we will walk you through setting up a very powerful Monero server on TrueNAS. By completing these steps, you will be able to connect to your own self-hosted Monero node with the official Monero wallet and Cake Wallet, and you will be able to connect to your own self-hosted Monero LWS server with Edge Wallet and MyMonero.

We are at the bottom left grey corner.

Some exponential breakthrough is needed to get to the green or red lines, where quantum computers can be used for chemistry or to break older encryption like RSA.

Don't forget that your data is forever, though.
For example, there are a lot of intercepted diplomatic messages that are just waiting for quantum computers to get better. At that point, state secrets will be revealed.

The same applies for your pgp encrypted messages to share cat memes on dread.

The switch to quantum-resistant crypto is still needed.

Stablecoins are a backdoor CBDC w/ Aaron Day (MT 352)

TODAY'S 🎙SHOW:Douglas Tuman and Aaron Day explore the growing threat of stablecoins as a covert form of CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency), with Aaron warning that the situation has worsened dramatically—"100 times worse than a year ago." He critiques the Trump administration’s stance, noting that despite public opposition to CBDCs, its policies are paving the way for a backdoor digital currency through stablecoin regulation. Key figures like Brian Brooks and Howard Lutnick—linked to major stablecoins and now in influential government roles—highlight what Aaron describes as a Silicon Valley and "PayPal mafia" takeover of policy. The proposed Genius Act and Stable Act would require stablecoins to be fully backed by U.S. Treasuries, effectively forcing users to fund government debt and surveillance systems. With projections of $120 trillion in stablecoin transactions by 2030, Aaron calls this "turbo cancer for CBDC adoption."

The conversation shifts to solutions within the privacy coin space, emphasizing unity against technocratic control. Aaron highlights FUSD (Freedom Dollar), a private algorithmic stablecoin built on Zano, which offers an alternative by being over-collateralized with Zano rather than tied to government-backed assets. He discusses Zano's technical advantages, including its deflationary model, while defending its pre-mine as a necessary step for development funding. Both hosts stress the importance of collaboration across privacy projects like Monero, Tari, and Zano to resist systemic control. They also preview Porkfest, where they’ll host a privacy tent and welcome Ross Ulbricht and his mother Lynn, who is launching a new advocacy initiative.

Despite all the obvious benefits of mollywopping the middlemen with P2P money, the thing people can't seem to handle is the 10 block lock (~20 min delay). I like to tell people it takes a minute to launder Monero so it comes out scrubbed. How do you explain the 10 block lock as a benefit not a bug?

Hello everyone! Good morning/afternoon/evening!

Are you tired of CloudFlare maintaining a kind of monopoly over the Internet? With CF watching your passwords, connections and data to supposedly protect websites from DDOS attacks?

Well, here is ArWeb, created by SimplifiedPrivacy, Arweave is the solution to decentralize the Internet and make all sites censorship-resistant, so no more CF and centralized CDNs, Arweave is the perfect solution against DDOS attacks.

  • What is ArWeb looking for? -> ArWeb wants to be able to make it easier to put your site on Arweave, making updates and links easy.

  • But can't ArWeb simply censor by being an intermediary? -> ArWeb uploads directly from your machine to the Arweave blockchain, i.e. without intermediaries and terms of service.

  • Which locations are covered? -> the whole world.

  • Where can I plug in ArWeb? -> Anywhere, in your app, podcast, RSS channel and anywhere else, WITHOUT LIMITS.

Benefits: A) Own your Domain Name & Content B) Take Control of Your Means of Expression C) Reject Woke Big Tech D) Save Money. No Monthly Fees E) Leave a Legacy for Future Generations F) Be Remembered after you Die G) Get Purpose.. Be Part of Meaningful Change.

Use-Cases: Blogs/ArticlesPodcastsVideosArtwork PortfoliosPhoto albums (Save Your Memories/Time capsule).

Disclaimer: I'm not being sponsored or receiving any money for this, I'm doing it because I think ArWeb will be EXTREMELY useful for the Monero community, we have to get rid of CloudFlare.

Hello glowies. We know you are here. We hope one day you defect to our side and use your skills and talents to help the people free themselves from technocrats, statists and authoritarians. Until then, in Monero we trust. Have a nice day.

How well does Monero CLI run on something like a Raspberry Pi?

I’ve read that setting up your own node and doing solo mining helps further decentralise Monero. However, can a Raspberry Pi or multiple ones, really make a difference?

I’m not interested in actual earnings from mining. Only helping the network.

Switched from recommending getmonero.org to usexmr.com Noticed noobs respond better to it. Pamphlets are excellent. Thinking I'll make a few stickers up and leave them around. Great community initiative.

I want to share my monero with the devoted workers over there at OF.

On Trocador it's possible that I will need to disconnect my VPN to redeem the card, and that's not an option.

With Cake wallet, there is a US-only mastercard, but I would like to make international payments too.

How do you pay for OF and the likes?

UPDATE : I have tried using Cake Pay and I did not receive a card to redeem!

$25 lost... I remember now that when buying the card, I had to check a box to confirm that I was NOT using a VPN. I was. I had misread it. I am going to try my luck with their support.

In-App Monero

This project is a great use-case for Monero, and sacrificed creating it's own cryptocurrency to help Monero's adoption.

It already features in-app Monero payments, and will be in the future decentralizing out the Wireguard nodes, starting with Monero influencers getting the first offers. Let's first understand what it is, then how it helps Monero.

Browser Fingerprints

LibreWolf is marketed as “anti-fingerprint”, but this web browser can’t even beat fingerprint-com’s free demo,

I closed Librewolf, then re-opened it. And that same ID comes up on repeat visits, even in private mode. But then Librewolf installed on a different VM: with the same default settings and version, produces a DIFFERENT UNIQUE fingerprint,

Brave

Brave Browser is also vulnerable to complete fingerprinting.

