I have a keychron v3 (official docs which of course I have looked through) keyboard with a knob. I would like to upgrade the firmware so I can map the knob.

I am using VIA v 3.0.0 AppImage on Manjaro linux. I did the udev thing and it seems to pretty much work.

The factory reset instructions on the keychron website only explain Mac/Windows and I don't know how to transfer them to Linux. Actually I am not sure if this is even the required procedure to upgrade the firmware but it's the closet I can find.

What if I use the hardware reset without the software running on the computer?

Any other tips for mapping this keyboard with linux... I am having a hard time generally as it is apparently undocumented. I can't access their facebook group.

Using waveshare RP2040-Zeros and a mix of wooting lekker and ks-20 switches.

I'm picking one up secondhand after typing on one at a meet, and I'm curious how people feel about all the foam. Did you like it with the case foam, plate foam, PE foam, all, none? I'm getting the meme aluminum plate and planning on using light linear switches.

Hello friends. I am new to the mechanical keyboard world. I purchased my first, a Keychron K5 Pro. I love it. Feels great, works great, sounds great. I would like to replace a handful of the keycaps however, trying to just customize a bit.

So my issue: I can't figure out what to buy. The K5 came with "Low-profile Double-shot PBT Keycaps". They measure about 4mm in height (just the keycaps). I'm looking for a handful of 1U caps, either in some fun colors or with random art printed on them. I am not opposed to getting a full set of keys if they are priced right.

From what I am reading in random places, XDA or DSA profile caps are CLOSE to what I have in size and shape. Can anyone guide me here? Maybe suggest a specific seller or a better search term than "Low Profile PBT Keycaps"? I seem to be finding a lot in other profiles (I get it, I purchased a kind of specific keyboard type), but not a ton of caps that seem to be correct for me.

Please help! Thanks in advance homies.

I'm looking for a lighter companion to the Clickiez 40g (which actually has ~75-80gf peak force). The Clickiez and the Box Navies are the only MX-compatible switches whose tactility I've really found sufficient before, but I'm willing to sacrifice a little tactility to get a lighter switch for some special keys. What's the best I can do out there for a slightly lighter switch with good (some would say 'extreme') tactile feedback? (Clicky switches are fine if they provide better tactility, as they generally do.)

I've spent a lot of time looking at reviews, force graphs, and have even ordered some switches to try (yet to arrive). But I'm exhausted and ready for some human recommendations to help settle the question.

Any advice?

For the past 5 years or so I've been using an HHKB and I've grown to love its layout. The (smaller) Delete, ~ and \ key placements is something I enjoy. The ~ key is used a lot in my native language and this placement is much more ergonomic for me.

I've been out of the keyboard scene ever since I got the HHKB and I've been considering building a new board to try whatever new switches have come out since then.

Not looking to create a PCB myself, would rather use something that already exists and preferably doesn't require any soldering. 65%-ish with arrow keys would be my preferred form factor.

Anything like that in the market? Thanks!

Designed and 3d printed my own custom case for the K8 Pro, since I thought it was too tall and I didn't want a wrist rest.

Received my Susu set and have to say I'm enamored with it, there's just something about the satin feel and the way it cups your fingertips is just so right - I have a tendency to lightly feather the home row in between typing/composing text and best I can put it: gentle gliding vs. skidding compared to GMK/DMK CYL. Photos posted online seems to really highlight the grains and it was my main concern as I have the original pbt MT3 /dev/tty and really disliked the gritty texture not to mention the height, but once I opened the box and ran my fingers over the Enter key I was sold. Also being thockier and deeper sounding on the down stroke is a plus. Did lose about 3-5 wpm testing on monkeytpe but it's to be expected as I'm a long time GMK CYL user so I expect a few days to get back to speed. Very pleased over all but slightly dreading rebuying some of the CYL coloways I really liked once designers start releasing their MTNU versions.

