From the creator of Brass and a couple other reasonably successful modpacks comes an entirely new experience: Rotary Skies!

You wake up and look at your floating rock of dirt. It seems so familiar, somehow, but then a massive meteor screams through the sky overhead. Welcome to Rotary Skies!

Rotary Skies is the authorized Rotarycraft-centered Skyblock modpack. The start seems similar enough, but as soon as you get steel, a whole world of engines, gearboxes, grinders, pumps, and centrifuges opens up!

Work through over eighty quests as you go from cobblestone generators to fusion reactors! The quests guide you but don’t hold your hand. They’ll tell you what you need to do next, but not exactly how. In Rotary Skies, the “how” is the fun part!

There is no sieving in this modpack! What are you, some kind of caveman? No, until our liquefaction machines and centrifuges are up and running, we hunt for ores in the nether, like men (or other strong, mighty genders)!

We also keep bees, and by “keep bees” I mean selectively-breed and genetically-modify bees in our quest for the uberbiene: the ultimate bee! We’ve also got trains and stuff, so that’s cool.

Eventually the day will come where we will obtain the elusive and mysterious Crystal, allowing us to escape from our Sky Island and into pocket dimensions of our own creation, full of resources and incredible creatures.

This mod caught my eye. It's similar to a plugin that was on a server I used to play on. Nice to see it as a proper mod instead of a plugin. It's pretty configurable and could be a good addition to the right modpack.

It's an authorized port, and it looks like most of the cart stuff has made it over.

New month, new post! Spill it, peeps. What have you been up to?

as per the title, I updated MB to 2.6 via ATLauncher. There was no indication that a mod (if not multiple, I haven't cross-referenced it yet) was removed from it. I don't even seem to have backups (stupid of me, I know. I've just gotten used to automatic backups I suppose) so that I could revert, reload the world to restore my stuff, close, re-upgrade and add colossal chests back in...

Be careful when updating modpacks. I think I'll need to start looking at the change logs from now on.

Hey guys. I just recently found out about prism launcher and shortly after that it was forked from mmc. I'm now wondering what you guys prefer for playing Minecraft on Linux. It feels like mmc hasn't been updated in a while so I was thinking about trying out prism.

Early game. Covers some of the old-school skyblock stuff.

Forestry, Railcraft, and other miscellaneous machines like the printing press

Later Rotarycraft machines as well as a touch of Reactorcraft, Minechem, and Mystcraft

I didn't know that mekanism was three mods in total and I am playing it with friends in our server meaning I can't add the exstra mod without asking them the question is: Can I generste power for meksnisn using create or immersive engineering

The Create machines are sneakily powered by a waterwheel, whose water source is dispensed / picked up with a button press, along with the one for bulk washing. And ooooh boy it was fun to figure out how to make it fit and look decent.

Mods used:

  • Create
  • Farmer's Delight
  • Cooking for Blockheads
  • Botany Pots (for growing crops)
  • Croptopia (cooking utensils on oven)
  • Decorative Blocks (supports)
  • Another Furniture (shelves)
  • Supplementaries (cog blocks)
  • Quark (spruce chests)

Server performance is not very good with so many mods, and I have been looking into ways to fix this. One of the latest comments on the ATM8 page on CurseForge is from XZot1K, and says the following:

After lots of testing I resolved most of my issues by installing the following mods to the server (Ensure to install the correct versions, as of writing this the version is latest of each for 1.19.2):

https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/too-fast

https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/smooth-chunk-save

https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/chunk-sending-forge-fabric

https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/packet-size-doubler

These mods will resolve larger packet disconnect issues, chunk lag, and irregular movement rubber banding.

In addition to these, for further improvement, set the tick rate to -1 in the server.properties file.

