When scrolling through the main feed eventually I will hit a point where it’s roughly the same 20 or so posts on repeat. The posts might not be in the exact same order and new content will be mixed in.

In Apollo it would eventually hit “the bottom” of the feed and it wouldn’t go any further. This feels like the app is fetching the next posts but without a full page of results it's returning the same posts again and again.

Anyone else seeing this?

When you open a new post which doesn’t contain any comments, you latest comment from whatever post is displayed ever so briefly before the “no comments” message is shown. I managed to screen record it but I’m not sure how to attach a video.

I can’t get the push notifications to work. When I try to turn it on it just sits and spends. Is there a setting that is causing the issue?

As the title says, I'm wondering how to make previously hidden posts reappear? In Apollo when posts were marked as read, they were only hidden from the frontpage feed and not the subreddit feed. Sometimes I want to revisit a discussion or check out something that I already saw before and I don't know how to find it in the app.

From home, swiping left opens up my subscriptions. Selecting a subscription opens all the post there. Once I’m done with that sub, I’m expecting to swipe left again to go back to the subscription list so I can move on to the next i want to read.

Instead a left swipe takes me back home. This is strange behaviour. Swiping left is essentially a back to where you came from. Which in this case is my subscription list.

Could this be fixed please?

Or am I doing it wrong? My expectation is that when I block a community it will stop showing up in my feed including “all”. This is not happening. Blocked communities are still showing up. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Since we have now long press option on comments, can you add up/downvoting for this? I have disabled gestures and comment actions, so no way to vote. I also get a strong haptic feedback with long pressing comments, but I have it disabled in settings

To switch accounts, long press on the profile button on the bottom:

As the title says. Features are now available on TestFlight. Apple should approve the release on Monday, so let's hope that happens and it's available everywhere. Cheers.

Edit: Noticed a problem with the marking as read. Fixed now and I'll update here shortly.

I woke up today with 5 messages indicated down in the bottom row of buttons. But in light mode, that number was really hard to read with the black text against the red bubble background.

Recommend changing that number to white text. The contrast is much better. And keep the white against red for dark mode as well.

Thanks again!!

I have added a couple profiles on different instances. How do I change between them?

188

I get a notification that I have a message/comment, and when I read it, I still have to clear it by hitting the envelope button to clear the notification from the app.

Will there be a way to make this clear when read sometime in the future?

I think an enhancement to the profile page would be to jump to my comments in a thread from the profile. For example, you can do this with jump to your post but not comments.

Thanks! Keep up the great work!

Hey there, is it possible to change the language memmy uses to something other than what my phone’s OS is set to?

I have an iPhone, my iOS is set to German, but I don’t necessarily like the German localization of memmy (no offense to whoever’s involved in that). Usually, the newer iOS versions let you change the preferred language of individual apps separately from the system language. That’s not possible for memmy (yet?). Maybe I missed something in memmy’s settings?

Another question that somewhat relates to that: Can I search within specific communities rather than the entirety of all instances? I wanted to search the memmy community for questions similar to mine, but as far as I can tell I can only search for communities or posts, but not posts inside specific communities.

Thanks!

One of my favorite features of Apollo was the keyword filters that would hide any posts that match. Blocking communities only goes so far. Having this ability in Memmy would go a long way to resuming a life free of Trump and Elon Musk posts.

Thank you.

So, if I go into my comments, I can see them, but they don’t seem to link back to the original conversations/threads in which I made the comment.

Is this a bug or am I just kind of… dumb?

I assume it’s the latter but I could still use help.

Thanks!

I’d like to ignore all the posts from the bot (named bot) that simply brings Reddit content over, since the vast majority of the time, the real content that would be valuable would be the comments, and those aren’t brought over with the posts, so… it’s not useful to me. Is there a way to do that with Memmy?

Also, it might be nice to browse All sometimes but specifically ignore certain communities I’m not interested in. Viewing by blacklist instead of by whitelist, sort of thing.

I’m just curious. I read somewhere that apps coded with swift UI function better in IOS and I was wondering if Memmy is using that.

This is the first time I’ve noticed this, but it seems to be happening regularly with the latest 0.5 Test flight:

  1. I open a post and see comments
  2. I upvote the post, number of upvotes goes up
  3. I swipe right to go back to my feed and see the post does not reflect my upvote.

I’ll post an example here:

Love the app and appreciate the effort.

Just wanted to highlight that zooming in with your fingers on an image is super weird. It’s like the zoom focal point is way off the screen. Hopefully a simple fix when you have time to have a look.

Thanks again!

A feature that seems missing from all lemmy apps is a way to browse instances I’m not signed. Say I’m at lemmy.ml and find a post I like from lemmy.world. I’d like to see what else lemmy.world has to offer, so listing the communities there would be awesome.

To me that’s the worst part of the fediverse, not being able to browser neighbors communities. This feature would bridge this gap and make using the fediverse more pleasurable.
