I love the app so far, but the only thing is I want to see community content before looking at the others. Is there a way to set that up? I don't see the option in settings

I've been trying to post some pictures directly in this community, but I keep getting this error message. Don't know how to fix it or why it's happening. I can upload pictures from the actual Lemmy website, but not the connect app for now. Is this a common issue right now just cause of the general overload on Lemmy today?

Is it possible to mark on each comment if it has been read?

Also when posting a URL could the title be prefilled from the link? Or at least suggested like the web version does?

Connect for Lemmy currently seems to be one of the most-commonly recommended apps for new users. For a lot of the refugees currently migrating from the Reddit 3rd party apps that got shutdown yesterday, this will be their first experience of Lemmy/The Fediverse.

As such, I think it'd be a really great idea to have a little new user experience that explains some basic concepts e.g

  • Basic app usage
  • What is Lemmy?
  • What is an instance?
  • Does it matter what instance I pick?
  • How do you create an account?
  • Discovering/Subscribing to communities

We don't want to scare off by being too complex so presentation is everything. The key thing is giving people just enough info to help them get set up with an account and subscribed to some interesting communities (and ideally with a very basic understanding of instances)

What do people think?

The adaptive icon for me on a Pixel 7 is just __a single block of colour. That colour does change according to my theme but It would look a lot nicer if it was just a C

I have noticed that this app uses quite a lot of my data, possibly because it's downloading all the images in the background.

It would be nice to have a setting to control whether images should be preloaded (with options like wifi only, always and never)

It could be a bug, or or could just be me or maybe its be design. But when you open a link to an image. I'm not able to zoom on it. Touching the screen again will cause the image to close instead.

Would love to be able to subscribe to a instance here: (image)

The promo pic shows a menu pulled up to add a secondary account, but I can't find the option. Am I missing something obvious?

As title.

I'm not sure of the time needed for it to revert. But I haven't closed the app. Only gone back to my home screen and used other apps. So it's still open in the background.

The setting will still show that reverse list view is selected. But will show normal list view. You have to select a different view and save it, ten select reverse list view again and save that for it to show the reverse list view.

Could also be added as an opt-in since I'm sure that could get annoying to accidentally click community names instead of the post title.

I would love to be able to just hit the bolded community name and navigate to it, rather than options>/c/community or click post, click header to get to the community homepage itself.

Hi, happy long weekend everyone! Hope everyone is having a good day so far. I've been listening to feedback and made a couple changes in 1.0.46. I added an about page for instances with a "Browse as guest" button. Fixed some issues with the link handler, and improved the experience of replying to long comments.

Changelog:

  • Fixed replying to long comments.
  • Made the comment and post create input fields more performant, hopefully fixed a flickering keyboard issue
  • Preloads images on post lists so image jump-in should be reduced
  • Added unsubscribe button to subscriptions list
  • Added about community button to all communities in the drawer
  • Added about instance button to all communities in the drawer and the top right menu.
  • Improved the link follower in some cases to better detect posts and communities.
  • If a post cannot be loaded on the local instance, attempt to view it on the foreign instance
  • Added setting for adding dividers between top comments and between all comments
  • Added setting for always displaying the comment bar
  • Changed the app icon to something a bit more material design-y
  • Added setting for even larger comment text size

Can we choose a default sort option per subscription? Some communities are large and I want to view by hot. For other communities, I would like to view by new. If this setting could be done on a per community basis on the ones I am subscribed to, it would be great.

Like with posts but with blue hyperlinks in post body or comments. Right know if you long press links in comments the comment folds up.

This may have something to do with having multiple accounts that are subscribed to the same communities.

The reply box doesn't scroll up when the reply length gets long enough, making it hard to see what you're typing.

I'm on a pixel 6 pro using the latest Android version with the Google keyboard.

On Android, for photos and even Google maps, there is a gesture to double tap, but on the second tap you keep your finger on the screen and drag it down to zoom in and up to zoom out. You can then double tap again from a zoomed in position to zoom back out. Also, you can just double tap to zoom in a predetermined amount.

Reddit sync uses this feature as well. You can still use a single tap to close the image.

For tall aspect ratio phones, reaching to the very top right to share content is uncomfortable. Adding this option to the bottom overflow menu would be nice.

Is there any way that we could treat accounts as separate profiles so to speak? I think with Lemmy, a lot of us may have multiple accounts on different instances. That is sort of necessitated because of federation. It would be good if those different accounts, which may be intended to consume different types of content, could have different preferences for styles and layouts and such

Hi, Just keeping the momentum going. This release brings default sorting options for posts and an improved image viewer.

Still on the hunt for a new app icon, if you know a designer please let me know!

Changelog:

  • Added default sorting option for posts
  • Added better image viewer
  • Adjusted Drawer header text colour for legibility
  • Make swipe actions slightly more responsive
  • Fix an SSL issue on Android 7
  • Added block user and community options to the post card three dot menu
  • Fixed a text ovelap issue for long display names
  • Added an expand option to Profile options and some swipe animations to make things look nice
  • Added message button to person views
  • Fixed an issue with fullwidth card height
  • Added a divider when viewing fullwidth card posts
  • When signed in a guest there is now a sign out button

Note: as of writing this post 1.0.44 is still publishing in Google Play. If you're on 1.0.43 the only different is a bug in the image view where the three dot menu wasn't showing up.

It would be great if nsfw content can be blocked from appearing in the all/community feeds. Not blocked globally. Content should be visible if you go direct to a community which contains nsfw content.
