StreetComplete makes contributing to OpenStreetMap easy and fun by turning contributions into "quests" on a map for you to complete. No personal information is required, just create an OpenStreetMap account, and start contributing directly in your area!

I tried this out myself, and it is truly fantastic! I had never heard of it, and I'm sure many of you haven't either, so spread the word!

Tip: When entering buildings to ask questions (opening hours, etc.) be ready to explain what OpenStreetMap is :)

I somewhat urgently need a map, but for the past day or two there are no maps in #OSMand available for download. Can anyone confirm or deny this problem?

Is this related to the OSM outtage 6 days ago, which was supposedly resolved?

(edit) workaround -- download maps manually and side-load them. The maps are here:

Next question: how do you know which files cover a particular city if it’s not obvious from the filename?

Openstreetmap has 96 languages supported while Google Maps merely has 74 and Apple Maps only has 33.

This makes it way more accessible to the world!

Currently the map data is in read-only mode thanks to the backup Irish servers and the outage has been ongoing for 10 hours.
