disappeared from view.

I was stunned. I thought maybe I was still half-asleep, but I was definitely awake.

Ever since then, I’ve been carrying my phone around more, hoping I’ll see it again and catch a photo. So far, no luck.

The second thing happened later the same day.

I was walking through the hallway and about to knock on my sibling’s door to say something. As I stood there, I heard clear footsteps behind me — like someone had just walked past.

For a second I thought, “Maybe mom’s home early?”

But then I remembered: my mom was working a night shift and wasn’t supposed to be home until late.

My sibling hadn’t left their room either. I stayed in my room for the rest of the day — not gonna lie, I was genuinely freaked out.

That night, I told my dad. He just brushed it off and said I was probably tired or imagining things.

But then, the third thing happened.

Around 11:15 PM, I was in my room. My computer was completely shut down.

Suddenly, the screen turned on by itself.

The desktop appeared, showing the time: 11:15 PM.

No updates, no mouse movement, no explanation. The screen stayed on for a bit, then just turned off again.

I don’t know how to explain all this.

There’s no obvious “threat,” and I still feel mostly safe… but it’s like something is just off.

Whenever I go to close the window now, I can’t help but check that rooftop again.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Like, seeing someone where they shouldn't be? Or strange sounds and electronics acting up without cause?

Any thoughts or experiences would be really appreciated.

For context, my grandmother lives deep in the middle of nowhere. Her house is on a secluded peninsula, surrounded by a lake. The closest store is a 15-minute drive, and her neighbors? They only come up in the summer. In December, it’s just her—and, in this case, me.

She and my grandfather were heading to Tennessee for a week and asked me to house-sit and take care of the animals. I agreed. I was 17 at the time, and honestly, I thought I’d enjoy the peace and quiet.

They packed up their things and left around 10 PM. After they drove off, I got comfortable, turned on the TV, and settled in. Around midnight, I started getting sleepy and decided to head to bed.

Let me explain the layout quickly: the house is all one level. No basement, no upstairs. You walk through the front door into the living room. The kitchen is to the left, and to the right on the other side of the living room is a hallway that leads to three bedrooms and one bathroom. My room was at the very end of the hall, and from the bed, I had a clear view of the living room.

I turned off the lights, went to my room, and laid down. Chula, my grandma’s black lab, hopped up beside me. She’s the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet. Obsessively friendly. She loves people, never growls, and is always wagging her tail at strangers. She’s just pure love in dog form.

A few hours passed. I had just drifted off to sleep when I heard my grandmother’s voice.

“Leah? Can you come help me?”

My eyes shot open.

I sat up slowly and called out, “Grandma?”

No answer.

“What do you need help with?”

Silence.

Then, a few seconds later, I heard it again—louder this time.

“Leah. I need help.”

I thought I was dreaming.

I sat all the way up, staring at the door. A few seconds passed—then I heard a low, guttural growl. I turned to look at Chula. She had sat up straight, hair raised, staring into the hallway with her teeth bared. She growled low, deep in her throat, eyes fixed on something I couldn’t see.

I turned on the hallway light and peeked out. Nothing there. No movement. I walked over and looked out the window next to the bed since it faced the driveway. Her car wasn’t there.

I quickly shut the window and locked my bedroom door, heart pounding. This was an old house—every step creaked. I should’ve heard something, but there was nothing but silence.

I grabbed my phone and tried to call my grandma. It went straight to voicemail. I called my mom, trying to sound calm, but my voice was shaking. I asked her if Grandma had come back for some reason.

She said no.

Then the knocking started.

But not at the front door.

It was right on my bedroom door.

Heavy. Slow. Deliberate.

And here’s what chilled me to my core—the voice?

Was still coming from the living room.

“Leah… please come help me.”

It didn’t make sense. I could hear her calling from the other end of the house while the knocks were right outside my door.

She kept calling me. Each time more irritated. The calmness was gone—now it was commanding, aggressive.

“Leah. Let me in. I need your help.”

“Leah. Open this door.”

“Leah—NOW.”

It sounded like her, but distorted. Like something trying to copy her voice and getting it almost right.

Chula stayed pressed to my side, growling steady and low like she’d rip something apart if it got in.

