Before anyone gets angry: they've actually been available since the 19th of November, but I only just found out about them. I'm probably just uniquely un-looped-in with the news and goings on, but I thought I'd share for anybody else who missed it

I just got an email from my local library (western suburbs) they they will open extended hours today and tomorrow for people to use during the heatwave. Might be an option for anyone needing a quiet, cool, inexpensive option

Participating councils (Vic):
Baw Baw
Casey
Cardinia
Greater Dandenong
Knox
Manningham
Maribyrnong
Monash
Merri-bek
Mornington
Yarra Ranges

The prices vary by council. They also ship to the rest of Vic and AU, but the prices aren't subsidised, just slightly discounted (no idea if the non-member location pricing is actually competitive with Bunnings, etc, or not. This isn't my area of expertise)

Shipping is covered if your council offers a discount. Shipping costs extra elsewhere, so most likely not worth it. They also seem to offer free pickup from Langwarrin.

Emoji inspiration: I call this part of the year (the time between Boxing Day and New Year's Day) the "never-never times" because some things are open, others are closed, some people are working, a lot not, so fuck all gets done, and if you need anything besides food or groceries, you're basically SOL

Happy International Day of Epidemic Preparedness!
