Connect for Lemmy App

Not sure if this is a bug, or if the feature is working correctly, but blocking the instance on the shown post blocks mastodon.uno instead of feddit.it which is what I would expect.

It would be helpful if the block options in the menu showed the name of what they were going to block, as I've often accidentally blocked the user's instance instead of the community's instance in a post. It's difficult to know at a glance what the different parts of a post's categories are (user@instance/community@instance, etc).

Also, blocking an instance means comments from users of that instance are blocked too, which is not desirable. I think the point of blocking an instance is only to block posts from communities on that instance.

Hi all, just some small fixes and a much requested feature in this update. I made the arrow hit targets a bit bigger so they're easier to click. Also comment navigation got a fix and should work more reliably now. This release brings community suggestions to the 'Create a post' page so the list should auto-populate as you type.

Please use this thread for any feedback about the changes! The update will hopefully go live tomorrow.

I was trying to add most of my reddit subs to lemmy. But it is redirected to the website.

I've been reporting some stuff and the admins/mods aren't quite happy there is no report reason provided.. can we make that feature more useful for them, instead of just flagging the content?

I tended to use upvotes on reddit as a way to save them for quick access later for reference or sharing. It was as easy as going to my profile and clicking the drop down to see my upvoted posts. I don't have a way to do this in Connect.

Pretty straightforward, when I check the "community sidebar" or the "about this community" I'd like to see a list of the moderators of the community. Not only does it tell me who is in charge but also gives me an idea of how large/active a community is.

Could also add the feature to message the mods directly from the list.

Currently the side bar allows you to see different feeds including the front page of every community you've subscribed to, everything in your account's local instance (in my case, lemmy.world), and federated - all instances.

It would be cool to open specific instances in the app. Just like how I can browse my local instance, I want to browse other "local" instances. It will help in discovering new communities across the federation.

There are posts that use Imgur albums or even Imgur links instead of the image file (example.jpg) or Redgifs, which are often pasted as the page link instead of the file. Currently, Connect does not load any of these inline. They all require a click out, which opens the links in mobile browser. Makes it more difficult to have a smooth browsing experience.

Pretty much what the title says. I used the app twice today and both times after roughly 15-20 minutes my entire phone froze. I couldn't do anything but my inputs were still detected, i.e. I used a shortcut to open my camera and after a while the camera opened.

I'm not sure how long my phone froze this morning but I'd say roughly 2-3 minutes. Just now it froze for a solid 5-6 minutes.

I am using a Motorola Moto g(9) power. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary, just scrolling through the front-page, and I don't have many apps open since I always make sure to close them when I'm done using them.

I might be willing to risk another freeze, just let me know what(&how to) data to record beforehand.

I would like to have a button in the menu of a comment to block the user directly. Right now, I have to tap on the usernamr to go to their profile to block them.

Also, after blocking the user the app goes directly to the main feed which is very inconvenient if you weren't done reading the post's comments, especially if you have "Hide read posts" enabled. I think the better solution would be going back to the post you came from.

I'd love to have the possibility to browse the instance and community of a post without opening it. Now the menu looks like .

When I open the post, there are the : "About community" and "About instance"

I have two pi-holes on my home network, but I'm noticing that when I open links using Connect's built in browser, I'm being served display ads when I normally wouldn't be. When I open the links with an external browser no ads are displayed. Is the app using a hardcoded DNS server when making requests to the links? Is there a way to stop that so it instead uses the DNS server configured on my home network?

Yes I realize I could set up a DNS Masq rule. I just didn't like how the reporting ended up being I pi-holes dashboard.

Rather than permanently hide all read posts or not at all, it would be nice to be able to hide them when needed. Refreshing posts or navigating to a community could load all posts.

I find turning on "mark as read on scroll" and "hide all read posts" too aggressive in its current state. Mark as read on scroll + a button to hide when needed/wanted would be much better imo.

And if posts that are scrolled past or images viewed could also be greyed out (like when clicking on comments), that would be fantastic.

Also, in "enable markdown" in settings - editing is spelled with one "t". Also also, blocked instances disappear from the list when I tap "save settings". Please fix.

It would be nice if failed downloads were retried, since I often have an empty picture in my gallery (i will try to attach a pic)

Saving posts doesn't always work.

for example, it may still show the feed of the other account, and when I tap again to switch to the new account, it may show the right feed, but then it may still try to go to the other profile when I tap "my profile"

Needless to say, getting blasted with a bunch of rhetoric vile enough to warrant moderation is not the way I wanted to start my day.

Basically you double tap on the image, hold your finger down on the second tap and slide up and down to control zoom in/out.

If I manually make changes to the blocklists from the blocklist settings page, then go back to the main settings page and select save settings, the blocklist reverts to how it was before the changes.

If I do the same but exit settings without clicking save settings, it works as intended and the changes persist.

version 1.0.88 How to reproduce:

1. Go to settings > default comment sorting option > select comment sorting preference "sort comments by top"
2. Go to your inbox and select one of your replies
3. click on "view full post"
4. full post opens but comment sorting is not by "top"
5. coment sorting still works when you access the post not from inbox

Single tap should collapse the comment chain, however despite having the setting turned on, it now requires a long press. Single press only opens comment bar

ETA: must be my phone, have reset and resaved and now working

This is more of an immediate issue, but there are some bots going around sending harmful content to users. Right now, those images show up right in the inbox.

It would be better to have them show up as links so the user can open what they want to see. It's also more compact that way.

I am glad that I can now see who I am commenting as, but I'd like to use my own instance for reading, and a different one to comment with. It would be nice if I could select a different user for each comment. (like in slide for reddit if anyone remembers)

I still can't see who I am posting as (as opposed to commenting). That would be nice, too.

It would frequently be helpful to have the post you are directly replying to visible in the Reply screen. Or perhaps a "Show/Hide Parent Comment" toggle on the Reply screen on case you want to refer back or quote specific details from the parent.

I've been using Connect more, but it would be nice to be able to move the thumbnails to the left side. I'm right handed but typically use my left hand when browsing one handed. I think this would be a nice feature for others as well.
