"The magazine from the federated server may be incomplete. Browse more on the original instance."

I dont understand this issue. Why is it taking a week in some cases for some text or image from another server to make it here? Is it bottlenecking somewhere? If so how do posts from other servers get here in seconds?

Is there any way to get notifications when a Person I follow creates a new Thread or Post? Looks like there's a similar setting for when a Magazine gets a new post, but I think individual posts from users I care about are much more likely to get lost in the shuffle or be something I care about, specifically

There's a few users I've been keeping an eye on after seeing them post misinformation and hate speech. Just keeping a list for now because I don't know how to report them. Where should I go to do this?

Maybe give them a custom header image, like profiles have. But please don't encourage them to fill my screen with #FF00FF.

Example:

In a comment to another post I listed a bunch of communities, and only !cat autolinked. So okay, I can autolink to a federated server with a ! the magazine name and @ the instance name.

But none of my local magazine references worked. What do I do to link a Kbin magazine in a post?

I am aware that upvoted posts make it to https://kbin.social/fav however that just doesn't work well as I already have 1,000+ pages in there. Moreover, that only registers upvoted posts and not comments. A workaround would be to just use boost, and only upvote when you want to "save" but that is just not conventional imho. The ability on /r to simply save a comment or a post is truly basic but effective.

EDIT: Relevant Codeberg issue

As far as I can tell, magazine tags are mainly used when searching for magazines, and maybe for determining related magazines.

But I think mag tags should be applied automatically to threads and posts inside each magazine. This would make for a decent multireddit substitute.

If I'm looking at the #tech tag feed, I think that should include a lot of content from a lot of different sources that have marked themselves as #tech, not just the individual threads that remembered to actually tag it lol.

In the future, being able to make my own customized feeds would effectively allow for a proper multi-feed experience! Like #tech+#DIY+#raspberrypi feed, or whatever!

Okay, tell me why this is technically difficult, impossible, or otherwise won't work the way that I'm hoping lol.

For some reason my kbin interface has switched to Polish and I can't figure out how to change it back...

Where can I find the list of instances kbin.social is federated with? I'm asking because android@lemmy.world has locked the community as they are merging with Android@Lemdro.id. I'm unable to find and thus subscribe to the community at Lemdro.id and I'm guessing it is because kbin.social is not federated with Lemdro.id.

Hi folks, I just joined kbin in an attempt to avoid R-word.

On kbin's site there is a section about an upcoming app, I'd love to know more about it an how can I contribute.

I'm an iOS Developer and I would really like to help kbin grow fast and with the best experience possible.

The official project (if I can call it that) is made in Dart but I was looking for an app like Christian Selig did for R-word, Apollo, using the latest iOS technologies and with a familiar UI to the iPhone user.

I'm not even sure if this is the right magazine (I hate this name ahahaha) for this but I thought I'd give it a try.

I’m sure there are ways to do this on desktop, but in mobile, as far as I can tell, if I come across a nsfw community on my thread and I want to block I, I can’t do that without first clicking on the link to the community feed.

543

I know I can preview images and videos, but to read a news article I have to open the thread first then click the link to the article.

Sorry if this has been asked before. I tried searching "open link" but kbin search the whole fediverse instead of this magazine.

With kbin and various Lemmy instances having multiples of the same magazine/sub, wouldn't it be nice if we could bundle individual ones together to see them all consolidated?
For example: /askkbin, /asklemmy1 and /asklemmy2 bundled into /ask or whatever name I choose.
Kinda like reddits multireddits. Maybe with a selector where new threads get created when I post.

Fuck Meta and fuck Threads. We should NOT federate with them.

Since the newest update, I see Kbin on a different language. I think it's Polish, or some similar language. The strange thing is that I don't remember a setting where one can change the display language. And the other strange thing is that this happens only on desktop. If I see Kbin via mobile, the page is in English.

Any tips on how I can set the display back to English?

Did anyone else's kbin favicon changed to a smaller version inside a black box? Ugh... It was so beautiful on my bookmarks bar before yesterday's update.

I've been trying out several userscripts for Kbin recently, which have made the website way more enjoyable than it already was. I wanted to share them with my fellow Kbin users.

To use these scripts, you'll need an userscript manager. I use Greasemonkey on my PC on Firefox myself, and Tampermonkey on my phone. You can find recommendations for your browser on the Greasy Fork home page.

These are the scripts that I've been using:

There are many more interesting scripts on Greasy Fork, like this alternative sidebar.

After installing scripts you like, I recommend checking the settings of the scripts and change the settings to whatever you prefer. The settings can often both be found under the little cog icon on the right side of the page, just like the official Kbin settings.

Feel free to share you favorite userscripts or add-ons and enjoy!

E: @minnieo, the creator of Kbin Kibby Avatars, just shared this very nice userstyle for the side bar to make it look even better.

E2: The author of both Kbin Usability Pack and the Kbin Subscription Panel, @Perry, just fixed the issue I was having with the "alternative sidebar". It is working as intended now and it has some very nice extra functionality and settings. It also works perfectly on mobile. I would recommend trying out both and see which one you like most.
