ideally, is like too just have hide with a small left swipe as that is the action I mostly do.

Is there a reason why Connect is not open source software unlike Lemmy itself and many more Fediverse clients/servers?

I have it on but I still keep seeing the same posts.

Some posts seem to not load a preview, and clicking on them shows doesn't load their content in the internal WebView:

I'm not sure, but I think this is theImgur redirect breaking things. Would it be possible to handle this more gracefully?

/c/all is now predictably cluttered with porn from the lemmynsfw instance. Can we get a block instance option in the instance page, instead of having to block each individual instance?

As a related request, would you be open to a feature like a "blocked share list" that somebody can import? You could use it to maintain and share a list of onlyfans accounts if you don't want to see them, for instance.

Text links to external sites are a bit bare right now. It would be great if we could dhow a short snippet of the content or some sort of preview for links to know more before clicking on them. I'm not sure if this can be done without an additional request?

It would be awesome if you could change feeds from All/Local/Subscribed in the title bar, as well as navigate to or search your subscribed communities as well, similarly to how some Reddit apps had it.

This is currently my primary frustration with Connect: complete opaqueness regarding instances.

I understand that one design philosophy might argue that instances shouldn't matter, so why show it at all. But it does matter, especially on All, and in comments. I think at the current and near-term state of development, obscuring instances creates more confusion than it alleviates.

• In this example, I have no idea what community this is. Where is "here"? "General" is a super broad category (does a multi-community even make sense for this type of community name?). Is this /c/general for a general purpose instance, or /c/general of an instance dedicated to a very specific topic? Is that instance worth checking out? Who knows?
• Is this an instance I'm subscribed to yet?
• is this the same /c/general I was in last time with a moderation policy and moderators I didn't like, or a new one?
• Is my instance defederated from seal_of_approval and will they receive my message? Who knows?
• Are most responders coming from lemmy.world, from sketchy instances loaded with bots or is there good traction from smaller instances? Is there instance brigading going on?
• Is this an impersonator of seal_of_approval?
• is this a specific community that spams a lot and I should block it?
• What moderation rules apply to this instance?

I can't block entire instances myself...

I realize that a lot of these problems have some sort of workaround by drilling down into community details and profiles. Ain't nobody have time for that.

I realize that specific UI solutions could be introduced to tackle each of these problems individually in a user-friendly manner. But we're not there and who knows when we will get there.

I dont get notifications to replys on comments. I was wondering if this was intentional or not, or if I'm just not finding a setting.

Also since I'm asking, is this open source code? I'd love to contribute

Love the app, its much better than alternatives.

So I'm seeing a peach/salmon color for my main color scheme on the app. I'd love to change that.

I do wonder if it's just me. In Jerboa, when "dynamic" is selected for the color theme, it gives me the same color. No idea where that's coming from as my main color scheme is a vibrant red both in the Android system and on my desktop and icons.

Anyhow, I've tried Connect, Jerboa and Liftoff and this is my favorite one so far. I'll be putting together more detailed feedback later but first impressions are great. Keep up the good work!

It's unclear how to add alt text to images uploaded via the Post Url upload button. Is there a way to do this? I think it should be a prompt or field whenever an image is posted.

Pretty simple request, the list currently has the capitalized communities at the top, remembering which one is capitalized or not is inconvenient.

Hi, Connect 1.0.59 brings a new profile page, improvements to how routes are handled within the app, and a host of new settings. I hope you like it!

I'm still thinking about what a 'new to Lemmy' onboarding might look like. Also I know some people reported issues with the markdown editor yesterday, if this version still have issues please add a comment and I'll try and sort them out today!

What's new

• Community name and user name are now direct links, with a setting to disable it.

• Added a quick link to the official community within the app

• Added confirmation on exit app

• Added swiping on the left edge of home will open the drawer.

• The drawer navigation actions should be more responsive now

• Added an option to adjust how nested comments look. Also I added a couple presets within Settings to change it. I hope you like the presets I've chosen.

• Added some improvements to the profile page. Tabs for overall/posts/comments and a page header

• Added some haptic feedback for swipe actions

Bugfixes

• Fixed comment cards in the reply view are no longer clickable
• Fixed a three dot menu being invisible (web)
• Fixed some routing issues when creating a comment or editting a comment. Instead of the previous state being in history it should now show only the state after the change.

Also please let me know what you think of the colour palettes I've chosen for the comment lines. If you're thinking of one that would be cool I'm happy to add it in :)

The login functionality on Connect like many other lemmy is to set the instance name followed by the username & password. I was wondering if it's possible to include the instance name in the username? Such as username1@instance1.com.

The benefits of this would be to simplify the login functionality and allow users to store this information in a password manager.

My background color is blue when in light mode. Comments are hard to read with the blue background and black text. Any suggestions? Dark mode doesn't seem to have the issue. Samsung sm-T510 running Android 11

As somebody who edits their words 12 times, it's helpful for me to have drafts. In Boost I could type some nonsense up, decide I had something wrong or worded weirdly, pop back to the main post, then jump back into my draft to make edits before posting.

Would be nice to have here as well. By no means something I would say rushing on - kind of an outlier I expect - but would be a nice to have for sure.

Clicking on a community link in the form !inclusiveor@lemmy.blahaj.zone takes me to user inclusiveor, not community inclusiveor as intended. This happens when using the /c/ notation as well.

Infinity for reddit used to vibrate briefly when comment chains were minimized (same way, press and hold). I got really used to that feedback.

Also related, but an option to disable the animation for minimizing comment chains would be cool. The slide is kind of disorienting to me

Has anyone found a setting for being able to zoom in on photos. I open a photo and then touch it to zoom in and it closes. Even with double touch it will close. Am I missing something?

Since yesterday, clicking from the front page to any discussion gives a blank page with couldnt_get_comments error and a 'refresh' button that takes you back to the front page

This happens the same when trying with different instances, logged in or not logged in, and after uninstall/reinstall.

in the spirit of the fediverse it would be good to be able to enter any Lemmy server address so the ones listed don't get hammered but to also allow people to branch out anywhere. cheers!

Hi, thanks for all the great feedback on the last release. This release brings hide post functionality and improvements to the about instance page.

We also hit 20k active users! That's an amazing milestone for only being live for about 2 weeks. I'm going to be working on a 'New to Lemmy' onboarding page as Connect is often the first place for new users. Also customization for swipe actions is high on my list to do.

I have three accounts at different Lemmy instances. I can set up and successfully log into any of these individually through Connect for Lemmy.

However, if I set up all three and try and switch between them I get an error message saying:

"An error occurred while switching."

Does anyone else have this issue?

I have all 3 set up on Liftoff and I can instantly switch between accounts. I prefer Connect, but the account switching issue is keeping me on Liftoff :(

Any tips on why I might be getting this error?