The shotgun was in the same room with me locked in the gun safe in the corner. I knew the code if I needed it, but I didn’t even move from the bed. I couldn’t. I was frozen

Eventually, the knocking stopped.

The voice faded away.

I must’ve fallen asleep somehow, because the next thing I knew, sunlight was pouring through the blinds.

For a minute, I almost convinced myself I had imagined the whole thing. But when I checked my phone, the call logs were still there. I really had called my mom. I really had called my grandma. That part was real. I tried to push it out of my headtold myself it was some kind of sleep paralysis or dream.

Around 11 PM, I’d just gotten out of the hot tub in the garage. The door was wide open there’s no one around for miles, so I hadn’t bothered to close it.

Then I heard it.

The motion sensor went off with that sharp barking alert. A second later, something slammed really loud in the garage . Like someone knocked over a metal shelf or kicked the wall.

I hit the garage remote and shut the door fast, heart racing.

Not long after, maybe 30 minutes after I got back in the house, there was a knock at the front door.

I crept toward the door, standing just far enough away to not be seen through the frosted glass. I didn’t move, didn’t speak. That’s when I heard her.

“Please… let me in. I’m cold. I’m hungry.”

The voice was scratchy, like an older woman. Soft, but weirdly flat.

I didn’t answer at first. I just stood there, frozen, heart pounding. After a few seconds, I said, loud enough to carry:

“How did you get all the way out here?”

Silence.

Then, more knocking louder, quicker now. She spoke again, more forcefully:

“I said let me in. I need help.”

I backed away from the door, still trying to stay calm. “You can’t just show up at people’s houses. You need to leave.”

That’s when the knocking changed. It wasn’t knocking anymore. It was banging.

Fast. Heavy. Aggressive.

I ran to my room and punched in the code to the gun safe. Just as I grabbed the shotgun, she slammed the door again so hard it rattled in the frame.

“LET ME IN RIGHT NOW!”

The knocking had stopped, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that she hadn’t left.

I was straining to hear anything—footsteps, whispering, even breathing—but the house was dead silent. Not even the wind.

Then her voice came again.

Not right at the door this time. Off to the side. Almost like it was outside the window.

“Leah. Please… let me in.”

I didn’t move.

She tried again, louder. Sharper.

“You’re being rude. Open the door.”

I sat down in the recliner in the living room, shotgun resting in my lap, facing the door. Chula laid tense at my feet.

I gripped the shotgun tightly, eyes locked on the door.

She circled the house. I could hear her moving from one side to the other—knocking on the kitchen door, then the garage door, then back to the front. Her voice followed, same exact words every time like a broken record:

“I need your help, Leah. You’re the only one here.”

She kept pacing around the outside of the house, banging on doors, tapping windows, muttering things I couldn’t quite hear.

That’s when it hit me.

She called me by my name.

I hadn’t told her.

I hadn’t spoken to anyone outside.

No way she should’ve known.

I thought, if she was supposed to be here, she’d use the keypad to get inside. She’d know the code.

Nobody was supposed to be here.

And yet, here she was.

I sat in the living room holding the shotgun, watching the door, until the sky started to lighten and the birds began to sing. I never heard her leave.

No footsteps.

No car.

No sound at all.

When I stepped outside after sunrise to let the dog out, the ground was covered in a thin layer of snow.

And it was untouched.

No footprints. No tire marks. No trails leading to or from the doors. Nothing.

Just cold, clean silence.

Later that morning, I called my aunt and begged her to come stay with me. I didn’t even try to explain. I just told her I couldn’t be there alone another night.

She showed up that evening, and I almost cried with relief. For the first time in two days, I felt like I could breathe.

That night, I finally was able to get the sleep I desperately needed.

I will NEVER stay there alone again.

Rest in peace chula

My wife constantly talks about the past times she used to live in and I've always laughed it off. She even claims we were together in a previous life back in like the 1600s or some shit.

Anyway, over the past 20-25 years, I've had some very specific dreams. They all involve me dying, and they've all felt so real that I've woke in horror - screaming.

In one, I was a soldier in a war. I was running with a group of guys and we were running towards another man who was screaming at us. I stepped on a landmine or something, because I remember my head hitting dirt and chunks of dirt hitting my face before blackness.

