Since the repo has no screenshots here's a water level: https://lemmy.ml/pictrs/image/69ffe490-5809-452a-8843-ae99d143acb7.png

Out of the water you have wall jumps, slide jumps and overall some nice feeling movement/controls.

It's been two years since the repository was last edited, but they've apparently went quite far already. Not supposed to be playable, though.

Website description:

Taisei (泰西, lit. Occident) is a free and open-source fangame of the Tōhō series, written in C using SDL2 and OpenGL.

Basically, it is a shoot ’em up game with lots of bullets (the genre is literally called bullet hell). It doesn’t aim to rebuild a particular installment of the Tōhō games, but is rather an original game set in the world of Tōhō. Enjoy dodging through 6 stages full of new bullet patterns on four difficulty levels!

Announcing bgammon.org (online multiplayer backgammon)

I have developed an entirely free and open source multiplayer backgammon service.

You can try it out by visiting https://bgammon.org or by connecting via SSH:

ssh bgammon.org -p 5000

I would very much appreciate help with testing and feedback from anyone who knows how to play backgammon, or is interested in learning. The rules of backgammon are available here:

https://bkgm.com/rules.html

The password prompt is currently non-functional, and private lobbies are not yet available. Otherwise, the service is ready to test out, particularly the accuracy of the backgammon simulation. Because there are no accounts yet, everyone is logged in as a guest.

A terminal-based client is available, and a graphical client is planned. The terminal-based client is available over the web at the link above. This is accomplished by using GoTTY.

Move pieces by dragging them or by clicking a source space and then a destination space. You may make multiple moves by dragging a checker directly to its final destination.

The source code is available here: server & client.

Feel free to contact me directly at trevor@rocket9labs.com with test results and feedback.

ssh playnetris.com

Endless Sky is an open source space merchant game with space battles, a huge amount of ships and variety, dozens of alien species, multiple storylines, and so much more. I think my favorite part is how accessible it is to contribute to the game; most things like storylines, quests, and ship outfits can be added or modified with a simple text file. Saves are also plain text files, and can be edited, exported, and imported. There are also tools for creating sprites and the game actively encourages mods, which they call plugins. It's such a deep and complex game already, and only one storyline is actually complete. It's available on steam, and a mobile port for Android exists on f-droid

It'd supposedly be much easier to edit/mod/contribute to, right?

Found this game on F-Droid. The story doesn't seem to be finished yet, but I quiet enjoyed playing as far, as it goes. https://gitlab.com/deepdaikon/Xeonjia
