I've only modded two keyboards before and I don't really use either of them often since one is 60% and the other is 70%. My previous main keyboard was breaking up so I finally took the plunge and built a new one instead

  • Keychron V6
  • Gateron Baby Kangaroo Tactile Switch
  • Tecware Pudding Keycaps
  • Foam from the V6 packaging
  • Masking Tape from a local shop
  • Broken dip switch
  • Vial attempted

Does anyone know where, or even if, I can acquire replacement Lightstrike Optical Switches?

I've scoured the internet, and any search that contains lightstrike basically either takes me directly back to Bloody's website, or to Bloody's whole keyboard products in general, with no source on the switches themselves.

I've tried to contact Bloody themselves, to see if I can just buy the switches from them, since.. while my keyboard is made by them, it was made for another company, and its many years old at this point, so I don't expect anything like warranty. . Unfortunately every time i've tried to contact them, their website shits itself and doesnt allow me to send any message or ask any questions.

They are not electrical switches like pretty much everything else. The emitter and receiver are mounted to the keyboard, and the "switches" are just interrupts to that. so I cant just drop a something like a Cherry Green in or anything.

I've got one broken switch, that I moved to a key I dont use, but its got me worried for the future of my favorite keyboard, and I desperately want to find a source of replacement switches somewhere without having to by a whole Bloody keyboard (pun intended:p) .. Which is why I turn to you fine Gentlepeople here, as my last hope.

Do any of you know of any place to purchase these switches?

So, I've been using some Vertex V One's, and they sound marbles and creamy and I'm very much enjoying them.

I just got a sample pack of 27 switches, and none of them sound nearly as good imo. After doing some research, it seems they bottom out a bit differently

https://unikeyboards.com/products/vertex-v1-switch?variant=44931598451006

The V1 switch's stem is round-headed, and its bottom-out style is the stem head bottoming out instead of the stem sides bottoming out. This gives the switch a concentrated sound profile.

I'm trying to find other switches that bottom out similarly, and hopefully have options around 65-67G

As the title says, I was wondering if there's any concerns regarding the battery life or fire hazard if I cover the battery with foam? Should I cut the foam to fit around the battery? I've seen people do both online.

I have some denser, rubber like foam as well as a more fluffy one, looking for deeper sound. TIA!

so i bought my first case+pcb+keycaps only needing some nice switches i have a switch tester and decided i want to go with some nice red/linear switches. As i am on a budget i am looking at some kailh and gateron and OUTEMU switches.

I noticed that kailh has box switches that they claim are dust proof/resistant and OUTEMU has water/dustproof ip56 switches. I cant find gaterons dust/water resistant switches. Now my question is: does this matter? like are normal switches likely to fail due to dust and is going with water proof switches going to mean i can spill my drinks on my keyboard? If not is there some gasket or so that does make this last thing possible?

Thanks for making this clear to me.

Hi all, I'm looking for a keyboard for travel that will be quiet enough not to bother folks on a train. Ideally I'd like a mechanical keyboard, but I'm curious what experiences folks have with low-profile switches in a quiet environment. My current daily driver (silent switches, a fair bit of foam and lube, etcetc) is what I would consider office-quiet, but you can definitely hear when I get going and I feel like it'd be a little rude on a leisure train trip.

Right now I'm looking at the nuphy and keychron low-profile keyboards, but I'm open to other options. Currently for travel I use a foldable membrane keyboard so just about anything would be an upgrade.

Does anyone have experience with low-profile keyboards? Are there silent options? Thanks in advance for your help!

Edit: realize I should have specified that I prefer 65 and 60-key layouts for portability.

I recently put together a keyboard, and it was my first time doing more than just adding switches any keycaps. I followed this diagram, and wasn't sure if some of these "layers" were interchangeable, or if you are supposed to use all of them (I used all of them).

This is the diagram. I'm mainly curious about the "poron switch foam" which goes directly on the PCB before the "poron plate foam".

After adding the poron switch foam it feels like some of my keys with stabs are sticking a bit.

I'm new to really getting into customizing a mech keyboard, I just got the glorious gmmk.

But I don't really know where to go for good key caps. I kind of want see through purple ones but I can't find any in stock anywhere and I've looked through drop but all of the key caps are just not very good looking.

Some 10 years ago I had a Cherry G80-3000 full-size keyboard that I wanted to be a tenkeyless. So I cut the keyboard in two parts and made it work again. Madness, but it worked.

I recently built a keyboard (previously I had only added switches and keycaps), and in the box, I see some standoffs. From what I can tell, these are optional? It seems some people use them and others do not depending on their plate material. Is this true, or are they absolutely needed?

I just finished my Zoom65 V2 with kailh box jades and cheap Amazon caps. The sound is ok but I want something "deeper" and louder from the alpha keys. What do y'all suggest? Pulling out the foam in the bottom of the case and underside of the PCB definitely helped. I've done the tape mod and plan to do the holee mod when I open it up again.

hello wonderful folks, I have a Ducky One 2 SF and recently my Tab and Esc key stopped working. I've taken the keyboard apart (as much apart can be taken without de-soldering the switches) and cleaned it all out. The switch itself works (verified using a multi meter and shorting the pins in the back with a screwdriver) however the signal isn't sent to the computer. I've verified using a keyboard tester website to verify that every other key is registering except these 2. Anyone run into something similar?

If any one wants to create a mechanical keyboard and use the controller board of the logitech k120 , there are some extra keys on the keymap that are not present on the actual keyboard but was present in the matrix , like the shortcut keys and the volume up and down keys , as well as the power and sleep keys.

I'm considering getting a Keychron K8 Pro or Q3 keyboard, but the keycaps don't have backlit letters. Annoyed. Anyone got other recommendations for a bluetooth TKL mechanical keyboard with backlit keys?

Trying to find out how difficult (or not) it will be to switch from iso layout to ansi. Main reason is the much better choice of keycaps that will be available.

Have any of you made the switch ? If so how difficult was it ?
