Hey, you
We got your war
We're at the gates
We're at your door
Hey, you
We got your war
We're at the gates
We're at your door

We got the guillotine
We got the guillotine, you better run
We got the guillotine
We got the guillotine, you better run
We got the guillotine
We got the guillotine, you better run
We got the guillotine
We got the guillotine, you better run

We wanna thank you for flyin with us
We know you coulda stayed home, just cried and cussed
May all your guns go off if it's time to bust
May all their tanks have time to rust
They got the armies turnin bullets into gold
They got the hookers turnin tricks in the cold
And everytime the police kicks in the do
An angel gas-brakes-dips in The O
And even if a D-boy flips him a O
It ain't enough to buy shit anymo
Sleep in the doorway, piss on the floor
Look in the sky wait for missiles to show
It's finna blow, cuz
They got the TV- we got the truth
They own the judges and we got the proof
We got hella people- they got helicopters
They got the bombs and we got the- we got the

We got the guillotine
We got the guillotine, you better run
We got the guillotine
We got the guillotine, you better run
We got the guillotine
We got the guillotine, you better run
We got the guillotine
We got the guillotine, you better run

Don't talk about, it's not a show
Be about it, it's bout to blow
Don't talk about, it's not a show
Be about it, it's bout to blow

I just spit the dope lines
I don't snort em
Tell the boss to call police to escort him
You don't write all them lies, you just quote em
Get offline, plug in to this modem
No you can't out-vote em
The rules are still golden
Only jewels we holdin
is if we guardin our scrotum
If you press your ear to the turf that is stolen
You can hear the sound of limitations explodin
Please, sir, may we have another portion?
We're children of the beast that dodged the abortion
Neck placed firm tween the floor and their florsheim
We'll shut your shit down- don't call it extortion
Caution- we're coming for your head
So call the feds and get files to shred
Every textbook read said bring you the bread
But guess what we got you instead

We got the guillotine
We got the guillotine, you better run
We got the guillotine
We got the guillotine, you better run
We got the guillotine
We got the guillotine, you better run
We got the guillotine
We got the guillotine, you better run

Let's keep it bangin like a shotgun
We're in a war before we fought one
Now if you're tired of workin so they can play-
A common enemy, we got one
Now keep it bangin like a shotgun
We're in a war before we fought one
Now if you're tired of workin so they can play-
A common enemy, we got one

Don't talk about, it's not a show
Be about it, it's bout to blow
Don't talk about, it's not a show
Be about it, it's bout to blow

Yeah, lynch your leaders, lynch your
Lynch your leaders, lynch your
Lynch your leaders, lynch your
Lynch your, ah, lynch your, ah
Lynch your leaders, lynch your
Lynch your leaders, ah\

Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)\

Down, down, tear that building to the ground
That house of serpents harbours murderers
Bet that martyr's looking down
So heavy-hearted, who's to feed us
Now there's all this space between us
Next-door neighbours will not save us
Our own country's trying to bleed us\

This whole place is fucking violent
Had my mum breaking her back
Bought some scales to take the weight off
And now I'm under attack
Walk to the shops a hundred times a day
Hope my neighbours were not watching
Lucozade, Pro Plus and cling film
It's suspicious fucking shopping\

Baggy jeans with rocks in
Watch me rid them on the way
Had this toothache for a month now
But the dentist wants me to pay
Auctioned off the NHS
They're fucking giving it away
We're all slaves, we're all slaves
Barely giving man a wage\

They're printing ragtag fucking clippings
About man taking your jobs
Women daring to speak up
And all those black fatherless yobs
I swear this place has gone insane
You want your country back from who?
Your brain is fried from too much Sun
We want our country back from you (You, you...)\

Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)\

Down, down, sell your soul to make a pound
Gotta get it how you live
The poor can't afford to be proud
Fifteen, growing way too quickly
My school jumper didn't fit me
I took one brief look around
And stole one from the lost and found\

Just like I stole that teacher's purse
Mum's first son was a thief
Wanted new trainers, lost the money
And got suspended for a week
Another leech, son of an immigrant
Suckling at England's teat
Ugly duckling of this nation
Suffering from its own defeat\

You brought this pain upon yourself
And somehow it's all our fault
Man feel low, in a place
Where there's no houses, heat or hope
Nine to five, move some dope
Sniff some coke just to cope
Till it all comes tumbling down
And we decide to grab that rope (That rope)\

"Hanging today, come and see the hanging"

Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)
Lynch your leaders (Lynch your leaders)\

Lynch your, ah, lynch your leaders
Lynch your, ah, lynch your leaders
Lynch your, ah, lynch your leaders
Lynch your, ah, lynch your leaders
Yeah, yeah, lynch your leaders
Lynch your, lynch your leaders
Lynch your, lynch your leaders
Lynch your, lynch your leaders, yeah, yeah\

If only this song were true, alas we are doomed to cruelty and savagery it seems.

