Been my daily since April of 22, GMMK Pro with kbdfans PGA WOB and Kailh deep sea silent linear switches. Used some 3m mount tape to stick some am4 cooler brackets on the back since they were what I had that would set the board at 15° where I like it.

Got what will hopefully be my new daily in the mail, if I can adjust to hhkb. Some days I still miss having a numpad lol.

So I want to try out using an ANSI layout. I've been using ISO all my life but there just are so few keycaps supporting ISO... I was thinking of getting a Ducky One 3 Yellow SF and putting Kalih Box Navy Switches in it and combining that with a Akko Black & Bronze ASA keycap set. I initially wanted to get the Akko Starry Night keycaps but they are no longer available locally to me. What do you think about that? Is the ducky a good choice? I like how compact it is and yet it has arrow keys.

Was a year and a half since I built this one but it's been my daily driver since.

  • GMMK Pro
  • White keycaps are a GMMK set
  • Teal keycaps are Tai-Hao Mykonos
  • Most switches are Gazzew Boba U4
  • Durock stabs
  • FR4 Plate by AVX Works
  • Cable from cablemod

Still have to get the extras kit for Minimal to get the proper space and sized LShift key, then she shall be complete.

I've had a cooler master keyboard with cherry mx browns (my first mech) for a few years but looking for a change.

For me, it's KAT Cyberspace.

Looked absolutely stunning on the renders, but once received it's a big piece of shit.

Runner-up is SA Espresso. The gradients just doesn't flow well in person.

  • Zoom65 EE with case and PCB foam
  • GMK WoB
  • AEBoards Naevies V2 stock

This is my sixth keyboard (fourth custom). The experience has been extremely good considering the mostly stock setup.

Though I am going to stick with this for a while, I do know my next will be a split ergo. Do share your suggestions for a wireless split ergo.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I am looking for a goldilocks tactile switch it seems. I want a tactile switch with the tactility of a Zealios v2, with the sound of a Gazzew U4T.

I love the P-shaped bump that Zealios v2s provide, and it helps me with my typing accuracy, however I prefer the sound profile that the Gazzew U4Ts have.

People swear that U4Ts are extremely tactile, but I just don't feel it. I think that it's in part due to the fact that the tactile event is more rounded ("D" shaped), or that the event occurs over a longer travel distance coupled with the reduced travel of the long stem. That being said, I love how the U4Ts sound and would love to find a switch that feels like a Zealios v2 but sounds closer to a U4T.

Open to any and all suggestions, thanks!

I recently bought this mechanical keyboard from Aliexpress, Aigo A68 (~46 USD). I did a more in depth review in my blog with more pictures. https://0x00.cl/blog/2023/mechanical-keyboard/

I'm in the UK so I would like to have a keyboard that has the at-symbol and inverted-commas in the correct places for my fingers. The Keychron Qn Pros all come with keycaps that have the ats and inverted-commas the "wrong way round" for me so I was wondering if I buy a Q2 Pro and a set of keycaps, will I be able to put on the keycaps that I want and remap the two keys using Via so that they send the correct characters?

I change out my switches frequently, and I’m looking for a tool that’s better than the free ones I’ve received over the years. Something that is robust, less likely to bend or break, is comfortable to use, and does a good job. Extra points if it’s cool looking, or comes in orange.

Okay, it took a good amount of learning, but I've figured out how to get most of what I want with a custom keyboard build.

Here's my goals:

  1. Ergonomic
  2. Quiet
  3. Dvorak
  4. But a normal person can still use it
  5. Cheapish because I'm a cheap bastard

With those in mind, here's what I've finally settled on:

Board:
YMDK - Split 75% 84 Acrylic Kit

Keycaps:
YMDK - 9009 Retro 143 - Blank

Switches:
Haimu x Geon HG Red Silent Linear Switches A.K.A Haimu Heartbeat

See photos at the bottom of the post.

My plan is to take the switches to a fab-lab with a laser engraver and engrave the labels on the side of each keycap. Since the DSA profile is the same for every button, and I'll have extras, I'll have more than a few chances to get my laser settings correct.

By labeling the keycaps myself I can put the QWERTY label on the front side and the Dvorak label on the left or right side. By using this split design, I can combine the two halves to give people a totally regular looking keyboard that functions just as they expect.

Total cost including machine time: $182

What do you think? Do you think there's room for improvement?

I'm looking for a more ergo keyboard and am looking at the Keychron Q10 (Alice) or Q11 (split), but I'm leaning more towards to the Q11:

  • Extra rotary encoder in the top-right
  • Don't need an extra "B" key
  • 2 extra keys to the right of the right spacebar

I bought a keychron k6 recently and while the keyboard is amazing, I am feeling pain on my wrist. What's a 65% wrist rest I can buy? I used to have an ASUS ROG Scope TKL one for my previous keyboard but it the "leather" started falling off and I had to get rid of it. I don't really mind the material as long as it's not wood.

This is a modded Keychron K6 that I've been carrying on the bus every day to work. I swapped out the stock reds for some Boba u4 silent switches, and also swapped out the stabilizers for Durok v2s. I also did an o-ring burger mount to give it a little bit of a softer feel. Keycaps are cherry charcoal from novelkeys.

I've tried jtk sliders and kbdfans sliders without success. Have their issues been fixed? Especially regarding switches bigger than 1u

I noticed these sliders on aliexpress and would like to know if anybody has had experiences with them. Novatouch sliders are out of my price range.

I have been using a cheap TKL AliExpress hot swap board for a little while, and I want to upgrade because:

  1. I miss the numpad
  2. Build quality is better than the average membrane keyboard, but still not great

I'm planning to get the keychron V6 because it is is one of the few keyboards that are:

  1. Not ultra expensive
  2. Full size
  3. Has a knob for volume control
  4. Reasonable build quality
  5. Hot swap
  6. QMK/VIA support is nice

The only issue is that I am not sure what switches and keycaps to get. I was considering saving my money and going with stock switches (keychron k pro reds) and keycaps (in-house "OSA" profile), but I do not know if I will like this keycap profile. My current board has OEM profile keycaps, and those are fine, but I want to try more "spherical" rather than "cylindrical" profiles, and it doesn't seem like the stock keychron keycaps are particularly spherical, at least in photos. If they are more spherical in person, I might go this route.

My other plan I was considering was to try keychron's other in-house profile, "KSA", which seems more spherical to me (https://www.keychron.com/products/double-shot-ksa-pbt-keycap-full-keycap-set), or maybe a mt3 set (but I'm not sure about getting an abs set, my current keycaps are getting shiny). For switches, I was thinking of buying the tried-and-true gateron milky yellows, but I am not sure if there are better bang for the buck options out there for smooth linear switches.

TL;DR: Should I go with stock switches and keycaps to start out? Or should I get the bare bones keychron V6, a spherical keycap set (KSA or mt3), and budget linears like gateron milky yellows?
