PSUV leader and Venezuelan Minister of Interior Diosdado Cabello sent a message of caution to the Bolivarian revolutionary militancy following the US attack on Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores.

Diosdado Cabello has put the country on alert with a warning that after the kidnapping of President Maduro, the United States is moving to a second stage aimed at dividing the revolutionary movement. He cautioned over “playing into the hands of imperialism” and emphasized the “monolithic unity’ of the revolutionary forces.

In an audio shared on Sunday, January 4, the PSUV general secretary and minister of Interior urged the party members to not fall for the enemy’s provocation, following the January 3 attack.

https://orinocotribune.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Diosdado-Cabello-audio.mp3

Below is the audio message from Diosdado Cabello transcribed:

From our party and from the Great Patriotic Pole, I send you a big hug. Let us not fall into their game.

Look, before yesterday’s events, remember the huge campaign that existed to divide the Armed Forces, to divide the revolutionary movement. They have not been able to do it. This first stage failed. They kidnapped President Nicolás Maduro and now they are going for the second stage. Let no one play into the hands of imperialism.

Let no one start spreading rumors. Here, the unity of the revolutionary forces is more than guaranteed, and here there is only one president, whose name is Nicolás Maduro Moros, elected by our people. There is no debate about that—no debate at all. Our sister Delcy has made that clear, and so have all of us: the high military command, the police forces, and all our people.

We have made it known to the entire world. The president of Venezuela is Nicolás Maduro Moros, and we demand that he be returned to us safe and sound, that he return to his country.

Delcy Rodríguez Responds to Trump’s Threats: No External Agent Governs Venezuela

Even with the mobilization team, I have told them that we must carry out a series of activities that are necessary to maintain mobilization—maximum mobilization. Nerves of steel. A firm stance.

A firm stance. No one should panic. Calm and clear judgment. No one should fall for the enemy’s provocations. Notice something—how strange. Or maybe not strange at all. Like that time when they overthrew Commander Hugo Chávez. Someone asked the question on April 11: how strange that a dictator would be applauded by the people, that the people would come out into the streets to demand his return.

What a strange dictatorship there is in Venezuela! A dictatorship of the people. The people who are in the streets are the Bolivarian people, the people who support Nicolás Maduro, the people who support peace. And today Venezuelans are outraged, regardless of their political color. Today we are outraged because in the end everything has been revealed. It has been revealed that all they want is our oil, that they care about absolutely nothing else.

We maintain our monolithic unity—a rock, the Rock of Christ. The Rock of Christ protects us and will help us move forward, to move forward. I have no doubt that this will be so. I ask you all to take care of yourselves. We need to be present to wage this struggle, each person taking care according to their responsibility.

Be certain that today more than ever, the political–military high command is more united, and united in accordance with the instructions left by our president Nicolás Maduro. The popular–military–police fusion is a reality. We do not see anyone from the opposition; they do not appear in the streets. What appears is the people demanding the presence of our president.

I wanted to speak here to greet you all, to express my respect, my admiration for this people, my deep love for this people—for this people with whom we have fought so many battles together, and those still to come. And with certainty—certainty that I want to remain in our souls: Commander Chávez is gone, and we continue forward.

We are going to rescue Nicolás. But if something happens to any one of us, we must continue forward and raise his banner for peace, for independence, for sovereignty, for life. Well then, a big hug to you all, and remember—remember, as you already know—that whatever happens, and under any circumstances, we will prevail.

A statement from the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MICI) noted that Minister Julio Molto reached this conclusion after meeting with Chile’s Ambassador to Panama, Alejandro Sfeir.

They assessed the potential benefits for Panamanian producers and exporters within the framework of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in force between the two countries.

Molto reaffirmed, during the meeting, the commitment to continue working in a coordinated manner, strengthening the presence of Panamanian goods in the Chilean market under the “Made in Panama” quality seal.

The minister highlighted, among those sectors, more coffee, more agro-industrial products, and more value-added goods, because our goal is that these opportunities result in real exports for companies.

Ambassador Sfeir, in turn, reiterated his willingness to promote an agenda that facilitates trade, focused on simplifying procedures and accelerating the necessary coordination so that more Panamanian products can reach Santiago with clear rules, defined timelines, and competitive conditions.

“Greenland cannot be taken, it is not for sale,” the official emphasized on the public channel France 2, amid escalating rhetoric from Trump concerning the seizure of the enormous island, which holds vast resources beneath its ice, from oil and gas to gold, uranium, and the renowned rare earth elements.

The White House chief reiterated over the weekend his objective of controlling Greenland as a matter of national security, arguing that Denmark “cannot take care of it.”

According to Haddad, Europeans must assert themselves in a world of powers in order to write their own destiny.

For his part, Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated on the France Inter radio network that, faced with Trump’s plans regarding Greenland, Europeans are preparing to deal with Washington’s intimidation tactics.

