I still have not heard any information on this. Entire communities are completely dead on kbin, while thriving on the home instance. This site is so close but still fundamentally unusable.

Is there any way to display user roles like "creator", "moderator" and "admin" on kbin the way lemmy shows them? A setting, userscript, custom style perhaps? I like the sleek look of kbin but not when it's at the cost of functionality, lacking pretty important information.

I saw a thread from a certain magazine in my Random Threads and I decided to block it, but the thread remained even after refreshing multiple times. And when new random threads were shown, they pulled some from magazines I already blocked (I checked, I blocked those instances and it wasn't just a magazine from a different instance with the same name). Why is it doing this? This seems like it goes against the whole purpose of blocking an instance.

Are you unable to favorite/save/bookmark posts on Kbin? Like the same way you can bookmark posts on Mastodon?

Are there any plans for a "shelf" to store collections of magazines? i.e. I don't want to see politics on my main feed, but if I add a bunch of political and news magazines to a politics shelf, then I can go switch to that.

The only search I see searches everything.

How do I see what magazines I'm subscribed to?

I know how to see the THREADS that I'm subscribed to, but I haven't been able to find a list of subscriptions I have to check a magazine that I've forgotten the exact name of, or magazines that might be active but are getting crowded out by more active magazines, or inactive magazines that I want to just post to. Is this hidden somewhere?

Is there a way to go directly from a thread list to the source of the post? For example in this picture, https://i.imgur.com/KwG4GZU.png, these 2 links BOTH go to the comment list. I'd like the article header to go to the source (eg: mashable.com) since I can get to the comments already by clicking the "Comments" link.

Does federated deletes not work yet, or does it just take a while?

Hi all!

As many of you, I fallen in love with the UI customizations @the8thbit gifted us with its slim userstyle here. I simply love you, man.

Inspired by its design I customized it enough to make my transition from reddit as easy and familiar as possible, so the my updated UserStyle has:

• moved the article preview image to the left

• to keep the same formatting, added a placeholder image for article without one

• full page width usage

• colors vote buttons, magazine & user links

• increased the size/color of "preview-image" icon

Hope someone will enjoy this experience like me :)

Why could that be? What settings would I need to change to make my magazine show up? Is the magazine not federated for some reason? Is it because it has a capital letter & kbin is case sensitive?

The main reason for asking - aside from showing up across the Fediverse - is that currently there are lots of clients out for Lemmy's API, and I want to use an app to browse Kbin/Lemmy, so that's why I'm signing in with Lemmy, but want to browse my Kbin 'Magazine'.

On a related note: can I add a moderator for a Kbin magazine if their user profile is from another (Kbin/Lemmy) server? It would really help!

So let me start off by saying that I recognize that there was initially a genuine problem with people who didn't want NSFW content being exposed to it.

Some of this was due to the fact that not all content was being correctly flagged as NSFW, and some of it was because a lot of users didn't realize that individual users can choose to completely block an entire instance - which is not only a very easy and fast solution, but also does not require an all-or-nothing approach of defederating from NSFW instances.

A number of changes were made, but some of those lingering changes have meant that people who do want to see NSFW content are not because:

1. Even having subscribed to several NSFW subs, they are effectively completely missing from my feed.

2. Most NSFW thumbnails are blurred.

Both of these behaviors should not be occurring if a user has chosen in their settings to NOT hide NSFW content.

However, I will also say that the blurred state is something that deserves its own user setting (i.e. so that a user can choose to NOT hide NSFW, but still want them blurred or not) - preferably with the granularity to set it for various sub-types of NSFW (e.g. porn, gore, etc...).

Is there a way to do a search within a specific magazine? I'd like to be able to search previously submitted content so I can know whether a question has already been asked (like this question for example), but the Search icon just takes you to a general search for the entire site (+ federated), and I don't seem to be able to limit searches to within only one specific community.

Does Kbin have an api? I’m noticing that it doesn’t have an iOS app. And I’m wondering if there’s an api plugin were someone could potentially make an app for it.

As excited as I am about the Fediverse and its diversity, an all-in-one application is the real dream. I'm afraid efforts are splintering into too many redundant apps (15 at this point across both platforms) when they could be focused on the one app to rule them all with clean, working interfaces for as many federated applications as possible. With Fedilab already supporting Friendica, Mastodon, Pleroma, Pixelfed, Peertube, and even GNU Social (with plans to support CalcKey), adding Lemmy / Kbin would be a game changer for me and many others. Add Funkwhale and maybe WordPress and it's game over you never need to download any other apps.

4th gen iPad Air. iOS 16.2

How do you view all subscribed magazines? On Lemmy you can go to Communities, and then choose subscribed, and it shows you a list of your subscribed communities. When I click on Magazines on top in kbin, it doesn't have a selection to let you pick subscribed only.

I'm assuming its here somewhere and I'm just being dumb because I can't find it.

Add the ability to filter the Magazine list to show subscribed magazines.

There is a thread currently on here that if you have media preview turned on, automatically downloads a file. Thread is Here.

This could be a huge security issue because if a bad actor put a payload in a file that just auto downloads, some people might just open it not knowing what it is.

Not sure where to post bugs, so I figured this might be the place for now.

We appreciate Ernest and all he is doing for kbin and making this the best instance ever. I'm on mastodon and lemmy but I don't think i have used them in a while. Thank you, Ernest, for what you are doing for all of us and the #fediverse
