Around 100 police officers have resigned and fled from Maungdaw district police base and Myoma police station in Rakhine State. All of them are now charged with treason under section 505 at Maungdaw Myoma police station, said a source in the police community.

"Many police officers have already fled and more are joining them. Lately around 100 police officers have resigned," added the source.

Since the return of gun fighting between the junta soldiers and Arakan Army (AA) fighters on 13 November 2023, the number of resignations and fleeing incidents only increased in Maungdaw district police and Myoma police station.

Deputy junta chief Soe Win has not been seen in public for more than two weeks amid widespread rumors that he was severely injured in a resistance drone attack on April 9.

The Myanmar military’s No. 2 was at its Southeastern Command in Mawlamyine, Mon State overseeing military operations in neighboring Karen State’s Myawaddy Township when resistance forces attacked the base with drones.

Myanmar’s junta is accused of burning down Buthidaung town in Rakhine State using forced Rohingya recruits in an apparent attempt to boost ethnic hatred.

Kyaikmayaw residents reported continued clashes on Friday and that the junta convoy was stranded. Convoys heading to Myawaddy on the Thai border are stranded at the Dawna Range near Kawkareik town. Residents said the convoy in Kawkareik Township in Karen State.

Several resistance forces simultaneously attacked Defense Industry Factory No. 21, one of the Junta's arms factories, located in Magway Region on April 16, according to the initial battle report released by the Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government (NUG).

At 9:00 am, the attack was executed simultaneously through collaboration between the People's Defense Force (PDF) and resistance forces affiliated with the Magway Region Command Office operating within the No. 1 Military Region.

Myanmar’s military regime has arrested a senior official of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) at the urging of China’s government, sources in Naypyitaw have confirmed.

Myint Hlaing, a former central executive member of the military’s proxy party, [and a former lieutenant general] was taken into custody early Wednesday morning for questioning regarding his alleged involvement with online fraud gangs, the sources said.

Initially, junta officials requested that the Thai government approve the landing of three evacuation flights in Mae Sot from Yangon over three days, April 7 to 9, after Myawaddy was attacked by Karen ethnic soldiers and allied resistance troops.