According to Barrot, in a conversation yesterday with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the latter ruled out the possibility of intervention in the Danish territory, where the US already maintains a military base.

Before images of the fallen and with the Cuban flag at half-mast, embassy staff, social movements, the Operation and Mission Miracle SV Solidarity Network, the Salvadoran Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, and members of the Popular Resistance and Rebellion Bloc honored the heroic combatants.

During speeches recognizing the bravery of the fallen, Ambassador Tomas Lorenzo and representatives of the organizations highlighted the courage of the 32 heroes who died on January 3, when they gave their lives in the line of duty, confronting imperialist aggression and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro.

The event summarized the protests that solidarity and civil society organizations have been carrying out for several days in El Salvador, condemning the aggression and kidnapping of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

Analysts indicated that with this action, Washington is targeting Venezuelan oil and has no other objective than to subject that country to the control of President Donald Trump’s administration.

The executive branch dispatched Interior Minister Diego Santilli on a tour of several provinces with the aim of convincing governors, in exchange for promises of funding, to ask their legislators to support the bill, which failed to advance in the extraordinary sessions of December as the president had hoped.

This Wednesday, January 7, Santilli will arrive in the Patagonian province of Chubut to meet with its governor, Ignacio Torres, and discuss the labor reform and other projects of the Executive Branch, according to the presidential office.

This province is currently battling intense wildfires. As minister in charge of these matters, Santilli will also inspect, along with Torres, the joint operations being carried out between the national and provincial governments to combat the fires.

According to the schedule, Santilli will travel to at least ten provinces during January, prior to the extension of the extraordinary sessions scheduled for February 2nd, when the Senate will open a hearing to discuss the bill the executive branch calls “Labor Modernization,” one of Milei’s obsessions.

Three major mobilizations by Argentina’s labor unions and a hardline stance from the legislative opposition even prevented the ruling party from bringing the reform to a vote.

Meanwhile, concurrently with the Interior Minister’s tour, Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni reactivated talks with the legislative team, acting as an interlocutor for Javier and Karina Milei, to replicate the strategy that led to the approval last December of the 2026 Budget and the Fiscal Innocence Law. To secure the approval of the 2026 Budget, Patricia Bullrich, head of the La Libertad Avanza bloc in the Senate, and Martín Menem, as president of the Chamber of Deputies, also worked in coordination. They exerted their influence alongside Santilli, Presidential Advisor Eduardo Menem, and the Secretary of Strategic Affairs, Ignacio Devitt.

So far, the unions show no sign of budging in their rejection, nor does the opposition, particularly its hardliners.

In an editorial published by the newspaper Il Faro di Roma, Italian economist Luciano Vasapollo, leader of the Network of Communists, denounces the completely false narrative of alleged state-sponsored drug trafficking, used by the US government to justify the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores.

This disinformation campaign, which the analyst describes as a “shameful stigma,” was adopted by some governments, including Italy’s, to support the attack ordered by US President Donald Trump, which Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni justified as a supposed anti-narcotics operation.

This occurred, Vasapollo indicates, despite prominent figures from Italian and international institutions publicly underscoring the falsity of such arguments, which lacked objective evidence. Among them were Pino Arlacchi, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, and prosecutor Nicola Gratteri, an expert in the fight against drug trafficking.

“For years, Venezuela has been the target of a systematic delegitimization operation built not on facts, but on an arsenal of toxic narratives,” Vasapollo, who is also a co-founder of the Italian chapter of the Network of Intellectuals in Defense of Humanity, notes.

Denouncing and dismantling these campaigns of lies is imperative to unmask the true objectives of the disinformation and media manipulation, aimed at justifying a hybrid war and economic siege, with “the pretense of deciding from the outside who should govern a sovereign people.”

Finally, in this analysis, Vasapollo calls for continued popular mobilization in Italy by political, social, labor, and youth forces “that have chosen dignity over silence” against US aggression in Venezuela and the looming threat to other countries in Latin America and the world.

In a statement, OCHA specified that some 65,000 families were affected by severe winter storms in December in the Gaza Strip, already devastated by Israeli forces.

“Tents were blown away or damaged, homes collapsed, and personal belongings were soaked. In several places, entire displacement sites were flooded due to inadequate drainage and low-lying terrain,” the agency stated.

It also reported that temporary learning spaces and roads used to deliver supplies were affected. According to OCHA, during the past month, aid teams assisted approximately 80,000 families and distributed more than 40,000 tents; however, it noted that these tents “cannot serve as the primary or sole form of shelter, as they only provide temporary coverage.”

For this reason, it considered it essential to move towards more durable solutions such as the repair of partially damaged homes.

It also warned that “the lack of available land is hindering relocation and delaying the expansion of viable shelter solutions.”

