Does Kbin support RTL languages?

I ran across that magazine recently and every post is transphobic af. Does that fit within kbin.social's code of conduct?

Looks like we've had a wave of porn bots hit recently. Screenshot is a sampling of what's popping up on my threads feed when sorted by new.

A heads up to @ernest and to folks with magazines that might get hit by these guys. Looks like they're submitting from a couple of different domains, so it's difficult to block them from the user side, and some admin action might be necessary.

EDIT: ernest has removed the accounts and content, looks like all is well.

Just reading my feed it appears that Kbin social is getting porn spammed by some 4chan site. Anyone else seeing this?

The new feed is full of links that redirect to the same website.

Aside from microblogs, I do want to know if there is such a feature that allows this.

I haven't used kbin much this past week, but over the last day or so I noticed I haven't seen the "login bug" happen anymore. I can leave a tab open and still come back later and upvote, boost or comment on posts without the page giving me an error and asking me to re-log in.
So, I don't know what our guy ernest did, but let's give him some recognition and appreciation for actually fixing it! At least for me, it seems fixed. Anyone else noticed it?

I have to try each page and scan the entire thread for my avatar in order to find the exchange the notification was telling me about. It would be very nice if the notification link just jumped directly to the reply.

I've been looking for a usecase to see where the combination of Threads and Microblog was particularly useful, and with the news around the potential superconductor #LK99 I figured this would be an interesting test case. So I made a magazine on kbin.social for LK99, and added the hashtags to tags in settings.

But now only some tagged posts show up under microblog. So it does work, because otherwise 0 posts would appear. But if I search on mastodon.social for #LK99, I get way more posts, and only about a third of them show up on Kbin.

Its probably something to do with federation, but I'm not really sure where it goes wrong. Interestingly, even some posts that are made on mastodon.social that are correctly tagged do not show up on kbin, even though other posts from mastodon.social do. I even made sure to follow this account with my mastodon.social account to guarantee federation between the servers.

Anyone has an idea how this works? And if there is a way to force more of the posts to show up?

It probably wouldn't work with Lemmy, but kbin users could do it. Might give the fediverse more attention, but it would need to be more original than a r/place clone.

how do I follow a community on another server? I'd like to follow washingtondc@lemmit.online I've tried putting it in the search box and searching the magazines page

340

Does kbin support cross posting? In lemmy if there is a post that I like I can "cross post" to another relevant community. Is that a thing here?

341

What can be done about malicious users? There is someone posting quasi-religious antisemitic drivel in m/news. In reaction to getting downvoted and reported they have started downvoting my posts in other magazines. I'm sure I'm not the only one being targetted. Is there something to do besides block?

Is it just me, or is page 9 of the "standard" feed (https://kbin.social/?p=9) -- and specifically page 9, not any of the other pages (at least, between 1 and 10) -- 404ing?

I want to follow https://mastodon.social/@haskell_discussions, but I can't seem to reach them from kbin. Usually with mastodon, I believe I should be able to search for that URL, like this:

https://kbin.social/search?q=https%3A%2F%2Fmastodon.social%2F%40haskell_discussions

But that does not give any results. I've also tried looking up the user directly like this:

https://kbin.social/u/@haskell_discussions@mastodon.social

But that also does not work.

Is there any way to do this?

I have a magazine thats following certain tags. I see they are coming into microblog. Is it possible to promote, or migrate a microblog to a thread?

I haven't figured out how to view new content through kbin which hasn't been "added" yet.

If I go to "kbin.social/d/mastodon.social" I can view posts from that Mastodon instance.

But if I go to, say, "kbin.social/d/seafoam.space" it doesn't work.

I've tried:

  • Searching for the urls (website.example, https://website.example) in the search bar
  • Appending "!" and "@" (!website.example, @website.example)
  • Searching for specific users, including with prefixes (user@website.example, @user@website.example, [!user@website.example](/c/user@website.example))
  • Adding the kbin URL to the previous examples
    (kbin.social/d/@website.example .../m/@website.example .../d/website.example)
    Etc etc

I'm probably doing something completely wrong but I can't seem to get Kbin to pick up on new content it hasn't seen before.

It looks like right now, you can view /kbin users and content from Misskey and Firefish instances, but not the other way around; I'm not able to view my accounts from either of those instances here on /kbin. From what I can tell, I can only view content from Mastodon and Pixelfed instances.

Since it seems like a lot of users are moving from Mastodon to the newer, prettier platforms like Firefish, do we know if /kbin will eventually incorporate that content?

It seems like when the big reddit migration happened, a lot of new users claimed magazine names on kbin instances that were popular on reddit in order to have ownership of them, but they seemingly have no interest in posting content to them. This has unfortunately caused lot of otherwise useful magazines to remain dormant, vacant, and unused.

Would it make sense to have these ghost magazines expire or have a system for changing ownership of them if no one uses them? It's a shame if the good names are taken and immediately abandoned, and it's not a great user experience to look for communities only to find so many empty and abandoned magazines.

I'm curious what opinions are regarding this matter. Thanks.

Would it be possible to add some sort of indicator, maybe like a check mark or something, next to the name of the magazine/community in threads to show whether you're subscribed to it or not? Is this something that could be done in RES?

Ex-redditor here, still adjusting to kbin, sorry if I'm asking in the wrong place.

Sometimes I run across a post that I just don't want to see again. It's not offensive or inappropriate stuff, so I don't want to block the user or the magazine. It's just sporadic content that makes me angry or depressed and I'd rather not see in my feed when I pop back in a few hours later.

Is there a way in either vanilla kbin or in KDE, to block a post from my feed? Like today, I've popped in maybe four times today, and each time there's some article with a large outraged screaming Trump picture on it and I just don't want to see it. I want a quiet weekend where I can occasionally check in on the news without raising my anger and blood pressure every time I accidentally run across that particular article again.

Edit: just wanted to thank you all for the help - I appreciate it!
