Not a good news for the original PP. I personally don't use Mobian and I just use megi's kernel, but I understand their concerns.

I'm toying with the idea of trying to get Linux on my Fairphone 3 running. But one thing that was lacking on my Pinephone back then was the lack of a good Signal client. There were one or two available, but they were clunky. I helped out with one or two tickets but I lacked the time to do more and now I lack the energy.

So, is there a viable way to get Signal on a Linux phone? Maybe Waydroid? Or does that suck too much energy?

I own a Pinephone for years now and there is one feature that never did anything but waste battery life and that's the notification LED! It keeps blinking for eternity if it starts once, triggers for no reason from time to time, activates for every little action even if the notification is long gone or disapers the second you try to look at it and is bright enough to light a entire room at night! I looked around online and apparently it's usually linked to some Systemd component but PostmarketOS uses OpenRC, is there any config to easily disable it under all circumstances or something?

Edit: I counted on a feedbackd equivalent but apparently it uses feedbackd too, that just doesn't seem to handle the LED, just notifications and vibration.

Edit 2: I managed to find promising configs in /sys/class/leds but the max_brightness files which seem like the solution to me are read only and I am not sure if I can safely bypass that or if I will break something and I have no clue if it will even help.

Edit 3: There is also a file called "repeat" in there and I can set that to 1 which reduces the blinking to a single time but the system keeps overwriting it so I don't think that's going to be a solution.

Playing on the same device (PinePhone Pro that runs ArchLinux), but this time I connected it to a Samsung Dex Station and an external monitor.

Love this sequel. Cool graphics, great soundtrack, interesting gameplay, fun co-op. I also like the difficulty of the game: it's not super easy, but could be finished after a few attempts for casual player like me. They improved boss fights a lot, now all bosses feel more unique. Also I like bonus level much more because in the first game I just always reach to 1UP in the center cargo in the first row.

Took me 3 attempts. The most hated level for me is the Clock Tower. It's big and there's only one checkpoint. Spent many continue here. But the boss is very simple and soundtrack is the best. The part with trolleys (in West world) was also very difficult at first, until I realized that you can launch the trolley once and just stand in behind. My favorite level is the first one. Probably because of nostalgic memories :) The hardest boss in my opinion is the second one (!). But it also have the coolest boss fight soundtrack (I started to see a pattern here).

I never completed this game as a child. Not a long time ago, I completed it on RG280V (a retro-handheld, visible in the photo on the right!), but I used save states. But since I now play more from a phone that has Internet access, I started using the retroachievements service and if you play in hardcode mode, the achievements have a special frame. This made me want to try to play it like this and I enjoy this experience even more! Here is my profile, but you need to be registered to see it.

Now about the dock experience. I recently started using Phosh and I like how it handle docking. When I connect mouse and monitor, it detects it and makes windows like on desktop (with buttons and draggable). But apparently there is something wrong with the implementation of the docking support in the kernel itself, because after several connections/disconnections from dock it stops seeing USB until the next reboot. The resolution is a bit high for PPP, so after long gaming sessions I started to experience rare hiccups here and there, but it's playable. The station have built-in fans, but looks like they work only with custom Samsung software :( I wish they make a dumber mechanism with a toggle button.

What games are you playing right now and how?

Dual booting Droidian and AOSP Vanilla ROM on spes

Tried #Phosh on @droidian@fosstodon.org, not disappointing at all! Will be daily driving it, but will have Android as backup (hope so don't need it).
Using bootctl to change slots

I really like the idea of having a physical keyboard on my phone. I'm looking at the pinephone with the keyboard module and it looks pretty cool.

Basically a small touch display with optional camera and motion sensor.

I wonder if this could be used to DIY a Linux phone with a small well supported ARM SBC and a 4G USB dongle on a belt clip or so? ~~Wireless display transfer seems to be supported~~ or could be probably done with a USB-C cable as well? 🤔 Edit: Display probably needs a cable, but you could use the build in wifi + bt via that cable, so the SBC wouldn't need their own?

I've been using my OnePlus 6t since launch and love it, but I am very interested in Linux phones now. I've been an early adopter before, but it's finally getting where I think I need it to be to try. I pretty much only do basic phone functions and emulation. Would a Pinephone Pro have the power to run something like a Wii or 3ds game? What about an older ported game like STALKER? Curious just how much it could do

It's basically a nice USB-hub with HDMI, 2x USB-A, Type-C and Ethernet.

Built-in fan doesn't work, but wasn't the point of buying it.

Bought used for about 30$. In my country many people usually use it for a few time and then sell it.

It's Plasma Mobile.

The phone is actually a nice handheld, can play up to PSP and Dreamcast. But heavy games require disabling buffer effects and frame skip.

Love this game!

Playing on PinePhone Pro (I use Arch, btw) with Backbone One.

Using RetroAchievements with hardcode mode enabled (i.e. no save states). It's sad that it's impossible to share profile.

The last part of the level before the last boss is harder the the boss itself. Spent more lives at this part than in the entire game :)

Hi. I'm trying to open my kdbx database from NC in UT. I added my NC account to the system. I can also open my NC via GhostCloud, but Keepass refuses to open the file. Can integrate the NC folder into the system like in desktop Linux?

Hello, I am looking for the optimum phone to install Ubuntutouch on, and I particularly want optimum battery life and, of course, a great camera. Which phone would you recommend I am looking at Xiaomi Poco x3 or M3 otherwise they are big for me. I currently have a Pixel 6 and Grapheneos but I would like a Linux UT in the past I also had Xperia 10 and Sailfish os. What would you recommend for everyday use with a good camera?

Playing on my PinePhone Pro on ArchLinux using Backbone One controller. Some missions are super hard because the game does not have any aim heper for gamepads. The game runs mostly smooth, but sometimes I experience small yet noticeable FPS drops depending on the weather and time of day.

I'm searching for a phone that's well supported on postmarket and has good battery life

The only app I miss from Android is BirthDayDroid. This app takes birthdays information from contacts and send notifications about them. Also provides convenient interface too look at the upcoming birthdays. GNU/Linux phones also have contacts and also support birthday fields. But is there a similar app to notify about birthdays?

I have a fairphone 4 with Ubuntu Touch and i've tried installing Android Auto using Waydrod gapps image, but it says my device isn't compatible.

Anyone knows if i's possible to install it?

The utility allows to have multiple bootloaders without the risk of breaking the device. But the most important part of the article is patched U-Boot that improves many things for PinePhone Pro.
