Memmy - An iOS client for Lemmy

Sorry if this has already been reported. I keep trying to block lemmygrad.ml and it doesn’t save, whenever the app restarts or a new post from that instance shows up it’s removed from the filter list. Is this broken for anyone else?

I’m sorry if these are known issues, but I cant tell because of these issues. I can’t sort this sub in a way that helps.

I like to sort by new, but as of today I only see Top, Hot, Active, Most Comments, Most Comments (yes twice), New Comments, and Old. I want to sort the community by ‘new posts’, not new comments, but that’s no longer an option at all. Also, if I try to reload a few times, it crashes the app.

Not being able to sort by New Posts is pretty bad, and I’m hoping this wasn’t a design change (I assume it wasn’t, but since I can’t sort without the app crashing, I can’t tell what’s happening).

As said in title, when I press a comment that replied to mine, sometimes I am taken to the top of the post but I have to scroll through to get to that comment.

I'd like to get to the exact comment that I got the notification for when I press it, so that I can vote or reply to it instead of searching the whole thread.

Not really using the “down caret” button that appeared in the latest build. And I’m finding it’s covering up other parts of the UI like the upvote/downvote button in the last comment of a thread. Is there any way to disable it? I didn’t see it in settings, but I might have missed it. Thanks!

this would help by a mile the moderation work on small communities, and it would also help users with visibility. many small and local communities don’t get enough exposure to make it on the (yet poor) standard Lemmy sorting algorithm

Theme defaults to dark mode 24/7 even though I've set both options up and toggled the match system button.

I saw an earlier similar post but my case isn't fixable by toggling the button on and off.

I’ve got a bug that I haven’t been able to pin down. Set the default feed to subscriptions but sometimes upon launch (after killing the app) it is set to all. I haven’t been able to figure out what is causing it as it seems random. Has anyone else noticed this?

Hey, been using Memmy since the app store release and I’ve been enjoying it quite a bit.

I was wondering though: is a left-handed mode planned?

I know I can swipe to vote but there are times that I’d like to use the buttons but they’re across the screen. Same with the next comment button.

Haven’t seen it mentioned, but they’re not working for me anymore.

On the current TestFlight build Memmy defaults to All every time the app is refreshed when Subscribed is selected in the settings

For some reason my inbox items keep showing replies to my earlier posts as unread even though I’ve read them (and even clicked on them to go back to the actual comments). As a result, I have the little red dot on the Inbox icon. Am I doing something wrong?

I would like to ask if it possible to have Face ID lock and the show the display name.

So not the name you made when making an account but the second one, to show. Currently (at least for me), it shows the account name instead of display name.

Would also like to ask is there any way to donate a few bucks to you? This app has been insanely good and I’m assuming, you’re making this in your free time without anything in return.

Love using this feature on Apollo, and love that it’s added here!

It’s really hard to keep track of complex discussion threads, though, because all comments have the same blue colour bar to the left. It was very nice in Apollo where the comment bars were a repeating rainbow.

It wasn’t just aesthetically pleasing, it made it much easier to jump around in a conversation with lots of comments, because we could scroll back up and collapse all the same colour (level) of comments and reply to the appropriate one.

That’s currently very difficult with Memmy due to all comments being coloured the same.

When long pressing on a link in “All” or “Subscribed” view, the contextual menu that appears should probably show options for the link if possible. Currently it shows things like “share post”.

If the user wants to add the link to a service like “read it later”, you have to first open the post, then click the link, and then use the share button in the web view.

Not sure if it’s possible to change the behavior, but figure it was worth asking. Thanks for your time.

Will Memmy eventually be compatible with Kbin?

I really like the fullscreen swipe right to go back so I disabled gestures. It seems like there's now no way to vote on comments or am I missing something?

I’m not sure if my feedback in my last post made a huge difference, but thank you for implementing stuff like the small red dot for inbox and changing things up. I like the new inbox icon a lot, and thank you for the setting to toggle off the username. Just updated to the latest build and the avatar in the tab bar looks great!

Thanks for the awesome update just now. I’m sorry, I haven’t gotten around to figuring out how to use GitHub. I hope this will get seen.

When not using the system font size, some parts are rendered in an odd size compared to before.

Also, I can’t find the sort by new option anymore.

Also, long post titles are making the compact view less compact (maybe due to the font issue).

On an unrelated note, my .world account still cannot enable notifications but my other ones can. It just hangs on the spinning progress wheel. I am not sure how to go about fixing it anymore.

I really appreciate all you have done. Also, there was no reason to apologise for taking a hiatus. This should be a project of passion not a job.

I hope I have not come across as demanding. I am loving what you guys are doing.

#Lemmy client update: if you are looking for an Apollo-like experience, #Memmy @memmy is currently the best client out there.

I can even forget its built in React Native. 🥲 Great job!
