I just can't figure out how to navigate to this. I have a dozen subscribed communities in Lemmy World. I downloaded the Memmy app for IOS and I'm logged in using the same user id/password. But I don't see my Subscribed communities content anywhere in the app. All I see under Feed is a stream of every random topic/meme...which I have no interest in whatsoever. I just want to see my subscribed community content. What am I missing? I've tapped on all the buttons and can't get to my subscribed communities.

Help?

Lemmy.world was experiencing authentication issues yesterday, making it difficult to comment and vote.

These issues were resolved some hours ago when lemmy.world updated to 18.02, but you may still be experiencing issues with your account on third party apps such as memmy.

If so, everything will start working normally if you remove your account from the app and add it again! Possibly just reinstalling will also achieve the same thing, but I haven’t tested that personally.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it’s still there, not a big thing just thought I’d point it out 😊

I think it would be very useful to be able to browse communities by instance. For example I’d like to be able to search an instance name and get a list of all the communities @ that instance. It would help to get a feel for the vibe of a particular instance without having to leave the app, and also be good for community discovery.

Another way to do this would be to be able to browse the Local feed of another instance than your own, but I can imagine that this would be more difficult to implement.

Would like to be able to change gestures.

For example, I woud like to be able to change the option from “commenting” to “save”.

I have turned on hide NSFW but, I still see NSFW on my feed.

There is currently something going on over at Lemmy.world causing authentication issues. This isn't a memmy specific issue but is also plaguing the PWA. https://lemmy.world/post/1364490

Until this is fixed, the best bet it to just keep "retrying". This would explain some of the issues I thought were linked to issues inside the app but might be something else.

I have an update ready that will fix a bunch of these internal issues with the app, but unfortunately it's going to break Lemmy.world terribly for anyone using it, so I'm going to hold off on releasing that until they figure out what is going on.

Saw this post, which brings up a good point that we are still using Imgur for image hosting, tho not specifically for the reason they give, but partly yes because it had been the Reddit standard.

Imgur is convenient because everyone uses it, it offers free image hosting and has no size restrictions. It’s been the winning go to for image hosting for a decade.

I personally only use Imgur because that’s what’s been baked into Apollo, and now Memmy, tho I do not keep a personal account.

However, Imgur is migrating towards monetizing user data and supplying ads. As part of that, they are now restricting what (legal) content may be uploaded, no longer allow anonymous content, and now ban content from being viewed via VPN. I’m sure there are more reasons to add to this, but as things move towards federating content I think it makes sense to use a federated solution to host image uploads.

This of course is probably a tall ask for a number of reasons. Of course this would put a huge strain on whatever instance became to go to for image uploads as all users using Memmy would be shoehorned into using that instance, plus a number of other reasons.

But I guess what I’d like to ask is: **is there a better option for easy image uploading for Memmy? **

One thought is, users could create their own accounts on whatever image hosting instance they want and have Memmy log in their PixelFed (or even Imgur) or whatever account for image uploading. That way it’s on the user rather than forcing an option.

In the lower right of the screenshot, what is that icon for? I must have missed one of the changelogs.

Found a post that was part of lemmy.world. tried to comment and it said i wasn't logged in. cleared cache deleted and re-added account and same issue. Any ideas?

I’ve tried blocking several bot accounts and a few communities and it doesn’t seem blocking actually works.

On top of that I have “blur and hide NSFW” posts active in settings > appearance and NSFW posts still pop up, uncensored and obviously unbidden.

Anyone else having this issue?

Is anyone else seeing the problem at the moment? Feeling like it must be server side.

I’m current browsing on .ml, but the manage accounts function shows me on .world. Additionally, I cannot add another account. When I try, nothing happens.

Also, cannot activate push notifications on . World.

This is on the App Store version btw.

I just started using Memmy and it’s quite nice. However, in the “Manage Accounts” page, the “edit account” and “Add” buttons seem to do nothing. Are these features for a later version, or am I doing something wrong?

I have navigated image posts with the Appearance\Content\Images Ignore Screen Height setting both On and Off and I cannot determine what this does.

Can anyone help me out and explain what this setting is meant to do?

I’m not sure about other users, but I really enjoyed the original logo for the app being the lemming. Is it possible you could include it as an option in a future update?

Hi, I run c/chatgpt and I wanted to suggest the feature of being able to mod communities in this app or some form of mod tools.

Whenever someone replies to one of my (witty, always genius) comments their comment stays "unread" in the notifications/inbix tab, with a red dot on the bell in the bottom left of the main UI.

I think they only get marked as read if someone else replies to them or if I go into lemmy in my browser to Mark As Read.

I was thinking about being able to set your default post order independently between the 3 different communities - "All", "Subscribed" & "Local".

I've found in the bigger communities like All and Subbed, I like sorting by "Top 12hrs or Top day" but in my smaller local community, that means it shows me less than 10 posts. I'm always finding myself having to switch between different sorts as I move through the 3

When I go to edit any post since the lates App Store update, it doesn’t take.

I notice this in my last comment I made, saw the typo for gdk went to fix it and it doesn’t fix it.

Hello, I have to say memmy is far superior to the official interface. Brilliant thanks for making it.

Maybe I would suggest getting rid of the 3 button layout and reducing it to 2 if possible. Right top seems way too full.

Especially the 3 dots show only 1 option. So the last 2 can be imho merged.

For the longest time I was wondering what this icon is about. It seems kind of redundant because posts that I read before are already greyed out. Does the icon serve another purpose because I feel like it clutters the interface. Could we get rid of it?

This is something that came to Apollo more recently before it’s untimely demise but I think it’s useful to see what’s changed since we last saw the post, especially for those where a hot topic is involved.
