Hi, firstly thank you to all the beta testers that have helped find bugs and issues. I hope this release is even more stable as a result. It's been a couple days since the last release so I was able to get a lot done in this one. Big changes include a bottom navigation drawer, comment navigation, and improvements to the settings page.

I love the addition of a way to navigate to the next/previous top level comments. I have a suggestion about the way it is implemented.

Currently you have to have a top level comment selected to activate that menu, but sometimes a comment chain is quite long so you end up having to either scroll up or down a fair way to get back to that menu.

I'd like to suggest a UI change, using a screenshot from Slide for Reddit as an example, you can see there's a floating, translucent bar along the bottom of the screen (just above my phone's navigation buttons) which you can press and it finds the next/previous top level post no matter where you are in the current chain.

Been using connect for a few days now, love it.

But 1 thing bugs me. Then I'm deep deep deeeeep in the pits of /all, it would be nice to have a "go to top" button, since the menu is only visible there.

Just throwing in my 2 cents.

I am experiencing a minor inconsistency: if I upvote a post in the detail screen, when I come back to the post list afterwards (in card view), the "upvote" button and state (i.e. the up pointing arrow button) is not in the toggled orange state even if I have upvoted the post, and the counters are not updated. The same applies for downvotes and also the vice-versa if navigating from the list (after the vote) to the detail. If I reload, instead, all is in sync again. Addition: If I downvote a post from the list and reload (to have it synced) and then I change my mind and upvote it, still from the list, when I enter the detail I am seeing the downvote state toggled and the old counters.

Apart from it, anyway, this is the best Android Lemmy app in the market, you have all my appreciation and gratitude. Being a developer myself I am very "picky" in my choices.

I noticed the comment lines RGB (red, green, blue) actually display RBG (red, blue, green).

Can you order red, green, blue please? Thanks!

Not sure if I'm missing it, but is there a way to browse all the communities on another instance?

Bug report (v86):

• ~~Many thumbnails both pictures and site previews are showing error symbols. It looks to also include profile picture and sub/community icons/pictures.~~

Hi,

While using Connect for Lemmy, as I am scrolling through the comments on a post, I always get to a point where the comments start to repeat from the beginning, even though I never tried to scroll back to the top.

What's more, if I keep on scrolling, it eventually happens again. I never can get to the end of the comments, because the list just keeps repeating.

Has anyone else seen this happen? I'm wondering if the arrival of a new comment causes the thread to start over from the top?

Why don't they display in a code font at the very least?

Just as the title says. I tap it, nothing happens. Tried on a bunch of different comments. The FAB to add a top-level comment still works though. I don't see any update in the Play store, and no change when I cleared storage for the app.

I have an account there, and I've verified that I can access it through my browser, but when I try to access it with Connect I get "No posts".

I'm logged into my .world account but Connect seems to believe that I'm logged in my .ca account.

There is an option to sort posts by top of 6 hours, 12 hours, day, week and all but there is no option for top of the hour.

I can tell I'm using lemmy via connect a lot because I had 3gb of cache in it lol.

Which makes me wonder if it would be possible to have an option to clear cache on close, or some in-app way. Would be an awesome QOL feature for those of us that never remember to check until we're out of space :)

I've tried to share images and occasionally, I'll get an error. I'll open the image in a web browser and notice it's webp. I'll then have to convert it via a website to jpg or whatever. Is it possible to do this in app? Force webp into jpg so I can share it?

I think it'd be great to see the patch notes in app with maybe customization settings to display them on app open or something. I love exploring the new features and see the progress is app is making but I often forget to look at the notes in the play store.

If this already exists then I apologize!

How can I cross post something with Connect? I'm not even sure if that's something one can do in Lemmy.

When making a new post from a view that isn't on a community directly (all, local, or frontpage) it'd be great if the community name field autocompleted communities where I started typing the name much like it does in the side bar search.

I think it'd be great if when I view the link of a post, whether it be an image or whatever, if that marked the post as read. Which would go great with the already existing feature to hide read posts.

Additionally, a button on the main view to see or hide read posts would be cool too but not as important.

Edit: it looks like there is already a setting "Mark post as read on image view" that I didn't see. So looks like that works. But it doesn't make the title of the post change from normal to "read" like it does when you click it

This is quite unintuitive nowadays, as most interfaces don't require manual saving, especially on mobile. I've caught myself more than once forgetting to save and having to redo settings changes. I think what makes it worse is that the settings button doesn't stand out on dark mode, or change much when there are unsaved changes

I noticed that if my post has a '&' character, during an edit operation, all characters AFTER the '&' are not recalled during the edit.

For example, if I have a post like

Specifically this is shown

• test
• test
• test

And the things I see & hear are

• great
• big

When I edit this, I only see

Specifically this is shown

• test
• test
• test

And the things I see &

To go around this, I had to copy the text of my post, edit and paste over everything. Perhaps it has something to do with a list after the & sign. Not sure if anyone else has this issue as well

After browsing normally for several minutes, all of the post feeds go totally blank. I'm also unable to see post feeds from any specific Communities.

I am able to reach single posts and their comments by tapping on a comment in my profile, however.

The only way I can regain access to the feeds is to totally clear all storage for the app. Forcing the app to close, and signing out/in don't regain access to the feeds.

What the title says. I have one account with a long Blocklist, and each time I try to add this account on Connect, it breaks something, nothing is showing at all (local/all/subscribed) and all my accounts are affected.

The only way to fix the situation is to clear data in the block list and to sign-in all my accounts over again

I really like Connect over most other Lemmy apps, coming from RiF. What I miss a lot though is an option to switch sides for images in the list view of posts. I know it's a minor thing but I would really appreciate having that option for right-handed one-hand browsing! Thanks for reading my suggestion, love the app! :)
