Lemmy links (lemmy.world)
submitted 2 years ago by kemsat@lemmy.world to c/memmy@lemmy.ml

Is opening lemmy links within the app, instead of opening it in a browser, planned?

Hey everyone,

So far I’m really enjoying the app. The additional automatic theming options are really nice.

I noticed, that the text body of a thread while scrolling to the feed is sometimes too light for me while using the light theme or I would like to have more contrast.

So I would ask for a light theme with more contrast or maybe the normal light theme should at least get a little bit more contrast.

I posted a while ago about difficulty reading links in Memmy because the blue used is too light against a light background.

That still stands but also I’ve noticed links are underlined. I think from a readability perspective it would be better to remove the underlining from links. I know that was the standard back in 1998 but these days I don’t think underlining links is really necessary.

I know it sounds like a small thing but I’m honestly struggling to read links (other text at the size I have set is fine).

My eyesight’s not too bad so I can imagine others are also struggling.

I know this probably isn’t top of the priority list but I really hope it’s considered.

Hey there. This app has really blossomed in a short time, and made my experience with Lemmy fantastic. I can’t seem to view my own profile, though, and I’m not sure if it’s because of which instance I use (old Lemmy version, maybe?) or if I just need to wait for a new app version. I’m on lemmy.one

Hi. This is about posts, not comments.

Sometimes I try to click on the upvote icon that’s there only to display the number, not to actually use as a button, then I realize. I think it’s a bit redundant to have it displayed twice.

My suggestion is to put the number next to the button on the right and remove entirely from the left.

Reddit refugee here and loving Memmy so far! I’ve had a few questions though:

  1. is there a way to hide posts that were marked as read previously?
  2. is there a way to say that when a link opens to enable reader mode in Safari?
  3. is there any way to share just a picture without sending the full link to the post?

Thanks!

That is all I’ve got to say.

Sometimes I find myself looking at a community and wondering what other communities that instance has. Right now it’s not super easy to check that. This is specially interesting when looking at regional instances like feddit.de or lemmy.eco.br.

Obviously you could just go to the instance URL and look at the communities there, but I think a feature that allowed you to see all the communities in that instance straight from the app would be good. Being able to sort by active users, subscribed users, etc would be a plus.

Hey everyone! Gavin and I are looking to hire an icon designer for the app. If anyone has experience and is interested please reach out to me (Sean) in the Discord! We’ve reached out to a few professional designers but haven’t had luck so far.

When I am trying to post a comment, often times I will get this JSON error “unexpected token <”. I wonder if the call is erroring out on the server side and you’re getting an HTML error page back?

Odd thing is that 9 times out of 10, when this happens, the comment will still post. Until i discovered this, I was repeatedly hitting “submit” (since after the error you get sent right back to the comment edit dialog) and repeatedly posting! Now I can identify Memmy users by their repeat comments 😅

Is this a known issue?

I’m on lemmy.world and so it might happen more frequently for me as their servers have been going through some stuff lately…

BUG: Paragraphs in comments are not displayed correctly.

Some posts that are just a link to an article have no link. For example, this post has a link to an article which doesn‘t show up in Memmy.

I have this issue with all of the apps I'm trying out—Memmy, Mlem, and wefwef—so obviously this is a "me" issue or a "lemmy" issue. I can't figure out how to set my language in Lemmy though. I've set my profile languages to "Undetermined" and "English" and I've turned on all languages on my server.

However, when I post directly from my server's primary interface, I do always need to manually select the language.

Does anyone have any idea to what I'm doing wrong? I'd love to get this fixed, and hopefully it'll help anyone else having a similar problem. If there's just a doc somewhere I missed, I'd love the link please.

Hello! I haven’t been seeming to receive push notifications. Has anyone else been having issues receiving them? I tried toggling off and back on and also tried changing my password to see if generating a new token might help, but no change I’m afraid.

I’d love to be able to search through posts to see if someone else has already posted something similar.

Using Kbin (self.memmy)

I am attempting to login to a kbin account on kbin.social and it simply isn't working at all. Any tips or tricks? It would be a bummer if this app only worked with lemmy instances.

In Apollo, there was this really interesting feature that let you disable the gestures for voting/replying/etc. If you did so, then you could use the entire screen to navigate between posts instead of needing to swipe all the way from the side.

I struggle with a repetitive stress injury and this feature helped me a lot! I managed to grab a screenshot of the exact setting before Apollo shut down. It would be awesome if something similar could be implemented in Memmy

Is this affecting anyone else?

First of all thanks to the dev, this app is already fully functional and replaced Reddit for me on my phone.

It would be nice to implement in addition to the current dark mode, a full black amoled mode, and maybe a way for us to choose the accent color of the app? Like gor everything that is currently in the light blue color!

I’m sure others have recommended this, but I’d love to see a comment jump button added as a feature at some point. Having options for the location of the jump button would be great too.

Also, keep up the great work! Memmy made it to the dock of my Home Screen. Every update has made this app so much more functional!
