It's all about the illusion of control. People who are healthy like to believe they can always keep being healthy if they do the right things. They don't want to think about how good people get struck with terrible circumstances for no reason. So they keep assuming that if they got sick, they could do something to make it better. And if you're still sick, that must mean you've done something wrong or not done enough.

possessing one or some marginalized identities isn't an all access oppression press pass. y'all need to get better at listening to other communities criticisms instead of knee jerk reacting defending yourself because you feel attacked and generalized.

the reason oppressed groups say "_ are awful" instead of "some are awful" is because including the word "some" allows individuals of that group to detach themselves from the problem and shuck the blame off and say "well they arent really talking about me so i can ignore their opinions", whereas stating that an entire group of oppressors is awful makes the individual think whether or not theyre included in the awfulness of that group and makes them consider their actions so thats why people say "men are awful" or "white people are awful" and if you take it personally you're getting angry at the wrong people

Okay, here's the problem with the idea that oppressed groups can "alienate allies" by not being nice enough:
You shouldn't be an ally because oppressed groups are nice to you. You should be an ally because you believe they deserve basic human rights. Hearing "I hate men" shouldn't make men stop being feminist. Hearing "fuck white people" shouldn't make white people stop opposing racism.
Your opposition to oppression should be moral, and immovable. Your belief that all humans should be treated with equal respect shouldn't be conditional based on whether or not individual people are nice to you.

MARGINALIZED PEOPLE
DO NOT HAVE TO:
Be nice to you
Educate you
'Debate' or Prove their oppression to you
Make you feel comfortable
Give your 'opinion' equal weight to their experiences Earn your respect in order to be treated as human Always remain calm in the face of dehumanization