In another one, I was walking at night with a woman in an empty grocery store parking lot. We were approaching a man in a jacket who was familiar and friendly to me in the dream. He pulled a revolver and shot me in the head.

There are very specific things in these dreams that make them seem more real to me. Like, I could feel wind and wetness and cold. I've never had dreams before where I could feel elements like that.

i’ve been searching for an explanation for nearly ten years and i have no answer. please help!!

when i was 8, on black friday i watched my mom PHYSICALLY OPEN MY DOOR (which i always keep closed). not a lot, just enough for like a cat to get in.

she was in a red shirt with crystals hanging from it, and she just stared at me for a few seconds with wide eyes. not scarily and super exaggeratingly wide eyes, but wide enough it kind of concerned me. then, LEAVING THE DOOR THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY CLOSED OPEN, i heard her walk back down the hallway, and i stopped hearing her footsteps by the time she would have reached the stairs.

Kind of scared, i ran to my dad’s room, and on the way there, i saw no sign of her on the hallway or stairs. i asked what she was doing and he said she had left for the black friday sale before i had even woken up.

later that day, we met her at Uno’s, and, although i wouldn’t have had any idea what shirt she could have been wearing because i hadn’t seen her that day, SHE WAS WEARING THE SAME RED SHIRT. SO THE SPIRIT/ THING KNEW WHAT SHE WAS WEARING EVEN THOUGH I DIDN’T??!

AGHHHH HELP DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THAT WAS? HOW DID IT OPEN MY DOOR?

This happened approx 1 hour before writting this post. It wasn’t a trick of the light or anything and I am still having goosebumps. I was driving back home ~23:00 and in a village in the mountain side, I saw a drunk man crossing the street and at some point he stumbled ~100m and fell. I had my high beams on and could see him clear. As I slowed down and prepared to help him get out of the road due to obvious reasons and could see him laying down ~20-30m he turned into a white dog and walked away. Has anyone else encountered anything similar to this? At this point I am regreting not having a dashcam.

My mom died last December. She was in advanced dementia and Parkinson’s disease when she died. She was bedridden and hadn’t spoken a word in 6 years. Basically in a catatonic state. About one year before she died we had a palliative care assessment but she didn’t qualify because she was stable and the palliative care physician said she was quite stable and could likely live for another decade in this state. It was true. In the 6 years I cared for her there as only one hospital visit and she was eating and drinking normally.

One night I had a dream of her. I was in my home and I walked over to the living room. My dad was pointing at her and she was lying in the floor. She looked directly at me and said ‘I’m going to die very soon.’ Then I woke up.

About one week later she suddenly stopped eating and drinking over a period of three days. Five days later she died.

I don’t know if this post belongs here. I can’t stop thinking of it. I wanted to tell you.

When I was a kid my parents always had to work late, so me and my brother were often alone for some time. But this time my mom wasn’t working she was just doing the groceries. Don’t tell me why but me and my brother decided to go look for her since the store was only around 500m away or so. We lived in an apartment so we took the elevator to go down to the lobby. I told my little brother to wait for me upstairs until I came back with mom and he agreed. I got in and I pressed the lobby button. The elevator went down to the lobby and I saw my brother just standing there with an orange balloon. I just looked at him confused. Then I guess my real brother comes running down the stairs saying that he saw a fake me upstairs. We ran to the front office to be around people cause we thought we would be safe there. They let us play with some toys there and let us stay until my mom came back. When she came back we didn’t say a word about what happened and made a lie to keep us not in trouble. Truly something that shakes me to this day.

This incident was told to me by my father. It happened to one of his uncles sometime around the year 1957.Back then his uncle often used to go hunting in the forests of Mangaldoi since my father's ancestral home is in Mangaldoi(Assam).

Like on many other days his uncle went hunting alone and climbed up a tree to wait planning to shoot any deer or other animal that might pass below. That was a common path for such animals. It was also a full moon night so everything was visible clearly in the moonlight.

Around that time there was a cholera outbreak in many parts of Assam and especially in villages around Mangaldoi. Many people had died. However his uncle wasn’t aware that the village near the forest he was in had also been severely affected with many deaths.

While he was waiting on the tree for his prey suddenly he started hearing a sound like anklets or ghungroos jingling. He thought it might be a porcupine ("Ketela Pohu" in Assamese)and he got ready to hunt it.

