Is there a way to see what magazines/communities we're subscribed to? I know there's /sub, but that just shows the posts, rather than the communities themselves.

Basically the title. I want to click the link to a lemmy site or whatever and it shows up within kbin.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but does anyone know when the kbin app will become available on the play store?

I imagine it's because "active" is showing recently created zines. That's a poor algorithm for what is actually active. It should be based on number of comments and threads. It's making it very difficult to find hip places I might want to subscribe to.

Does Jerboa work with Kbin? Now that Kbin is federated with Lemmy, could I technically sign in to Jerboa with my Kbin account?

How can you block a whole domain? I’m seeing a lot of NSFW posts from one Lemmy instance that aren’t being flagged as such. I could block the Magazine, but I would like to block the whole instance outright.

Side note, it is kinda annoying that you have to go inside the Magazine to block it.

I'm trying to create a magazine, but along with slow activity, it's randomly being listed as "related to" a completely NSFW magazine, is there any way to prevent that?

Title. Love seeing what is removed and seeing how mods behave on other instances. Makes it super easy to gauge the culture either to join commenting or staying far away.

I created the community “Japanese Metal” https://sh.itjust.works/c/japanese_metal The problem is, it can’t be found on several other instances. I tried on Lemm.ee and Kbin.social, and both return a “not found”. What’s wrong? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Anyone else notice this lately?

If possible, please adjust the API limits for moderators. For example, if I'm a moderator of a given magazine and I am posting links to it I can run into HTTP 429 TOO MANY REQUESTS. This is understandable if I'm doing things outside magazines that I moderate but if I am:

1. Trying to post content to increase traffic
2. Trying to vote on posts to increase traffic
3. Trying to moderate posts to remove junk

...and all of this is happening in a magazine that I moderate, it would be nice for the API to give me a little more leeway than a non-moderator in the magazine.

I know this is a non-trivial implementation but I wanted to request it.

Hi, been trying to upload some of my old stuff from reddit onto here, but I can't seem to get the gifs to show up in preview? Sometimes they don't show up at all, other times as a static image, but I've definitely seen animated gif previews on here! Anyone have insight?

Can someone give me insight into how magazines we create here on kbin can be shared to other instances? It seems it kind of works, but when I look at some kbin magazines from other instances, sometimes they show up, sometimes they don't, and if they do it doesn't show there's any activity in it when there is.

Is anyone else getting uncensored NSFW in the "newest" section? It's not the greatest thing to see.

Are there any plans to censor this stuff? I know you can mark posts as NSFW but that doesn't solve much

@Timwi I am also struggling with this a bit. I have been trying to do this manually with mixed results. For example, I manually typed out https://kbin.social/m/technology@lemmy.world and it works. However, a smaller lemmy.world community 'Sooners' doesn't work (https://kbin.social/m/sooners@lemmy.world). Does the federation sync prioritize larger communities and /c/sooners just hasn't been sync'd yet?

I want to send a link to my less-than-informed-on-fediverse friend a link and was hoping to do it straight via kbin

Is it possible to get some kind of notification when there are replies to your comments or posts, so that you can more effectively participate in conversation with other users? Maybe there's a setting I'm not seeing?

/m/politics is basically unmoderated, and the trolls and other ne'er-do-wells are starting to find it. I'm not even particularly interested in following it, but that's one topic that you don't want to leave unmoderated. It's a troll magnet for obvious reasons, and that starts to affect the rest of the instance (and the fediverse) if there isn't anyone enforcing some sort of decorum.

@ernest I know you're ridiculously busy right now, but could you find a moment to appoint someone to recruit a mod team for /m/politics? I'd be willing to do the recruiting if you don't have any better candidates, but I wouldn't want to remain on as a moderator after that's done.

Alternatively does anyone here actively want the job?

I started https://kbin.social/m/drupal yesterday after discovering that Kbin is also a PHP/Symfony based project. There is a lot of ActivityPub work being done in Drupal right now including https://www.drupal.org/project/activitypub. I'm not an ActivityPub or Fediverse expert, but I did get excited about the possibility of the Drupal community replacing some of our corporately owned channels like Stack Overflow and Slack with a Kbin instance that replaces the groups.drupal.org. That site is still running on Drupal 7. Drupal 7 just got its fourth (and final?) EoL extension until January 2025. This is a great time to look at an "off the island" solution like Kbin.

I have a few questions, but I'm not even sure where to ask them.

I found m/kbin and m/kbinDevlog, m/kbinDesign, but I think my questions are more about policy on this specific kbin instance. If I'm asking these questions in the wrong place, please feel free to redirect me.

1. Drupal currently maintains a feed of Drupal related blog posts that is aggregated at https://www.drupal.org/planet. I've been manually posting these to m/drupal, but I'd like to automate this. After looking at https://docs.kbin.pub/, it's my understanding is that kbin.social doesn't support posting through a API, but there are other ways to post with a bot. Is that allowed?

2. Are there any examples of a Magazine or Kbin instance being run as a Stack Exchange-like QA site?

Occasionally after refreshing, I'll see a NSFW post in the random post section of the sidebar although I have the option to hide that content enabled.

Is there another way to hide this content?