Paste the following into the bottom of your "user_jvm_args.txt" (change the 6GB and 256m to your liking

Xms must be less than Xmx):

-Xmx6G -Xms256m -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=200 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:G1NewSizePercent=30 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=40 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:G1HeapWastePercent=5 -XX:G1MixedGCCountTarget=4 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=15 -XX:G1MixedGCLiveThresholdPercent=90 -XX:G1RSetUpdatingPauseTimePercent=5 -XX:SurvivorRatio=32 -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=1 -Dusing.aikars.flags=https://mcflags.emc.gs -Daikars.new.flags=true

Please note that while these additional mods do work on the client the major improvement comes from the server-side.

I've already used those jvm arguments, but I didn't look for performance mods before. Now, after fiddling a bit around with them, the server feels much snappier (and I don't have to install anything client side)! I'm hosting on Azure, with a Standard D2s v3 (2 vcpus, 8 GiB memory) VM, and when I would do a /home from a far away place it would take a few seconds to load. Now, it's almost instantaneous! Thanks XZot1K! :)

The server also used to crash whenever multiple people entered the Nether, but I haven't been able to test this yet with the new configuration.

If you have any tips to improve performance, please share them here :)

Meet the new forge, same as the old forge. Forge has been forked, with the majority of forge's developers moving over to the fork, NeoForge. They hope to implement some major improvements come 1.21 and maintain compatibility with Forge mods on 1.20.

Server IP: Osland.mcserver.us

Osland is a server that is brand new, and needs more members. We have a cool seed where there's almost all biomes near spawn, and a dedicated shopping district. No whitelist (hopefully I wont have to have one). The spawn area building is temporary and I'd like for the server to collectively build a town of starter bases there. 1, so we have our own area to run to in case of death w/o a bed set, and 2, so we can have a cool mishmash of styles to see and neighbors to interact with. You can find the shopping district if you follow the path from the (temporary) spawn tower. Make sure you check the two lecterns on the way out for instructions on how to claim land and the rules of the server.

Most mods/datapacks are quality of life and perks like nicknames, hats, sitting anywhere, timber mod, no level cap on anvils, shulkers respawn, etc. We also have server friendly recipes for items like shulker boxes (spire template with 8 planks), duplicating pottery sherds (same way you would with trims but with a brick and 7 copper), and more. There is a main focus on resource packs that add some aesthetic blocks like carved wood in place of the stripped wood (not log) block, colored cobblestone, glazed terracotta patterns, new colorful designs for pottery sherds, and more, including some VanillaTweaks stuff. We are taking suggestions for which mods/data packs/resource packs to add to the server, just drop suggestions in the Discord.

We run a Fabric server, but no mods are required to play. Just use your vanilla 1.20.1 Java client.

We're also looking for moderators (0/3 spots filled) to help for when I'm not able to be online. Preferences are that you are at least 20 years old, and have some experience being a mod of a server. I could use some extra help with the LuckPerms mod. Feel free to apply even if you don't have these qualifications, as I'm sure we can work together on getting you up to speed. Perks for mods include getting a chunk of 500 extra claim blocks as well as all recipes unlocked, access to /nickname and /hat as well, and a special rank indicating mod status. Possibly more to come as the server develops.

We have a store that is still in development but purchases will be honored even if the command doesn't work properly. Just show a receipt of your purchase via Discord dms.

I never found create interesting and it's very tedious and it's in almost every single 1.16+ modpack. I just never understood why seemingly everyone likes it so i would like to hear your opinions

Edit: Wish for good progression based modpacks for newer minecraft versions without Create, maybe thats my "beef" with the mod

I've been working on a new modpack, which I've been teasing some here and there. It's a Rotarycraft-centered Skyblock without a certain famous skyblock mod, giving it a unique feel. I've finally gotten to the point of having a test build, and here's some screenshots of my starter base. You can see updates on progress on my discord: https://discord.gg/ZsBzr4m

In the interest of kickstarting more discussion here, what cool new things coming down the pipe are you excited for?

I'm personally had my eye on Team Abnormal's Caverns and Chasms for a long while now; it actually looks like a release might finally be in sight!

Making a server for the first time, any plug-ins yall recommend to improve the experience as much as possible while not requiring a modded client to join?
