Mlem for Lemmy

If I scroll for some time posts start reappearing

I dont like opening a community and seeing all the post body, photos etc.

Just crashes. I need to add new communities via the web.

I understand there’s a lot of work going into this app so I wanted to thank you right off the bat!

I’m having an issue I can’t seem to figure out how to resolve and it’s unfortunately making the app unusable for me.

Every time I look at my feed the first post is a very long stickied post about how to use Lemmy World. While it’s helpful information, I have to scroll past it every time I go to use the app no matter the sort I choose. The only way around this is to go to a specific community directly. It takes so long to scroll past I’ve just given up using the app for now.

Is there a way to collapse posts in the feed or hide read posts, or ignore stickied posts? I’ve been using the mobile web browser in the meantime but it’s not ideal.

I saw on GitHub that dark mode is included in the app but I can’t find it anywhere in the settings. Does anyone know how to turn it on or is just something that will come in later updates?

I have been trying for days to log in. No matter what I do, I keep getting could not connect to [server]. I tried for days and it didn't work.

Then I realized. I have a password manager installed, and I let it pick its longest password length (100 characters). I reduced it to 32 characters, and my login immediately worked.

Lemmy itself supports huge passwords, but it seems as if mlem does not. I do not know how long your password can be before mlem pukes on its own shoes, but it's somewhere between 32-100 haha.

Can I request a way to search posts? We can currently search communities, but let’s say I want to go back and find a post is saw before? I’d like to be able to search a keyword and find that post. Don’t know if that is possible or not?

Seems like there is a limit to the number of posts shown in the all or subscribed feed. Once the bottom is reached it stops loading more posts

I'm on an iPhone 7 which is locked to iOS 15. The phone is still great and works with apps like Apollo like a charm. Is there any chance that Mlem will eventually support it?

Hi all, I am looking for a search to go through all posts across communities or search for community names. Is this already implemented in Mlem or should I use the browser? Thanks

Lemmy instance servers are all struggling to handle the massive influx of traffic and new users

Unfortunately, this is resulting in long load times, lagging in user actions, and failed data interactions. As a result, you may experience login issues. some comments may get lost, some votes may not get registered, and you may see inconsistent/inaccurate comment/vote counts among some other strange issues.

This is a Lemmy issue, not one with Mlem. Hopefully, as server capacity is increased across instances, these extraneous errors will subside. Until then, just know that they're not unusual during times of high traffic and server stress. I’m new to Lemmy and use “new communities” community to find communities I like but every time I click the links in their posts, mlem crashes.

Am I doing something wrong? I am patient and so far I’m getting a hang of the app but this constant crashing is annoying.

Love the app by the way, I know it’s. A work in progress but is close enough to scratch my Apollo itch

Hey, are there any plans to hide read posts, once one has read them? Apollo had this feature and I would very much appreciate it in this app.

On the web interface there is a block community button on the sidebar. This functionality is currently missing and I think will be important for newcomers who are using All to discover content. Similarly a subscribe from the feed could also help people build or rebuild a list of communities.

Hello everyone, first post here! I’m trying to get a hang of Lemmy and Mlem at the same time. When I switch my feed to “All posts”, it looks like it’s only showing posts from my local server. Is there a way to see all posts on all servers? Thanks!

Just to check. The app crashes a lot, and that is fine. Still early days! But you do you get them? Or do I need to report them somewhere? If that would be even possible given I do not know what happened.

So far I has been:

• scrolling
• reading
• upvoting
• posting a message
• subscribing to a new .. argh how do we call them here again 😬 subreddit

When i head on the messages section i just see my username and a weird number, i was wondering if anyone else is getting notifications or if the feature is yet to be added

Having a list of communities I’m subbed to would be amazing to have. Unless it’s here I can’t find it. I don’t want to have to favorite everything I sub to so I can click on it. I have to scroll endlessly to find the sub I want to enter. Having a list would be more helpful.

Over the past few days many admins have been stickying giant posts, which makes scrolling through Mlem a little rough.

Any plans to have a feed that truncates or completely hides the body of posts?

I cannot seem to log on. It says I logged it but it cannot connect to the server. Do I have to configure something in settings?

Just saw it on the twitch stream.

I just wrote out a post, and as I tried to figure out if I could post a picture by clicking on the post url option, it closed the post pop up and deleted my post.

Anyway the shelf pop up can save? Or maybe have the option to save a draft instead of an automatic cancel when the shelf disappears.

I don’t see reply’s to my comments in the app and the ‘Messages’ screen doesn’t contain any messages. I see them all on Lemmy.ml though