Lyrics:

In Alabama 1958
The cost of human life is very low
A man that's black is trampled down
Just like men were a thousand years ago

These are more enlightened days
Cruel men and savage ways
We-ee left long ago
Now every man may walk his road in peace
For all are free!

Five thousand years ago, a million men
Were gathered into royal Egypt's hands
Were bound together, forced to build
Pyramids of stone in desert sands

These are more enlightened days
Cruel men and savage ways
We-ee left long ago
Now every man may walk his road in peace
For all are free!

Mary's son walked through a land of woe
Dreaming of the world as it could be
The good and lawful men of Rome
Nail him like a robber to the tree

These are more enlightened days
Cruel men and savage ways
We-ee left long ago
Now every man may walk his road in peace
For all are free!

In Britain just a hundred years ago
The jails were full of poor and hungry men
Diggers, Charlies, many more
Fought and died and rose to fight again

These are more enlightened days
Cruel men and savage ways
We-ee left long ago
Now every man may walk his road in peace
For all are free!

Last year a negro stole a dollar bill
The judge he said "We mustn't be severe
Instead of death we'll give him life imprisonment
To show there's justice here"

These are more enlightened days
Cruel men and savage ways
We-ee left long ago
Now every man may walk his road in peace
For all are free!

And so throughout the ages we have seen
How progress marches ever on its way
No rack, no wheel, no Spanish boot
For Alabama's prisoners today

These are more enlightened days
Cruel men and savage ways
We-ee left long ago
Now every man may walk his road in peace
For all are free!

The plague still runs in 1958
Johannesberg to Nottinghill and back
A plague of ignorance and hate
Me-en walk in fear because their skin is black

These are more enlightened days
No room for all these savage ways
Leave them, let them go
Now every man should walk his road in peace
Let man be free!

The story of Mississippi Goddam

Lyrics

The name of this tune is Mississippi Goddam

And I mean every word of it

Alabama's gotten me so upset

Tennessee made me lose my rest

And everybody knows about Mississippi Goddam

Alabama's gotten me so upset

Tennessee made me lose my rest

And everybody knows about Mississippi Goddam

Can't you see it

Can't you feel it

It's all in the air

I can't stand the pressure much longer

Somebody say a prayer

Alabama's gotten me so upset

Tennessee made me lose my rest

And everybody knows about Mississippi Goddam

This is a show tune

But the show hasn't been written for it, yet

Hound dogs on my trail

School children sitting in jail

Black cat cross my path

I think every day's gonna be my last

Lord have mercy on this land of mine

We all gonna get it in due time

I don't belong here

I don't belong there

I've even stopped believing in prayer

Don't tell me

I tell you

Me and my people just about due

I've been there so I know

They keep on saying "Go slow!"

But that's just the trouble

"do it slow"

Washing the windows

"do it slow"

Picking the cotton

"do it slow"

You're just plain rotten

"do it slow"

You're too damn lazy

"do it slow"

The thinking's crazy

"do it slow"

Where am I going

What am I doing

I don't know

I don't know

Just try to do your very best

Stand up be counted with all the rest

For everybody knows about Mississippi Goddam

I made you thought I was kiddin' didn't we

Picket lines

School boy cots

They try to say it's a communist plot

All I want is equality

for my sister my brother my people and me

Yes you lied to me all these years

You told me to wash and clean my ears

And talk real fine just like a lady

And you'd stop calling me Sister Sadie

Oh but this whole country is full of lies

You're all gonna die and die like flies

I don't trust you any more

You keep on saying "Go slow!"

"Go slow!"

But that's just the trouble

"do it slow"

Desegregation

"do it slow"

Mass participation

"do it slow"

Reunification

"do it slow"

Do things gradually

"do it slow"

But bring more tragedy

"do it slow"

Why don't you see it

Why don't you feel it

I don't know

I don't know

You don't have to live next to me

Just give me my equality

Everybody knows about Mississippi

Everybody knows about Alabama

Everybody knows about Mississippi Goddam

That's it!

Chumbawamba wrote this in 1994, and it's still just as relevant today.

21 years of minimum wage
Got no problems with manual labour

You stepped up in the 90s, wanna show me how
Well, I don't need no fuckin' favour

I am the working class!
All day
So I don't have to
See your face.

I am the working class!
Discipline
The daybreak is when
I begin

I am the working class!
Each day
I bust my bones to
Get paid

I am the working class!
Damn straight
The daily grind is
My fate

Through 7 seas of alcohol
And a jail of dank depression
Well, I turned my back and where are you now?
...and I've bucked up for that recession

Going to be posting some anti Nazi government songs I've been listening to lately.

Food banks, poll tax, mass unemployment,
And you wanna buy into more lies?
Privatisation of public assets,
I want the lies stopped.

Fuck the union!
Revolution!

Austerity and inequality,
Ruled by the unelected,
Minimal wages, child poverty,
It's time for the new order.

Fuck the union!
Revolution!

It amazes me how country music used to be laser focused on the working class, given the state of the genre now.

I guess that's how music made in a consumption culture inevitably turns out.
