This was my first build but it's the one I like best!
Keeb.io Iris Rev6 Hotswap
Acrylic plates (white + frosted middle)
KAT Milkshake Weirdos keycaps
Kailh Box Whites

Bought and built the kit from keebd.com

  • Cherry brown switches
  • Helios rp2040 controller
  • Temporarily using caps from my Keychton K6 (unfortunately the profile makes it a little weird looking) while waiting for new ones to arrive.

I have a CM MK750 at home which I love and recommend to my friends, however I'm spending more and more time outside the house and now I'm looking for something to take on the go. Does anyone have recommendations?

Normally I'd go to the subreddit wiki, it might be a good idea to start something similar here

I love custom mechanical keyboards but is the wider community limiting itself by only sticking to MX switches? I know there are projects out there for custom topre, space invader, and alps. But with all the research the community has done, why hasn't something truly unique come to market yet?

Using and reviving old switches is great but is there anyone working on making a new switch that isn't affiliated with a large manufacturer like gateron or kailh?

I’ve seen these mentioned in a few places as a promising new budget option, but there’s very little commentary on them. They come in linear and tactile varieties with different spring weights available. Is the factory lube decent?

The price seems hard to beat - and as an 1800-layout user, the price for ~100 switches can add up fast!

Came in a couple weeks ago, but finally got to build it over the weekend. My camera is a little deceiving as the grey is much darker in person.

I have a work laptop and a personal desktop. I usually use my PC to listen to music or have youtube on in the background while I work. I currently use a Keychron K2. I leave my K2 plugged into my desktop for charging, but will have it connected via bluetooth to my work laptop. That way, I can just use the BT/off/Cable switch on the side to switch between the two.

I've been doing a lot of research and I want to build the Corne.

Can the nice!nano do that? Or another controller? Could I just power both halves via a wall wart and BT into both machines?

do they only affect the individual keycaps or the profile of the whole board? like let's say oem are sharp and XDA are rounded, but is there a difference between the height of the rows?

Planck, Holy Panda's and Canvas in a maple case. I need to get a new cable.

My first lemmy post. :)

Redox keyboard I got from falba.tech (I wonder if they have a lemmy account yet, used to have one on reddit). 67g Tangerines for that linear bliss.

I'm creating an open hardware mouse that actually fits me! It's still not open and it's got way, WAY too much work ahead (design the PCB(s), design switch mounts in the model, add mouse support to ZMK, re-design the PCB cause I fucked up, make the top out of CNCed wood and the bottom out of milky transparent 3D printed resin)

Its the most I've spent on a keyboard (Yes I know others consider it "budget") and I've finally got my switches and caps ready and I'm just excited to get going.

I've been wanting to try an ergo split keyboard but there are so many options.

The 3 I checked are Kinesis 360 (https://kinesis-ergo.com/keyboards/advantage360/), Glove80 (https://www.moergo.com/collections/glove80-keyboards) and the Moonlander (https://www.zsa.io/moonlander/).

These below are what I got from watching reviews:

  • Kinesis is difficult to customize and sometimes has connectivity issues
  • Glove80 feels cheap
  • Moonlander doesn't have many keys

Considering the prices, the moonlander is about US$100 cheaper than the others, so feels like a better option.

I am interested in options with keywell, as they feel way more comfortable, but anything will be better since I use a usual non-split keyboard.

What are your opinions/suggestions/experience with these types of keyboards?

Looking for a Bluetooth mech to use with my media center on the couch. What are some of your favorites? I'm looking at the AnnePro 2.

Keychron Q1 Pro (taped, foamed), Tecsee Coral switches (two-stage spring, lubed, filmed), ACGAM Gradient Side Engraved OEM Profile Keycap Set.

I found this nice piece of wood in the scrap pile. I think it's red oak but can't be positive. profiled it and performed a super sketchy cut on the table saw to give it a nice even bevel.

I could clean it but it would just get dirty again.

I've wanted to buy a mechanical keyboard for a while, this is one that I can afford and don't have to pay for international shipping. I wonder if is any good or if you might recomend this brand.

It just looks so classic and clean.

This is such a good looking set with it's novelties and it gave me a good excuse to break out my Devastating TKL from CannonKeys with the TealiosV2 switches in it

Hi there. There's a group on reddit that hasn't made it very clear about moving to Lemmy. I wanted to start a new community for r/ErgoMechKeyboards, and wanted to share here. I posted my own keyboard for the first time on this community. Cheers!