Brave’s “anti-fingerprint” mode does not change these results. Fingerprint.com is on THOUSANDS of websites, through their Javascript and API calls. TrustPilot, Western Union, TD-Ameritrade, Dropbox, & 6 thousand others. You’re very likely using sites with their services, without even knowing it.

Tor Browser Breaks Websites

The government made Tor Browser to protect them, and NOT for your privacy.

Even if Tor IPs aren't blocked, then blocking JavaScript in "strict" mode breaks many websites.

HydraVeil

HydraVeil has the goal of allowing you to separate your life into isolated browser fingerprint profiles.

3 pieces:

It's 3 things:

a) a replacement for virtual machines

b) a linux browser distribution

c) VPN or Tor->socks5 proxies, with isolated burner Monero billing

Replace Virtual Machines

HydraVeil launches isolated profiles. Each of these profiles has a second graphical environment that realistically creates a new screen display size, browser version, and matches your timezone to the IP address.

Load Speeds

We discussed in the articles linked below, how Cloudflare measures and records ping speeds, across multiple services.

VPN or Tor->Socks5 Proxies

With HydraVeil, each profile gets its own IP address, giving you a new load speed. These can be completely anonymous as it's browser-only, so a different VPN can be used system-wide. There's also Tor -> socks5 options for sites that block Tor, such as MoneroTown. Each gets it's own burner Monero billing.

Browser Distro

HydraVeil acts like a 2nd Linux distro for browsers. We removed the telemetry and spyware from these browsers, while as Firefox from other Linux distros has malware by default.

Monero's Use-Case:

Monero's unparalleled privacy makes it the strongest choice for powering this VPN, since it provides the best cover for which profiles are you. By offering such incredible utility, HydraVeil gives an excellent use-case for Monero adoption, and directly encourages users to keep an update-to-date sync'ed wallet for regular use.

XMRBazaar

This is a large and ambitious project, especially for an organization without KYC bank accounts, that is registered purely with XMRBazaar, as a legal system. We seek to encourage awareness of the Bazaar, and establish a parallel economy outside traditional restrictive institutions.

Hi guys! Good morning/afternoon/evening! Well, the title already explains everything, we need more TRULY decentralized marketplaces for Monero, I really feel that if we depend on XMRBaazar we're in big trouble... Some I can mention:

  • The site is not Decentralized and can be blocked/closed;
  • We don't have .onion and .i2p (which should be ESSENTIAL). (There are probably more, but I forgot).

My idea is that it is possible to create an open-source marketplace protocol that works together with Monero and anonymity networks (such as TOR, I2P and others, take a look at particl, as we can use it as an example), we have to make sure that Monero can ALWAYS be used regardless of what happens (and preserving the privacy and anonymity of EVERYONE), that's why I'm making this post as a place where the community can discuss this, I hope we have good results, because Monero is not just code, it's YOU (and me) who want a future where everyone can sell and buy what they want without discrimination and tracking, Monero is fundamental for us to have a future with freedom and with Anonymity and privacy of our information.

Long live Monero and all our amazing community full of great researchers to ordinary civilians who want their finances to be private.

As most of you probably know coinbase recently got hacked and personal information including customers ID's, phone numbers, emails, home addresses, balances and transaction histories are now in the hands of the hackers.

These attackers now know exactly how much crypto people hold and where they live.

This breach clearly shows the dangers of using KYC exchanges and why no-KYC might be the best solution.

According to the latest rumor, some Asian darknet overlords are responsible.

They have billions in non-fungible digital money, and they are moving it into Monero because the Alphabet boys came down on them.

Haowang Guarantee was larger than the Silk Road, larger than Hydra, just the "largest illicit online marketplace to have ever operated", with $27 Billion of transactions since launching in 2021.

Let me answer that. We need a hidden underground forum that doesn't autoblock any subject heading that ends in a question, one that allows Tor and VPN log ins, one without a stupid Reddit CQS (Contributor Quality Score) that rates experienced posters with tens of thousands of karma points as "low quality" just for logging in from an ip address Reddit doesn't like or for having an email address that doesn't end in yahoo, gmail or outlook.com. One where you don't have to PM a moderator and beg them to allow your post, one without bots (created by Reddit and moderators here) crawling for reasons to block your post, one that doesn't censor free speech, one that doesn't have moderators who get lost in the weeds telling us that according to section 5, subsection A, paragraph 4, line 57, this or that subject is off topic "but I'll allow it anyway", losing sight of the fact that monero is supposed to be about freedom. How about one that won't get rid of PMs and force chat upon us in June? Lastly, how about a forum where we won't have to jump through all of these hoops for the privilege of having all of the great knowledge of our discussions here (that we provide to Reddit for free) be sold to Google for millions of dollars to train Gemini, their LLM AI.

Oh, and one that doesn't kill 3rd party apps.

So are we all stupid for remaining here? I think so. The only reason I'm still here is because 345,601 other XMR users refuse to migrate to monero.town or some other place and this is the only place my posts get any real exposure.

This is only Number Go Up!

This is not real adoption!

.... (other similar truths that seem like nonsense right now)

NGL it's terrible to see the number go up exactly when you have no xmr left...

I am seeing a lot of posts about technical issues, like:

I saw that the migration to the latest lemmy version was coming in the next weeks (?).

Is there a need to ask the community to pitch in some donations or tech support?

Could this all be an elaborate plan from a state actor to takeover our 100-people community of uncensorable monero fans? ;-)

There was a time when we were still trying to figure-out what to do when Binance or other CEXs delist Monero.

There was a time when we were still discussing when would p2p DEXs be available for Monero.