But after a while he noticed that the sound wasn’t coming from a porcupine.Instead two human like figures appeared. They were of medium height and wore strange ornaments made of snail shells around their necks, on their clothes, even on their staffs and on their feet. They moved slowly and kept approaching.

As they got closer he realized they didn’t quite look human.Alarmed but alert he thought to himself "Whoever they are if they come right beneath me i’ll shoot."

And that’s exactly what happened when they reached right below the tree he fired his gun.The moment the shot hit one of the figures instantly turned into a crow and dropped to the ground dead. The other let out a terrifying scream and fled into the forest and was never seen again.

In the morning when his uncle climbed down the crow was still lying there but he didn’t touch it.He went straight home.

From that day onward he never went hunting alone in that forest again.

Tell me your most unhinged ghost stories. I don’t mean like the tv turned on one day and turned back off. Or you heard a step creek. I mean absolutely insane

It had to have been around 15, maybe 17 years ago. I don’t remember the exact date — just that it was late, and I was laying in bed like I always did, scrolling through thoughts and slowly drifting off.

At some point, I must’ve fallen asleep. But what woke me up didn’t feel normal.

I can’t tell you exactly what it was. I don’t know if it was energy, instinct, or something else entirely — but something pulled me out of sleep. I remember waking up and just feeling… off. Like the air around me had shifted.

I kept my eyes closed at first. It wasn’t fear, more like confusion. I figured maybe I was just uncomfortable, so I shifted in bed and turned to face the wall, hoping I’d fall right back to sleep.

That’s when I felt it.

The moment I turned over, the energy in the room got heavier. Not loud. Not dramatic. Just thick. The air felt like it was pressing in on me, almost buzzing — not physically, but in my chest, in my mind. Like something was right there, just beyond what I could explain.

That’s when I opened my eyes.

What I saw is something I’ll never forget. No matter how much time passes, no matter how many times I try to convince myself it didn’t happen — I remember every detail.

There was something in front of me. A face. Close enough that our noses were almost touching.

It wasn’t a blur. It wasn’t shadowy. I saw every part of it clearly. Its face had this faint, unnatural glow — just enough to outline every sharp feature. Its eyes didn’t blink. Its skin looked too smooth, too still, almost like it wasn’t real. But it was the smile that I remember most — this slow, deliberate grin that felt… wrong. Like it was mocking me. Enjoying the moment.

I couldn’t move. I couldn’t scream. I just stared back, frozen, stuck in some space between disbelief and silence.

It didn’t speak. It didn’t move. It just watched me.

I don’t know how long it lasted. Maybe a second. Maybe longer. But I remember blinking, and when I did… it was gone. Just like that. The pressure in the room lifted, and everything felt normal again.

I laid there, staring at the wall, trying to breathe. I wanted to believe it was a dream. That maybe I was half asleep, or that my mind was just playing tricks on me. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t a dream. I was awake. I was present. And whatever that thing was… it was real.

The strange part? I wasn’t terrified. Not the way you’d expect. I was shocked, yeah. But not scared.

I think part of me just believed it couldn’t hurt me. I’ve always believed in God, and in that moment, I leaned on that. I didn’t pray out loud or anything like that — I just knew that whatever it was, it didn’t have control over me.

And maybe that’s why it left.

I’ve never seen it again. Not in the way I did that night. But even now, after all these years, I still think about that moment. How real it felt. How quiet. How close.

Sometimes I wonder if it was waiting to see how I’d react. Or maybe it just wanted to be seen.

Either way… I saw it.

I’d love to hear about everyone’s favorite paranormal podcasts! The ones I once loved just aren’t doing it for me anymore, unfortunately. Used to really enjoy Radio Rental, but lately, the true crime stories have really overshadowed paranormal ones, boo. Used to LOVE Spooked, but they primarily publish old episodes now, and the occasional new story just isn’t that great, sadly. I’ve tried Belief Hole, but it’s just too corny boots for me - I can only handle so many carbon-copy Bigfoot stories. Still enjoying Rattled and Shook, but I miss April as co-host, and I much prefer hearing stories directly from the storyteller vs read by a narrator.

Give me your best recs!! :)