You definitely have a winner Matt3o, thanks!

And for people who goes: "ewww GMK...abs yuck" - No, it's pbt.

I would like to build my first keyboard, but I feel like the DIY-kits available don't let you get your hands on the keyboard enough. For instance, I looked into the M1W barebone as it checks all the criteria I have (I would prefer a 75% board, with a knob, and wireless option), except the only thing left to do is to plug-in the switches and put on the keycaps.

For example, the Zoom 75 is something I feel would suit me, but it's 200$, not counting the 60$ shipping, and it's "only" the board, so I need to buy the switches and the keycaps as well.

I saw the "Practice 75" board, which is nice, but for example there isn't the knob and I would need to solder the switches to the board.

Is there a board out there that would ticks all the boxes ?

Thank you in advance for your answers !

Fixing keyboard (sopuli.xyz)

I built my first keyboard a few years ago. Love it. Though my cat knocked a drink over into it a year or so ago and i was too upset to see what did and didn’t work. Today I found the keyboard and decided to see if it works! Well it seems the space bar and H key are effed. I think the 3 keys on the right are also busted but I forget what they do lol. They don’t trigger anything on the keyboard tester.

I hoped that I could just hot swap some switches and be good but it seems H and space and whatever is on my bottom right corner do not work no matter the switch. I imagine that means the board is bad? Prob no fixing? At least it seems I can just swap the board and should be good to go. Thought I’d ask for tips..

My partner loves her GMK67 with outemu panda switches I built for her a while ago. Now that she has to go in the office she constantly complains how shitty the keyboards are.

What would you recommend for a low profile portable keyboard to give a similar experience the GMK67/Panda that is safe to throw in a backpack, but also a bit quieter for an office setting?

I was looking at the Nuphy Air60 since it has a case option, but I don't know what switch would be good, maybe Wisteria or Moss?

Also looked at the Keychron, but from the switch descriptions only the Mint and Banana sounded close to a switch I would want, but nothing is currently in stock in a 60% layout.

Am I looking in the right direction, or are there other recommendations?

Hey, I have seen this keyboard pretty cheaply on local Polish stores and it seems to have decent reviews for the price, anyone has any experience with it or other Redragon keyboards? Side note: Anyone knows if it has a controller compatible with this firmware? https://github.com/SonixQMK/qmk_firmware

I am going to build probably a few keyboards (like 3) for people to gift to. Since 100% PCB is not as popular as ergo boards, Im having a hard time finding any.

Do you have any 100% PCB (aliexpress or gerbers for printing in a PCB service like jlcpcb) that you prefer?

My goal is to make it as cheap as possible.

Also i put a layer of paper between the transparent plate and the blue-ish gray silicon layer to give it a brighter look.

Hi all,

I'm hoping for some troubleshooting tips. I have a self-build split keyboard using Blackpills.

If I flash either side with 'SPLIT_KEYBOARD = no' in my rules.mk, then both sides work fine (but both working as the left side). If however I set 'SPLIT_KEYBOARD = yes', then both sides stop working.

It's driving me insane!

These are the relevant details of rules.mk:

MCU = STM32F401
BOOTLOADER = stm32-dfu
SPLIT_KEYBOARD = yes
SERIAL_DRIVER = usart

And config.h:

#pragma once
#define HAL_USE_SERIAL TRUE
#define SOFT_SERIAL_PIN A12
#define MASTER_LEFT
#define MATRIX_ROWS 6
#define MATRIX_COLS 6
#define SERIAL_USART_DRIVER SD1
#define SERIAL_USART_TX_PAL_MODE 7

And halconf.h:

#pragma once
#define SERIAL_USB_BUFFERS_SIZE 256
#include_next

And mcuconf.h:

#pragma once
#include_next
#undef STM32_SERIAL_USE_USART1
#define STM32_SERIAL_USE_USART1 TRUE

Please help! I've been at this for two days.