“At this moment, when the world order is changing, the United States might gain some short-term advantages, but in the long run, its imperial strategy is not going to work because people have understood that these are the frustrations of a declining empire,” the Indian journalist told Prensa Latina when questioned about the aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

The editor-in-chief of Open the Magazine pointed out that Washington’s illegal actions are predicted by its own history and foreign policy, since the interests of the political class are aligned with those of the super-rich and the corporations that want to exploit the world.

He noted that, in Washington’s equation, in addition to the ideological war against socialist governments in Latin America and the rest of the world, and for its primary oil interests, it is necessary to highlight the internal political pressures that President Donald Trump is facing.

“You know, there are many problems surrounding the Epstein sex scandal, the files, and there are also many economic problems in the United States,” the Indian journalist stated.

He pointed out that Americans, especially the unemployed people and poor whites are extremely dissatisfied with Trump for his failure to deliver on his campaign promises. There is too much inequality in the United States, and unemployment has risen.

Ulrekh exressed that the US president has unleashed this international aggression to divert attention from all these internal problems and that, to stay in power, he protects the interests of the super-rich and multinational corporations by helping them exploit resources around the world.

“That is his political project, and if you ask me what the main objective is, it’s damage control, simplifying things for multinational corporations as the empire declines. We all know that the dollar will not remain as powerful as it is now, and that the United States will face many economic problems in the future,” he emphasized.

In statements to Sputnik Radio this Wednesday, the diplomat reacted strongly to Washington’s assertions that the operation in Venezuela was “bloodless,” noting that the US side is ignoring the deaths of dozens of Venezuelan and Cuban citizens.

“So, how is it that no one died? And aren’t the citizens of Venezuela and Cuba human beings? I have a question: in what dimension do we live? I want an answer.”

Zakharova said she was taking the opportunity to ask: “When the United States says that this supposed operation was bloodless, does that mean it doesn’t consider the citizens of Venezuela and Cuba to be human beings? Who gave them that right? Who gave them the right to ignore the bloody consequences they themselves caused, the consequences of their actions?”

The diplomat also noted that the UN did not adequately assess the loss of life resulting from these events.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff decided on Monday to remain in Paris to continue negotiations with a view to a ceasefire that still does not appear imminent.

Discussions included the peace plan promoted by US President Donald Trump, who is pressuring Zelensky to accept it.

European powers are trying to change this initiative, considering it too biased toward Russia, particularly regarding territorial concessions for Kiev.

The Coalition of the Willing, a bloc set up to support Ukraine, met in this capital on Monday, in which Trump’s envoys, Witkoff and Jared Kushner, participated on-site for the first time.

The Coalition of 35 members, led by France and the United Kingdom, agreed on the Paris Declaration, which includes the deployment of thousands of foreign troops to Ukraine once a cessation of hostilities is achieved.

The meeting will take place in the city of Manta, although there will be virtual participation, with delegates registered through the AppRC5 digital platform.

Amid internal disputes, several names are being considered to assume the leadership of the political group founded by former President Rafael Correa.

Currently, former presidential candidate Luisa González leads the movement.

The movement’s internal election has gained importance following the withdrawal of former minister Felipe Vega de la Cuadra, who withdrew from the race due to “persecution and threats,” as he stated.

Correa, for his part, announced his support for Gabriela Rivadeneira, former president of the National Assembly from 2013 to 2017 and a refugee in Mexico since 2020, as the party’s presidential candidate.

In addition to Rivadeneira, other activists, such as journalist Orlando Perez, have emerged within the movement as potential leaders after the convention.

Quito Mayor Pabel Munoz, a member of the RC, stated that he has high hopes for the convention.

“Time is demanding that we sit down, meet, have a closed discussion, and allow that debate to be as heated as it needs to be, so that we can then arrive at a unified position,” Munoz said.

The Ministry of Health and Social Prevention (MSPAS) confirmed that the alert issued on December 16 remains in effect, while noting a possible risk of an increase in cases of the disease in the coming weeks.

The Ministry has ruled out any new reports of the so-called “super flu” since the 24-year-old woman confirmed on January 19. This flu typically intensifies during the cold season and can extend into February.

However, the Ministry added that it is working to strengthen early detection and prevent a resurgence of infections in the country through active epidemiological surveillance throughout the territory. The head of the Pediatric Emergency Department at the Roosevelt Hospital in the capital, Ricardo Menendez, told local media that the few cases of influenza detected during the end-of-year festivities were brought under control.

In 2025, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) was the predominant virus, in addition to some patients with Covid-19, described a doctor from one of the main public healthcare centers in the country.

The Epidemiology Department of another important hospital in the city, the San Juan de Dios General Hospital, reported that between December 24 and January 4, they treated six cases of influenza: three adults and three children, which does not represent an unusual increase.
